Last month, I went thru what I initially thought was a test from God but it was so negative and I knew if I let go, I would fall. I waited a week and went thru these different tests everyday. I finally called a friend and she told me it was demonic oppression. She gave me verses to say and from the very first time reading thru them, I received the lift back for 1 night. She told me I’d have to say it more then once. Finally, the testing period was over, and I received this boosted feeling and I was fine.

2 weeks ago, similar thing started happening. It’s been extremely difficult to hang on. I’ve read over the verses and everything and although the peace comes, it doesn’t last and then I’m filled with negativity again. I really feel there’s a huge battle going on but I’m holding on and not letting go. I won’t let go. But it’s so hard.

What else can I do?

The other day, a thought had come over me and it said go live your life, have fun. I started to feed into it but asked my mom to pray for me first. She asked God, if this was from him to make it clear to me and tell me if that’s what he wants me to do but if that thought wasn’t from him, to take it away. So, within 2 minutes, I got my answer. God took the temptation away so he wanted me to hold instead of let go. So I’m holding on.

I just don’t know what to do. This is the longest test God has ever given me. The one from 2015, lasted 1 week and the one from a month and a half ago lasted for 1 week 3 days. This one has been 2 weeks so far.

If this is demonic oppression, why isn’t reading the Bible and praying getting rid of all this? My parents even pray the blood of Jesus over me.

Please help

friend, have you tried fasting?

it could be demonic oppression but i see you are in for the kingdom. no turning back. you said its hard and you wont let go. this attitude will prove you to be a great man or woman of God.

keep fighting the good fight and know that all things work together for good to those who love God. looking back at this hard time you will see the benefits and its purpose, right now its all about walking by faith.

you will make it through this friend. and after you do, oyu will be an inspiration to many to come

Reading how prayer was answered in the book of Daniel greatly helped me. Read chapter 10 in Daniel.

Well, I’m highly disciplining myself. I’m helping my mom out in the kitchen and a few other things but I know if I chose to ‘let go’, I would fall away from God. No tv, nothing really. Spending time in prayer, listening to worship music, my parents are praying for me often as well as other people. But, I’m really having an extremely difficult time with this. I’m really struggling to hang on. Sometimes during the day, I’ll have peace and positivity but then it reverts back to negativity. I know this is a test bc God would Never set me up to fail. And knowing where I stand now, I would def fail if I let go.

Hi @ManiaStar, I'm sorry to hear of your struggles. It sounds like you are being tempted by Satan, but I can't say for sure w/o more details (but do not give us those unless you are comfortable doing so).

What I can tell you is that the Bible is clear, we need to resist/keep resisting the devil, and the Bible promises that he will flee from us (for a time anyway ) .. James 4:7, 1 Peter 5:8-9. We also need to put on the full armor of God each day .. Ephesians 6:10-17, and take the ridiculous and/or horrible thoughts that come our way "captive", and give them over to the Lord to deal with .. 2 Corinthians 10:5.

Sadly, I know the devil's attacks can be painful (and we just want them to be over), but doing the things that the Bible tells us we must in this case is normally not an instant cure, because the devil and his demons are persistent  The good news is twofold however, 1. he/they will eventually tire of being resisted and they will leave, just like the Bible tells us they will, and 2. God, who loves you and wants the best for you, is always in there to protect you, so rest in Him and in His promises where the temptations you face are concerned, including the two wondrous promises that are found in 1 Corinthians 10:13.

God has a purpose in allowing us to be tested .. e.g. Hebrews 12:7-11, and He makes us this wonderful promise .. Romans 8:28. So even though you may not understand why He is allowing you to go through what you are right now, always try to remember how very much He loves you and wants the very best for you. IOW, trust Him .. no matter what :)

That said, continuing to grow in your knowledge of both God and His word is tremendously helpful with all of this, because the better you know Him and know His truth, the quicker, easier and better equipped you will be to recognize your negative thoughts and/or the situation that you've found yourself in for what they really are, especially with the help you get from the HS .. Joshua 1:8; Psalm 1:1-3, 119:9-11; 2 Timothy 3:16-17.

Praying for you!

~Deut
p.s. - I was under a horrible and seemingly relentless attack from Satan when I first became a Christian nearly 33 years ago now. Although deepening my understanding of the Bible and, especially, memorizing key verses from it, did me more good in the long run than anything else has, a book by C S Lewis was particularly useful as well, because it really helped me begin to understand and better recognize Satan's attacks for what they are. The book I'm referring to is called The Screwtape Letters. It's a collection of short stories that were originally read by Lewis on the radio. It's fiction, & Lewis wrote it from the demon's POV (so God, for instance, is referred to in this book as "the Enemy" ;)), but even though it's fictional, it will give you a real sense of what your "tempters" are up to and how they operate in your life (y)

You can read it for free online, here, but if you can afford it, I would highly recommend this anniversary version of it, in book form or on Kindle, because of all the extra/useful information that it includes. It's also a great read, BTW :)

One last thing @ManiaStar, have you told your pastor about this yet? If not, he can no doubt help you with it, including beginning to pray for you regularly .. cf Hebrews 13:17. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much .. e.g. James 5:16:)

BTW, it's wonderful to know that your parents are praying for you!! If you want to, please keep us updated here so that we can know how to continue to pray for you too.

God bless you! (Numbers 6:24-26; 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24)

~Deut
p.s. - here are some other verses that may be encouraging and/or useful to you as well .. Isaiah 40:31; Isaiah 41:10; Philippians 4:6-8.

Hi again @ManiaStar, here's a video that I just remembered, that someone else posted here on CChat as a general encouragement to all (and that I believe may be a great encouragement to you right now :)).

It's a 14 minute excerpt from a longer message by Pastor/Author, Dr. Chuck Swindoll, who is also the Chancellor of Dallas Theological Seminary (where this message was delivered to Dallas' students) about two very important words for Christians to always try and remember throughout our lives.

~Deut
p.s. - here is a quote about from Pastor Swindoll as well. The video above is a kind of elaboration on this quote of his, just FYI.

It just seems like you are dealing with certain thoughts and stressing out unnecessarily. I don't think it is anything demonic at all. Are you possibly feeling sad or depressed feeling at times? Negative thoughts can make you feel down. Keep on reading the bible and think about those verses that really encourage you. For myself I find that singing can make me feel more confident and happy. Try not to be hard on yourself. Everyone gets negative thoughts at times but if you try to not think about certain things often times you will end up thinking of it.

As for the thought about live your life and have fun, that can actually be a good thing but not to an extreme. It is good to enjoy your life and have fun. But also there is much more to life than just having fun and there are times in life we have to do things that we may not like but it is necessary.

Since no one really knows you or your situation, all one can say is that there may be other reasons why you are under severe attack. If you have had connections with the occult in the past, and have not totally cleared the decks, that could be one reason. Another reason could be failure to turn away completely (repent) of any sins or idols which are still hanging around. The ideal solution would be to sit down with your pastor and discuss this in-depth. Fasting and prayer are also necessary.

Hi this is my testimony of how God lead me out of demonic oppression.. see it began 15 years ago in which I was 21 years of age I wasn't christian but I was praying and working at the same time in a perol sation in New Zealand. During this prayer I prayed a request to God and he declined so I rebelled and I told God I might as well join the devil if u don't give me what I want.. immediately after saying this a HUGE wave of fear struck me like nothing I've ever felt in my entire life a voice immediately said out loud your fate is sealed. (i didn't know what it was at first but later on i learned it was a demon that had entered me.)as you could imagine i turned to God and regrettedMoments after this i ran away from work in search for help. This lead me to seeking help in the church's in the region. I looked for help but couldn't find anything to help. I didn't realize but I was demonic it took a long time to realize I had demons in.. fear had taken hold of me and I became a nervous wreck. Fear for no reason would take ahold of me and I didn't have a clue or know what was wrong. It got scarier as time went on it was like torture. An entity within me began to reveal its presence to me by signs reading my wrist watch when I hadn't even looked at it.. LOTS of scary stuff making me even more frightened. I only knew to fight keep on going every day. I turned to God immediately after the demons entered me i kept praying to God through the years (as I still didn't fully understand how demons enter people or how to cast them out.. look i have learnt much over the years having cast out many demons out of myself and having set someone else. the devil and his demons want to steal kill and destroy. The devil tried to make me kill people having failed with that he tried to make me commit suicide. I myself am now saved by God and am on the road to recovery.. my advice to ANYONE who fears that they are being demonically oppressed..
NEVER GIVE UP ON YOURSELF don't throw in the towel.. u can win against demons because Jesus is stronger.. simply find a nice church home and seek pastoral care. Thanks guys and girls..

We are told that in the last days demons will be more active and have more influence in the world.. That has happened, but the Christian world has ignored it. Dr. M Scott Peck has opened the doors a slight crack in the world of the psychiatrist. Through the information given on the net you can find how the movies teach the occult. You could also find that there are covens in almost every city.

These things need to be understood and faced. We cannot fight an enemy we ignore and know nothing about.

Our God is a God of truth. Demons and the occult is a world of lies trying to twist God's truth. The more of God's truth we know and accept the better to handle demon thoughts. Thoughts are either of God led by the Holy Spirit or they are opposed to God. We have control of our thoughts, we can lead our minds. Phil 4:8 tells us how to do that.

Dr. Peck found that it is only through Christ that demons can be controlled.
