what i've been told is that one of the reasons modern texts do not strictly follow the textus recepticus as the kjv and its derivatives do, is that scholarship in the centuries since the first few english language Bibles were translated has discovered a great number more ancient manuscripts than were available in the 16th century, and revealed that the byzantine area scribes were much more likely to edit, redact, and add to texts when copying than the alexandrian area scribes, who held accuracy in comparatively higher regard, whereas the byzantine monks had the attitude that interpretive changes were sometimes necessary. that there are statistically far more identifiable and traceable errors in byzantine families of copied texts, that this is why in the relative modern era, they are not trusted to the same degree, and the alexandrian text families are favored.

i'd like to know the facts of this, given in an unbiased way. i'm just relating an account i've heard through a not a few sources.
The little bit that I've looked into textual criticism has led me to believe that it gets very complicated very fast!
In Luke chapter 4 we see an interesting situation
The spirit of the Lord is upon me
But Isaiah wrote
Spirit of the Lord God
There are several explanations for this, but the one I like to go with is that Luke, under inspiration of the holy Spirit, figured that close enough was good enough!

If we don't have the pure words of God translated in the English language, then man's education is going to be the final authority on what God has said.
The only way you, or any of us are going to get the pure words of God Is if you ask Him to speak them to you!
And, it doesn't matter which language you are affluent in! This is one reason, we are to test the spirits!

Far as written language? G'luck with that! For as you already know, or should know, there AIN'T no original "written" languages any longer! Everything mannequin kind has? Are myriads of translations, from transliterations, back into translations, into transliterations, into translations! Yeah! And there weren't any traditions of men, involved at all over the course of these 6,000 years or so, in the O.T., or even the 2,000 plus years for the N.T., were there? Of COURSE not! :devilish:

It's impossible Johnny, in having God's pure words, as they were written down! You cannot not expect mistranslations, and mistranliterations, of mistranslations, during the course of history, when it comes to peculiar people "CALLED OUT FROM the world", when laid upon the sociological, economical, religious, educational templates during the course of this ever increasingly apostasetic evil and wicked generation.

I'll admit, some "guides" (Bibles), are better then others! But NO "guide" is better THEN THE SOURCE!
Isaiah 55
6 Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, CALL ye upon him while he is near:
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:
11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: IT SHALL NOT(!) return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, AND IT SHALL PROSPER in the thing whereto I sent it.

1 Chronicles 28
9 And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a WILLING mind: for the Lord searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou SEEK Him(?), He WILL BE FOUND of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.

John 5
22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:
24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and BELIEVETH ON HIM THAT SENT ME, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

In conclusion? If you're NOT hearing "God's PURE word?"
Can ya guess who has "judged" one, from Pressing ON to the High CALLING of God?
(hint) See John 5:22

I apologize, it wasn’t my doing though. I jumped on board because I’m that passionate about defending the word of truth.

I didn’t start the KJV conversation on this thread, just added to it once it began. It’s never been proven false like ALL the others.

That's a fallacy fallacy: irrelevant.
Are you trying to be smart, or just snarky? Mine was not a fallacy fallacy, because your post to which I responded was, in fact, a genetic fallacy and self-invalidating. Further, claiming that mine was a fallacy fallacy does not validate your argument.

The fact is almost all of the available witnesses is in favor of the KJV. Only a few manuscripts that cannot understand each others favors the newer versions and what welath of materials available today? they are only representatives of manuscripts in a corrupt nature like the Sin-Vat.
This is a misrepresentation of the facts, and overlooks important historical context.

First, while it's true that the majority of extant manuscripts fall into the Byzantine family, but it isn't "almost all available witnesses". Second, "majority rules" is not relevant when it comes to determining truth. Third, the violent spread of Islam in the seventh century resulted in the destruction of many manuscripts. Fourth, you're arguing in circles, assuming that "Sin-Vat" is corrupt.

That statement is demonstrably false as I have shown in previous threads.

IOW calling the called fallacy fallacious was an invalid invalidation of the invalidation by fallacy .. ?

((yes i am being snarky))

sometimes i wonder if the reason He has put is in the situation where we find ourselves isn't in order to show us that we are made ministers "not of the letter, but of the Spirit: for the letter killeth, but the Spirit giveth life" ((2 Cor. 3:6, 1560 GNV))

i am reminded that we are 'the ends of the earth' ((re: Isaiah 41:9, etc)) -- the USA is not the center of the scriptural world, but a far corner of it, and the English language, however seemingly ubiquitous, was not the language He chose to speak and record His words in at the first. we are blessed just to have even this image we see of His message, through a glass. :)

to know it, even if we were Moses hearing Him directly in his native tongue, we could not - unless His own Spirit grants us to understand, awakening our mind.

The Holy Spirit has led me to finding that there is a serious problem with the KJV. You have the spirit of the Lord, I have the spirit of the Lord.

It was through my search to find what the Lord wants of my attitude toward the Jewish religion, for they deny Christ. As a searched I found I was to respect them and not judge them. I found that during the translation done of the KJV, the world did not believe this, and that version of the bible reflects that as expressed in their translation of the word Passover with the word Easter expresses.

My conclusion is that the Holy Spirit uses what scripture and any other that we test to be certain it is truth, and it tests this for us. It does not mean we are not to study.

If you had put all truth in your mind and it had retained all scripture, the Holy Spirit would use that information for you.

pascha does not mean "dawn"

Luke used an Hebrew word - not a Greek word meaning dawn - and the word he used means "to pass over"
it is not worth it to me to sacrifice the truth in order to preserve the kjv.
