Romans 4:4-6 (ESV)
4 Now to the one who works, his wages are not counted as a gift but as his due.
5 And to the one who does not work [for his own righteousness] but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness,
6 just as David also speaks of the blessing of the one to whom God counts righteousness apart from works:

Ephesians 2:4-5 (ESV)
4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us,
5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved

Ephesians 2:8-9 (ESV)
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,
9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

Titus 3:5-8 (HCSB)
5 He saved usnot by works of righteousness that we had done, but according to His mercy, through the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit.
6 He poured out this ⌊Spirit⌋ on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior,
7 so that having been justified by His grace, we may become heirs with the hope of eternal life.
8 This saying is trustworthy. I want you to insist on these things, so that those who have believed God might be careful to devote themselves to good works. These are good and profitable for everyone.

Romans 11:6 (HCSB)
6 Now if by grace, then it is not by works; otherwise grace ceases to be grace.

2 Timothy 1:9 (HCSB)
9 He has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began.

Galatians 2:16 (HCSB)
16 know that no one is justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ. And we have believed in Christ Jesus so that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no human being will be justified.
AMEN...simple truth hey.......they cannot help but conflate numerous issues into one big quagmire.....!!

Not sure about this ....are you referring to "I die daily" by Paul because in context that is not what he was teaching.
No, what I believe Paul is saying is to consider what has already been done on a daily basis. We don't die daily. Or remind ourselves.

I would disagree with the bolded and state two things....

a. Salvation is 100% completed at the moment of salvation<---Salvation is an ongoing result from a past completed action..emphasis upon the completed action part.

b. I would say....begins the ongoing process of SANCTIFICATION in our daily life

c. "B" and the underlined in your post is entirely based upon the transformational process described in Roans 12:1-2

d. I would argue and disagree with the last point as well...John states clearly that RIGHT NOW we are the SONS of GOD, but it does not yet appear what we shall be-->Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
Decon

Have you ever looked at the word sons? I have. Then because some Bible versions use children rather than sons, I looked at this too. I found there are 8 different descriptive definitions for children, child.

I agree salvation is instantaneous or completed when we receive Jesus. I don't know why you objected. Unless it's because I didn't use the word sanctification. Scripture days we are sanctified by Holy Spirit. It's the work of God in every aspect of our walk with Him.

Back to children. There's a growth process we go through and John speaks of it. Not looking now for it. Am on my phone. But, though we are His children, it's as if we are born again as babes in the faith.

Looking at Sonship. This place we will pay a price for.

Look at the words before you objected decon.

What made me look was laffturs post on Navy seals.

How did vco develop reliance on God?

IT HAD TO BE A SPIRITUAL GIFT, because I HAD THAT TOTAL TRUST IN HIM FROM THE MOMENT I WAS BORN AGAIN.

No, I did not have to DEVELOP it.

I KNEW HE was in control of my life, and HE had a plan for my life.

I gave up CONTROL to HIM.

Makes me think of the motive behind attacking, insulting, blaspheming those who teach OBEDIENCE TO GOD as instructed by the Lord Jesus. Is it a bad motive to preach and teach obedience to God? If everyone who teach obedience to God has a bad motive, including you, who's preaching are we to believe?

I thank God for inspiring John to lead us to the true preachers and teachers.

NIV1984 1 John 2:3-6
We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands. The man who says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But if anyone obeys his word, God’s love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.

NIV1984 1 John 4:1
Test the Spirits Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

NIV1984 John 7:17-18
If anyone chooses to do God’s will, he will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own. He who speaks on his own does so to gain honor for himself, but he who works for the honor of the one who sent him is a man of truth; there is nothing false about him.

NIV1984 Galatians 6:7-10
Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

Doesn't it bother you how many contradictions you yourself create in the Holy Scriptures, by your misinterpretations.

We believe when you interpret Scripture correctly, THERE ARE NO CONTRADICTIONS in Scripture.

Sort of, but NO ONE EVER TOLD ME THAT SPIRITUAL GROWTH REQUIRED FEEDING ON THE WORD. So the first three months I was JUST waiting for Him to do something in my life. I did not know I had to feed on the Word regularly. Then one NIGHT at work I got so BORED with my Country and Western Music, that I changed the Channel. I landed on a Christian Channel, as Dr. John MacArthur, Jr. was starting a verse by verse series on REVELATION, and in a short time I was hooked on Expository Bible Teaching for LIFE. Yes that means the Book of Revelation was my SPIRITUAL MILK. Soon, I was listening to Other VERY GOOD Bible Teachers too. The Post Office allowed us to listen to headset radios at work. I am thankful that the LORD lead me to some VERY GOOD BIBLE TEACHERS:

The Bible teachers that have had the most influence on my spiritual growth are:

You understand Revelations?

The book of Romans spoke to me first

And I believe that if you share your experience, it would be edifying

To Cor ...
Is there a bad motive behind your preaching?

is there a bad motive in preaching about the concept of bad motive?

If no, can you explain this good motive?

If there is, why should people know about the fact that God examines the motive of heart, if preaching this concept is also done out of bad motives?

AMEN............James in context is not teaching a faith/works blend for salvation..........and for sure two statements are never brought up by those that peddle such a thing......those being...

a. SHOW ME your faith
b. EVEN the demons Believe (in God)

the same issue the JEWS have to this very day....a belief in GOD but NO saving faith........................
Romans 9:30-33
What then will we say? That Gentiles, not pursuing righteousness, have attained righteousness, and righteousness that is by faith; 31but Israel, pursuing a law of righteousness, did not attain to that law. 32Why? Because it was not by faith, but as by works. They stumbled over the stone of stumbling, 33as it has been written:

“Behold, I lay in Zion a stone of stumbling,

and a rock of offense;

and the one believing on Him

will never be put to shame.”l

AMEN brother,
No different than those who promote dead works faith, that can never save, and call themselves Christians today.

As it's been said before about Paul's letters,
The same could be said today of the letter of James .......

2 Peter 3:16
As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable twist, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

God did all the work necessary for us to be saved by grace through faith in Christ.
We believe/trust in His finished work.
Not our own.
We all have sinned, He did not.

John 14:1
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in Me.

1 Peter 2:6-8

For it stands in Scripture:

“See, I lay in Zion a stone,

a chosen and precious cornerstone;

and the one who believes in Him

will never be put to shame.”a

7To you who believe, then, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe,

“The stone the builders rejected

has become the cornerstone,”b

8and,

“A stone of stumbling

and a rock of offense.”c

--who are stumbling at the word, being unbelieving, -- to which also they were set;

NIV1984 Romans 15:18
I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me in leading the Gentiles to obey God by what I have said and done—

No deceiver would ever teach obedience to God and no true Christian would ever teach DISOBEDIENCE TO GOD.

Those who attack, insult, blaspheme those who teach OBEDIENCE TO GOD is a clear evidence of what they teach no matter how they try to deny it.

NIV1984 1 Timothy 6:3-5
If anyone teaches false doctrines and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, he is conceited and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions and constant friction between men of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.

Is this the purpose of why you are on debate forums?

If you achieve no success here, how do you know if your labor is in vain or not?

Is it motives?

NIV1984 Ephesians 1:13
And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,
Amen! Believers are sealed in Christ with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory. (y)

If the gospel of our salvation teaches FAITH ALONE to be saved then we should take away the "LIFE part of the LIFE, death, burial, resurrection of our Lord Jesus which He WALKED/LIVED on this earth for us to WALK/LIVE as He did for being part of His body where we have been included to prepare us for WORKS OF SERVICE.
We are saved through faith (rightly understood) IN CHRIST ALONE -- "saved by grace through faith, not works" (Ephesians 2:8,9) which does not take away the death, burial and resurrection of Christ, which was His part and faith is our part. (Romans 3:24-28; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4) Jesus Christ walked/lived on this earth and was in all points tempted as we are, yet He was without sin. (Hebrews 4:15) Believers ought to walk in the same manner as Jesus walked, in truth and in love, (1 John 2:6) which is what believers strive to do because we are saved and we love the Lord and not to become saved. Works of service are what we are saved FOR and NOT BY. (Ephesians 2:8-10)
