viper eggs

Isaiah 59

They rely on empty pleas; they tell lies;

they conceive mischief and give birth to iniquity.

5They hatch the eggs of vipers

and weave a spider’s web.

Whoever eats their eggs will die;

crack one open, and a viper is hatched.

6Their cobwebs cannot be made into clothing,

and they cannot cover themselves with their works.

Their deeds are sinful deeds,

and acts of violence are in their hands.

you are so bold only because of the few here that you think are the same as you

however, they have not quite reached the heights of iniquity that you have
I urge you to use care in accusing the brethren. It simply does not suit those who name the name of Christ

apparently there are many keepers of the eggs of vipers

Isaiah still calls you out

when you prefer darkness to light, you will turn your back on the truth over and over

say what you will, the actions of those who turn aside from scripture reveal the heart better than even they know

such confusion. this is what happens when cessationists try to make scripture fit their belief

to be baptized in the Holy Spirit does not mean this is what happens when you accept Christ as your Savior. this is not the biblical model and is a corrupted interpretation

first off, as I brought up some weeks back, the actual GREEK is to be baptized IN and not with. throughout the entire NT there are only 2 prepositions used with the verb phrase 'to baptize'. those words are IN and INTO

when Jesus states 'for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.' Acts 1:5, before he was taken up into heaven, He also states that the purpose of such a baptism is

8But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.' Acts 1

now the disciples and all those who were still with Jesus were obviously already saved.

let me repeat that. THE DISCIPLES WERE ALREADY SAVED WHEN JESUS SAID THIS

so, this errant teaching that baptism in the Holy Spirit is accepting Christ is corrupt and not biblical

there are some individuals here who do not accept the baptism IN the Holy Spirit and therefore, have created their own version of what the words mean

so, the fact the disciples were saved and yet Jesus told them to WAIT for the Holy Spirit whom the Father was going to send, indicates that the baptism in the Holy Spirit is a separate and DISTINCT event

so we understand, from Jesus' words and the chronological events described in the book of Acts, that you are saved when you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ (don't confuse this with sanctification or anything that comes after. this is an even IN the history of your life that is not duplicated) and the enduement for power to witness for Him comes when you are baptized IN the Holy Spirit

any other version of events or meaning is, again, a corruption of the text and should be tossed aside like the lie that it is

the Bible is more than clear that if you do not have the baptism IN the Holy Spirit you do NOT have this power that Jesus speaks of

there is no way around that, other than to deny the words of Christ and create a corruption of the text
This is what is wrong with most, if not all, of the gifting churches, I do believe God can and still does use the gift of tongues to accomplish his will. But these churches have twisted the meaning of words, and made literal acts of God in our salvation and gifting into some religious act that does does not even fit scripture.

They try to replace the baptism of God, and make it into some religious thing which has nothign to do with what it really means. And is another flaw in the english writers failing to interpret the word, but instead transliterate the word.

Man can not baptise us into Christ or his death by immersing us in water.

But God sure can, By immersing (baptising) us into Christ, his death and his burial. And he will in the future baptize us into his full resurrection. (Rom 6)

Man can not circumcize our souls by immersing us in water, we are spiritually circumcised by the baptism of the spirit who raised Jesus from the dead (col 2)

man can not baptize us into the body of Christ by immersing in water. GOD places us (baptism) into the body christ, whith Christ as the head, through the baptism of the spirit ( 1 cor 12)

It is NOT by works of righteousness which we have done (baptism is a work of righteousness) But By GODS MERCY that he saved us through the washing (through the baptism and regeneration (new birth) which is accomplishe BY THE HOLY SPIRIT (baptism of the spirit) (titus 3)

I can go on and on and on.

Jesus was given power when the spirit descended on him like a dove (anointed him) AFTER he was baptised. Not BECAUSE of the baptism. They were two seperate events.

Our annointing is no different, when we are sealed by the HS of promise, through the annointing of the HS, wher we are empowered from on high.

But if we are not baptized by God and made alive, Non of the above will even happen.

Once again, Baptism of the spirit is NOT what gives one person any gift, be it tongues, helps, prophesy, Teaching, giving, discenment, or whatever gift the HOLY SPIRIT deams is needed to edify and complete the local church so it can accomplish Gods will.

It is through the HOLY SPIRIT COMING INTO or ON a person, which is CALLED ANOINTING, not BAPTISM

As I said before, we receive the Holy Spirit when we are saved by the grace of God. There is NO "baptism" of the Holy Spirit. Quote the verse, if there is. With the noun, not the verb.
Noun, not the verb. Really? Of course each scripture has a reference to a verb. An action is occurring when the Holy Ghost fills, pours, etc.

The word states that a concept will be established by 2-3 witnesses within the word itself:
Upon receiving the Holy Ghost individuals spoke in an unknown tongue: Acts 2:1-4, 10:44-48, 19:1-6. In each of these cases the scripture specifically states:

"They were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues,..." Acts 2:4

"And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. For they heard them speak with tongues, Acts 10:45-46

"And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues" Acts 19:6

Paul's question to the Ephesus disciples proves a couple points. One, the Holy Ghost is not always received when one believes. Two, the individual will know without a doubt that they have received it:
He (Paul) said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? Acts 19:2

There are times when one must ask to receive the Holy Ghost. Otherwise Jesus would not have made the following statement:
“If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?” Luke 11:13

Peter said that repentance and water baptism in Jesus name’ was required and individuals shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. This promise was not only for those present but extended to as many as the Lord shall call. (Acts 2:38-39)

Again, keep in mind that the instructions and promise given by Peter on the Day of Pentecost was to continue until the Lord stopped drawing people unto Himself.

well, we are to turn aside from such as you are

you are leading people away from their Savior

and you will one day have to give an account of why you corrupted the very words of Christ and did so with passion
Ditto! Same goes for you!

your cruelty and demonic comments to those who believe the entire record of scripture is well known here

you have just shattered your glass house

you accuse people over and over and hurl scripture like a spear...even though it has no effect on us

however, it does reveal your corrupted beliefs

so, perhaps stop your own accusations and God will yet be merciful to you and melt your hard heart a little

I have nothing more to say to you

There is no truth in what you teach about tongues. You seem to wish to condemn those who point out your scriptural errors. Does the seem right to you? Being a prodigal does not mean that you are unsaved but it does speak to the relationship with the Father.

Lol. Why would I need to know they recieved the baptism They were baptized into Christ the moment god declared them saved according to the new covenant. Tongues has NOTHING to do with the baptism sis.

I asked for scripture which showed everyone spoke in tongues, Do you have one? (I gave scripture which shows NOT everyone spoke)
You misunderstand that scripture. Not all operate in the gift of tongues which is giving a message from God to the fellowship.

I’ve said this so many times now but experiencing seems to be the only way these are understood.

Plus...how do you think Jesus knew what was in the hearts of those around Him? He too received the anointing power of Father for ministry. And He moved in the fullness of the gifts.

We are in part, but the body is full.

Some people have to seriously look in the mirror. They accuse others of doing the same thing they have done multiple times.

Is it so difficult to just speak what we believe without having to try to tear others down by accusatory language? I tried to expose some one who was doing it by doing it back to that person. And probably because people reported it, a mod came in (which I am grateful for it shows the mods are watching.

Maybe he needs to come back again. Because every time I see people do this, I get so tempted to return it back to them, and it is not right.

mr grateful, if you despise my posts or me personally as much as you seem to do...and exhibit such uncontrolled desire to hurt in some manner, I would suggest...just suggesting mind you...that you actually do ignore me as you said you would do

your friend is not here to control you, so remember what he said

I think it would help you. doesn't matter to me at all one way or the other

however, you give yourself away with every childish and silly post and have no effect here at all

no one likes a person who tries to control everyone and everything around them as you try to do

People are saved WHEN they are baptised by God.

They are given gifts after the HS comes into (anoint) them, and gives them power

In the begining God used many gifts, Including speaking to people in their own language, prophesying, and many other things,

You can see in acts how the larger the church grew, things started to slow down. Because certain things were really no longer needed. If you read the new testament, You can see the same thing,

God works how he deems fit, and he works however he will. In my church, we thrive, and many people come to Christ, we have a HUGE college ministry, were people who have been contaminated with the world values in the schools, and are addicted to drugs and alcohol and sexual sin, come to Christ in droves, Many of those kids have through the years become leaders in our church, having witnessed first hand the power of god.

And not one time the gifts of tongues or prophesy been required or used, Because God did nto need those gifts.

does someone need to back and count the stupids and other names the cessationists have called others?

do we need to go back and count all the slurs and mockery done by people who are cessationists in the last few days?

do we perhaps need to remind others that calling people demonic is reportable?

is that what this is about? report a post while calling someone demonic?

I can go find those posts any time and I am sure the mods might like to read those before they make any judgement calls

No where does Paul state tongues is not important. Paul describes the different spiritual gifts. However, for some reason you wish to distort what scripture actually states.
True. In fact,to the individual it’s most important to have your own prayer language. It’s the door to ministry.

And it’s also why the enemy vehemently through believers even oppose it.

What spirit is behind this resistance? Fear is one. ( or spirits)

If you (broad "you", not just you two specifically) people cannot discuss a topic without these types of accusations, then stay out of the discussion.

so maybe just stop threatening others with a moderator when you are the one that was told to calm down

yes he WAS talking to everyone

using scripture to hurl at others like a javelin is just as bad as I have already stated to notuptome

Lol

1. You did not shw me anything I did not already know.
2. I always look up words. (My logos bible has multiple greek-hebrew lexicons, Dictionaries and helps of all kinds, Strongs is but one source.)
Many words have different meanings, so they must be taken in context. Stongs is one which gives multiple defenitions, as so many others do. So context is everything,

In our case, But building up a person or the body is always the same thing, no matter HOW it is done. It is encouraging them, strengthening, Helping them grow in Christ. Paul speaks of many things and many ways in which God helps a child or a body grow. We must not limit God

While I may agree, in the early church prophesy and tongues were used mightily (since the word was not yet complete) I do not agree wiht that today. God works in so many ways, you seem to be bent on trying to limit him

And I have tasted God in ways you can only imagine, the fact you even hint that I have not. That just hurts your case and shows you need to open up your mind some more. Because God works in so many ways, I fear you have not even imagined the way God works.

No need to be defensive.

Haha! I was a professional music and an exhibitionist before I was saved. Always an outgoing extrovert. So worry no more, My boundaries were thin before God saved me, and till I burned out with the excesses that even an ex-musician couldn't take in Pentecostal and charismatic churches. No inhibitions here!

As for insults, wow! You take the cake in that one. But again, your precious tongues are called out, and you always go back to the default position of tongues being important, instead of God being important. Sad!
No one is saying tongues is more important than God! You do realize this thread is about speaking in tongues don't you?
