Either or for me.....I want a Viking funeral.....build a massive funeral pyre, chunk me on it with about 10 gallons of diesel and light........or just dig a hole and chunk me in.........we return to dust anyway.......
Yes, cremation is burning. Scripture mentions a few different methods for dealing with dead bodies, but none is presented as preferable or "required" for Christians.
Both are ok. Neither is against Scripture. It comes down to what the person feels most comfortable with.

But isnt flesh subject to decay, while bones arent. In cremation, the cremations machine crushes the bones to powder. Its not just roasting the body. Also, once you are dead, its not your choice its whoevers left behind has to deal with your body. Didnt Joseph of Arithmea beg the body of Jesus? I wonder what would have happened to Jesus body if Joseph did not intervene and provide his family tomb for him.
MAry also anointed Jesus body for burial, Jesus somehow knew they would not burn him or crush his bones.
Well unless you plan on dying and being resurrected for the sins of the world I don't see how this point has any relevance to the rest of the world.
Isolating one specific instance with a set of special circumstances does not present a favorable argument. It's nothing more than grasping at straws to prove a point you want verified.
Those Christians incinerated at the WTC on 9-11 had no choosing.

No. Bones just take longer. All those who died thousands of years ago are just dust now. Bones too!
Burial is biblical, cremation is a pagan practice. Christians are generally not being taught about this important matter.

Sleep is a metaphor for physical death. The corpse gives the appearance of someone in sleep or repose, but for Christians, their souls and spirits are alive and awake in Heaven with Christ. Soul Sleep is false doctrine.
Except that ashes to ashes is TOTALLY FALSE. God created man out of the dust of the ground, not ashes. Dust to dust is biblical and correct.

This is just an emotional response and I know the person is dead, but I feel like burning the body is irreverent to God somehow ..... the Jews did bury their dead mostly, I know there were a few exceptions.
Can you elaborate on why the matter is important?
