"A woman's heart should be so hidden in Christ that a man has to seek Him first to find her." -- Maya Angelou
If you keep your focus on the Lord, everything else will fall into place.

Me too! It is one of my favorite quotes. I have been spending a lot of time recently thinking of the future and it has really helped. I hope it will help you too! =D

If they would rather look elsewhere then they aren't worth it. Christ should be first. Always.

A woman whose heart is hidden that deep in Christ probably hates men in general anyway. How many men in this world can really live up to that standard? Only one and his name is Jesus.

dude shes speaking in terms of holding a man accountable, making sure hes a man of god, a man ready for marriage, not a boy whose just in it for "fun", Mark driscoll has some good sermons man should check him out

Marshill.org.

the sermons are - Marriage and Men (trial series)
Sexual Sin (Religion Saves series)

these sermons deal with why christian women are looking to secular men for relationships, because alot of christian men are being like boys, as well as girls are lowering their standards, he also adresses with women setting to high of standard, (its really funny how he puts it), But i dont think this is how CarlyB was intending this saying to be interpretated

dude, you don't need to explain it to me. I know what it means and I know women would love a man like that. I'm just saying that such a high standard is totally unrealistic.

Its the same as saying "devote your life to Christ and your Prince Charming will come find you." Thats not what the bible preaches. It sounds good on paper but its not at all biblical. God doesn't promise anyone a perfect mate.

I'll tell you another reason why I don't particularly like this quote. Because it is all about pride. Its like a woman saying "My dedication to following Christ is so great that my heart is actually hidden deep inside Christ." Who can really boast about their faith like that?? I don't even think the apostles would say something like that. Jesus was not about pride. He was about humility and suffering and serving others.

dude i think your reading to much into the quote, shes simply saying her man should make christ first in his walk, if christ is first in the relationship, then thats a good start, this doesnt sound prideful, i mean yes i agree with you 100% none of us will ever be perfect, that isnt what the bible says, but we need to make christ our main focus in marriage, but christ is married to the church, so as you say you know all this.... which if you do, i think you would read the comment like you are... God Bless man,

I agree Zero - the quote is annoying and overused. It appears everywhere and should be destroyed.

But I have other reasons for disliking it. It creates the impression that women are holy and men are sinful, women are perfect and men are pagans, and when a man wants to date a Christian woman he needs to get involved with Christianity. Like in the movies, where a guy starts going to church so he can get with a girl that he's keen on. He needs to first pursue Christ so he can get the girl. Lovely sentiment.

Then again, I could be looking into it too much. I imagine this annoying quote has encouraged countless numbers of teenage girls not to settle for a bad boy or get involved with drugs and sex. I just wish I didn't have to hear and read this quote so much.

ok in your context i agree sharp, and Zeroturbulence if that is your angle as well, i will agree there, if this is being used as a front for christian women to say no to a christian guy, that is both silly and lame, be honest, be true, dont be rude and hide behind christ, were all in the body so therefore we need to be open and honest with one another

i think that christ should be the main focus first sharp, before a man thinks about marrying or persuing a woman, if he doesnt, they could be easily swayed into sin, and thus either having a broken heart, or a broken marriage or both, ive seen it alot as well, my moms marriage is an example :(

Yes, and notice that it was written by a woman too. It should really have read, "A person's heart should be so hidden....that their future mate has to seek Him...."

k thats getting a little sexist there bud, like whatever someones position is on this (like or hate), this is how the person feels, and she is putting it in the context of that christ should come first...

these threads are just getting a little out of context.
