Peter Said Lord You Are Not Going To Wash My Feet,
As was usual, Peter did not understand what Jesus was
about to do. It was after they ate the supper, the final
meal they would have together. So by making Himself
lowly, Jesus becomes the servant of all. He said I did not
come to be served but to serve. At this time Jesus knew
what was about to happen to Him that He was about to be
led to His greatest sacrifice of mankind and that is to die
to for our brother. Of the four gospels, the first three have
the last supper of Christ. The gospel of John is different in
that Jesus was to sacrifice Himself for the world through the
cross. In John. Jesus sacrifices on a personal level to His
apostles by surrendering Himself to become a servant. To
show that we should serve and not wait to be served. This
is the ultimate sacrifice to give ourselves to our brother. As
I look at it, Jesus opened His public ministry with a feast
which was the wedding banquet and ended His ministry at
the feast of the last supper. By coincidence, He changed
the water into the most best wine of all. Or He enhanced
baptism into the power of the Holy Spirit who would live in
those who surrender to Him. In The end, He took the symbol
of the wine into His own blood which would soon be spilled on
the cross.
