Jesus did not give everything because if he had he would have given his life, his hope his integrity which he did not do.
Maybe I am misunderstanding your statement. Jesus did GIVE ALL. He left the throne in heaven ,came to earth,GAVE His life for the salvation of OUR sinful souls! Could anyone GIVE their life for the unclean abd unlivable?🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Earthly ones, sure.
But is this parable really teaching earthly things? Is the lesson that the merchant is an idiot? :p
Idk I have oft pondered the verses on worldly riches being of no value and then I get somewhat confused.

1 Pearl sold = many loaves of bread to feed with. In this day and age we can't even have land to till for bread unless we have something to trade.

^Slightly off topic but it always comes up mentally ;)

Earth is not a bad place to live on after all.

Gave his life for our salvation; but he did not give everything.

The merchant are you with the word of god in front.

so you think that you purchase Christ, who is the Word of God?

sorry m8, that does not fit. your preacher is wrong - you ought to either teach him the truth, or get a different preacher.

you were bought with a price
(1 Corinthians 6:20)
you were bought with a price
(1 Corinthians 7:20)
the church of God, which He bought with His own blood
(Acts 20:28)
Christ redeemed us
(Galatians 3:13)
it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ
(1 Peter 1:18-19)
to Him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by His blood
(Revelation 1:5)
our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us to redeem us
(Titus 2:13-14)
You were slain, and purchased for God with Your blood men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation
(Revelation 5:9)

why do you imagine a merchant that sells the traits of his own character to purchase a product?
what kind of business are you in, lol

couple of things about the price of a man:

What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?
Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?
(Matthew 16:26)

  1. it is worth more than the whole world
  2. you are completely incapable of paying for it yourself

Christ purchased us all.
What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off?
(Matthew 18:12)
the devil took Him to a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor.
“All this I will give You,” he said, “if You will bow down and worship me.”
(Matthew 4:8-9)

but they are already His:

Ask of me, and I shall give Thee the heathen for Thine inheritance,
and the uttermost parts of the earth for Thy possession.
(Psalm 2:8)
for the kingdom is the LORD's and He rules over the nations
(Psalm 22:28)
the silver is Mine and the gold is Mine,
declares the LORD of Hosts.
(Haggai 2:8)
for every beast of the forest is Mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills
(Psalm 50:10)
O LORD our God,
all this abundance that we have provided for building You a house for Your holy name comes from Your hand and is all Your own.
(1 Chronicles 29:16)

however how did He appear to us?

foxes have dens and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay His head
(Luke 9:58)
bring Me a denarius to look at
(Mark 12:15)
take the first fish you catch; open its mouth and you will find a four-drachma coin.
(Matthew 17:27)
why?
