Submitting to God’s will for our life?

If someone submits to this, do they still ask for things in prayer?

Reason being, if you are at peace knowing God is looking out for you and knows what you want and need, wouldn’t asking for certain things show just a smidge of doubt?

I also recall: Romans 8:26
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.

1 Thessalonians 5:17-18 Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.


1 Thess 5:17 is just one verse instructing us to pray. There are many others.

Since it is God's Will that we pray, wouldn't we be "submitting to God's will for our life" when we pray?

Hi @TM19782017, the Lord knows what we need before we ask Him for it, of course, but we still need to ask .. Matthew 7:7-11; John 16:24. He wants to have a relationship with us, His children, and He is, of course, keenly aware of just how much we need to have a growing relationship with Him as well .. e.g. Proverbs 3:5-6; Matthew 7:22-23; John 17:3 cf Philippians 4:6-7

Renewing our minds through His word and in prayer, such that we abide in Him and in His will, assures us that what we ask Him for we will also receive .. e.g. 1 John 3:21-22 cf Psalm 37:4; James 4:2b-3.

I agree with @Deuteronomy a relationship with God requires constant communication with Him. I'm thinking about how Jesus often departed to talk to the Father.

Some scriptures that come to mind are

Luke 2:36-37

36 And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity;

37 And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.

Luke 23:34

34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

Even on the cross fulfilling part of the will of God for His life on earth Jesus prays "Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do"

How do Christians submit to God through sanctification?

My view.....pray for everyone else first, ourselves last and God knows what we need...........
