Jesusfreak, i'm still working on alot of issue myself but don't let the demons and their voices try and use your past to tell you that you are not worthy. If you profess Jesus as your savior and ask the Holy spirit into your heart and your life, then you have already been chosen by God to be one of His children. that is the meaning of grace. We did not earn it, we did not ask for it. we received it because someone prayed for us and God granted that prayer and sent the desire to know Him and see the error of our ways. Look at the world, many people more and do things without the benefit of grace.

Now reason with me, if you adopted a child and it didn't listen to your every commandment would you disinherit that child and toss it into the street? You who have sinned and are not perfect would not abandon that child. Why then would God abandon you once you have been adopted into the family?

You can not lose your salvation but you should do things to please your Heavenly Father out of love and so you don't suffer and feel His wrath. Salvation doesn't mean you won't be punished for your sins. It means you won't be sent to Hell and abandoned to be consumed by the fire. God is Just.
I will pray for you and that God will lead you through whatever you are going through.

Lord you know the needs of your people before we ask of them. we pray that you grant us understanding of your will and give us comfort in your love and mercy. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

I mean, Don't get me wrong, I live my life for God. God is the center of my life. But I didn't know if you can lose it or not. I had friends that said they were saved, but did every worldly thing possible. And think it's not bad because they're saved.

wait,,,,not to judge them wrong, but if they proclaim Christ as the Lord and love the world then they do not love the Father.....If they do what the world does and is not trying to stay away from evil then that is wrong .(people still do act worldy while trying to be Christians don't get me wrong). The answer is there, in the scriptures. Read the article for specifics. You can lose it. If a person is living in sin they are not saved.

I'm sorry I've read it all and I don't get the idea. I disagree with your definition of Grace and Salvation. God's ways are higher then our ways.

We are God's children that is assured for those who are true believers.

the parable of the sower for example.

1. the seed that gets snatches up by birds. Jesus tells us that is the person who hears the word of God and doesn't listen because Satan takes it from their heart.

2. stony ground is the person who believes for a while but has no roots, does not study the word of God, does not remove the stones and the seed does not take root in their heart.

3. thorny ground: is a person who lets the weeds or the cares of the world choke out the message and the plant does not take root and grow

4.fertile ground or the true believer. These are the people who have found salvation and have grace. grace is what God does to get rid of the stones in our heart, it is what is done to us to show us how the world does not have the answers and turns us towards God. that is what I think Grace is.

If you have grace and accepted the salvation of Christ. then the fruits of the Spirit will be evident in your life. Galatians 5 talks about the fruit of the spirit.

You just have to weed your garden so the cares of the world doesn't choke out the seeds God is planting in your life and you will see the fruits in you life more abundantly.

You say you believe that Jesus died on the cross for our sins but do you REALLY believe it? if our sins are forgiven then isn't that salvation? God wants us to work towards becoming more like Jesus, but we are human. We are not perfect, we will fall and sin again. What God asks of us is to repent and acknowledge when this happens and continue to struggle towards perfection. We are to walk towards God but I have yet to hear of someone beside Jesus who died perfect and without making a mistake or harming someone else. Without grace no one would make it to Heaven, we all make mistakes and are lacking.

I'm not saying Christians don't sin. What I am saying is that they don't live in sin. When they sin, they repent of it and God is faithful to forgive them. If a person is a drunkard, a liar, a murderer, a thief, or in whatever way is living in a pattern of unrepentant sin, those are not the characteristics of someone who has been saved from sin. Read 1 John 3 which I posted above, which talks about practicing righteousness versus practicing sin.

7 Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. 8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. Salvation is not by works. That doesn't mean the power of God is of no effect, as if to say we can just go right on sinning, turning the grace of our God into lewdness.

God will forgive you of all sin... if you repent. If you are practicing sin, living in a state of sin, that's unrepentant.

I hear two different sides. Some people say you can lose your Salvation, and some say you can't. Which one is it?!

OSAS (Once Save Always Saved), the common belief that once a person is saved he is saved fully and can never loose his/her salvation.
To make excuses for this they will often say anyone who has fallen from the faith was simply "never a true convert". While this may be true for some, I do believe that a person can be a true convert and for some reason in life back slide so far they that they loose their salvation. Scripture refers to this as "trodden under foot the Son of God" and numerous other references.

I present this summary another Christian posted online:

"We are to repent to get salvation
Salvation is a GIFT not earned by us
But Salvation can be negated by sin
And can be retrieved again through
sincere confession and forsaking.

That:

The unrighteous will not inherit the Kingdom of God
The Righteous can become unrighteous through sin
The unrighteous can turn to God to become righteous again

And that:

If our salvation is lost through sin and we stray away, God is faithful to fulfill His promise of forgiveness if we come back. If we do not come back, God is faithful to fulfill His promise to destroy us.

God wants to save us through a covenant, or agreement with us. He wants us to have a continual relationship with Him, walking in the Light, by which we are kept in His saving power.

One of the last calvin doctrines is of Grace, that is a Christian will always sin and through "god's abounding grace" we will never sin even though we are sinning because God will perpetually forgive while we are sinning.... An odd statement generally put -- "I'm just a no good sinner, saved by Grace!". God tells us, however, we should remain pure and be like Christ. In order to do this we must strive to be sinless in our lives -- this is also a testimony to others. IF we sin we have an advocate with the Father and he is just to forgive us our sins. That does not mean we will continually sin, it means IF we do, therefore I believe it is possible to remain sinless if we abide and grow in Christ through our daily lives.
Scripture says:
Heb 10:26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
.....

My own summary of Calvanism, gathered from sources.

1) God knows who will choose him, because God is all knowing.
2) We do have a freewill, without one there's no sense in preaching the Gospel because you were either elected for Hell or Heaven before the foundations of the earth. We'd all be God's little robots.
‎3) This also allows people to live a life of sinful pleasures since if we consider ourselves "elected" and fall-away from the faith it doesn't matter, we are "in" and sin is irrelevant, we'll just sin and repent indefinitely without trying to become more like Christ and improve ourselves.
4) False conversion ratio for people who believe this is high for the reasons mentioned. A lot of people think they are saved and do a complete 180 and denounce God because they never really new him and thought God was all love and would allow them to continue in their sins without repentance... :/

I'm sure this will spark Calvanist/Arminian/Synergists debate, but I don't wish to comment further on this. Read the Bible for yourselves, and prayerfully consider scriptures on both sides.
In The DVD by Dave Hunt called ‘What Love Is This?’, he made a very interesting observation. In order
for Calvinism to be true, they would have to change the meaning of words in certain verses to fit their
theology. For example:
‘World’ must be changed to ‘Elect’ 20 times
‘Whoever’ must be changed to ‘Elect’ 16 times
‘Whosoever’ must be changed to ‘Elect’ 16 times
‘All’ must be changed to ‘Elect’ 16 times
‘Everyman’ must be changed to ‘Elect’ 6 times
That is over seventy times that they must change the meaning of certain words in Scripture to fit their
doctrine. None of us have the right to destroy Scripture this way. Changing the meaning of words to fit
your doctrine is something false prophets do and something that the Bible warns us about specifically.
Changing Scripture is something the devil would be the author of and not God.

John 3:14-17

Whosoever means whosoever. It is really that simple. Let the Bible determine what you believe and
don’t let what you believe determine what you think the Bible says.

With this one statement, Mr. Macarthur goes completely against Scripture. So are you filtering your ideas
and the Bible through Reformed Theology, or do you trust the Word of God to do all of the filtering for you
in deciding what is right and what is wrong?

In the Reformed/Calvinistic teaching, when God’s irresistible grace comes upon you, there is nothing you
can do about it. So before anyone can believe, God must first choose to send His irresistible grace upon
that person, so they can believe. So again, you have no choice in the matter.

But in the great story of Stephen in Acts 7, people do have the ability to resist God. Verse 51 says, "Ye
stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did,
so do ye." Yes, you can resist the Holy Ghost. People do it all the time. The question is when will you
surrender to the Holy Ghost?
Galatians 3:1 "O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth,
before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?"
Who has bewitched you to follow this false doctrine? One of the amazing things I have found when I talk
to both Calvinists and people who have left Calvinism is that they never tell me they found Calvinistic
teachings reading their Bibles. They always tell me they found them reading someone’s book or listening
to someone’s teaching tapes! Who has bewitched you?

Colossians 2:8 "Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the
tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ."
The manmade philosophy of Calvinism is just that: manmade. You do not find it by studying the
Scriptures.

Redeemer? Every heresy, if brought to the touchstone, will discover itself here. I have my own private
opinion that there is no such thing as preaching Christ and Him crucified, unless we preach what

This is one of the saddest statements I have ever heard. Calvinism is not the gospel or the good news.
1 Corinthians 15:3-6 tells us what that good news is!!

Simply put, live like every day is your last. Preach the Word! In season and out of season. If you do this you can have assurance of salvation. Jesus will never leave you or forsake you, but you can leave him.

I think Paul was telling us about the works of the devil so we could recognize the seeds the devil plants in our own lives. Jesus talks about how God plants grain and the Enemy comes at night an sow thorns.

I was listening to an audiobook that was entitled "Love Boldly" it talked about how to recognize evil people which isn't as easy as you would think. There is a coldness that is well hidden, satan has his grasp on that person soul and doesn't want to let go. The book talks about what to expect and how to pray and stand firm if you are in a relationship with an evil person. He talks about setting boundaries and praying for them and showing them God's love knowing that they will not appreciate it and will probably get very angry. It talks about how you have to find out what that person has power over you with. Evil people know what makes you cringe and how to manipulate your base desires. He gave the example of how this evil man was mean to his daughter in law and would make cutting remarks and put downs that had double meanings so that if confronted he could pretend to be innocent and misunderstood. the man's son said if he confronted his father he stood to lose 5 million dollars of inheritance so he allowed the man to torment his wife without saying anything. He explained the concept of grace and how you can recognize when it is moving in that person's life. They will tell you they were evil and they will ask to know more about God and will walk towards the light. Evil will avoid the light and run far away from God and the truth.

Most of the people who read this post are probably saved and working towards God, but I think the point of a lot of the scriptures you quoted above is to warn us of the dangers and equip us for the spiritual warfare we will have to wage to win the souls of others and help them find the desire to work towards a closer relationship with God. They are our sign post and warning signs to direct our paths. However if someone forces you to walk a mile walk with him two and perhaps by the end of the two he will listen and follow you back to the right path: the one leading to God.

Well... here is what I mean. MOST Christians say they are Christians, they have accepted Jesus but have not done what He said, follow me.

Jesus went into the world and hung out even where sinners hung out, to try to win over sinners.

Now, its not what you do... its more about what you haven't done yet.

Jesus wanted HIS followers to FIRST:

Cut off the world totally and fully for a short period of time ... MOST have never done this.

HE went to the desert for 40 days, not saying you have to do that, but you and me, we can sure:

MAKE our life a desert for forty days. WHAT is a desert like?

No friends, no TV, no music, nothing but silence and GOD for a while.

Now... When I first came to Christ, I figured, let me make my life a desert minus the fasting... I had to work so I needed energy.

BUT. I pulled the plug on my computer, TV, RADIO ... and I was either at work OR.

I WAS HOME reading my BIBLE or going on walks with GOD.. PERIOD. Phone calls I kept under a minute as well and ONLY if someone called me, I did not CALL out at ALL... made my life a desert for 40 days and read the entire New Testament in that time asking for what?

JUST three things:

1. God, please give me the SPIRIT of Jesus Christ within me, a new nature beaciuse this one is broken and prone to want sin, I am a sin loving wanting needing machine.


2. GOD please give me the Living Water within me as it says in John -- Living Water will burst out from the belly within you! I want this God, whatever this is in Jesus name!

3. GOD.. I want to go to heaven ... now, I want heaven now either take me there now and take me out of this world OR.. GIVE me heaven within me, whatever that means God, LET me wake up feeling heaven one way or another because IT IS SAID THAT JESUS came back to undo the works of the devil RIGHT GOD? AND IT SAYS that Jesus said "IT IS FINISHED!" on the cross RIGHT GOD? AND THE FIRST WORK the devil did is to remove EDEN from us humans, right GOD? SO.. technically from what it says YOU GOD CAN GIVE ME Eden now? You can be MY GOD AS YOU WERE TO ADAM, open, revealed and give me a NON FALLEN nature, right GOD? THAT'S WHAT I WANT GOD and THAT is why I am reading this GOSPEL! TO GET THESE!

Amen in JESUS NAME.


NOW I asked this each day and set apart 40 days to read all the gospel, which was 200 pages I decided to read X number of pages for that much time to get WHAT I ASKED FOR... and ONLY WHAT I ASKED FOR!

i actually really like this. thanks for posting. a friend and I are reading the Bible and only books by Christian writers for the next forty days of Lent which is the time Jesus went into the desert. It started March 9th this year.

I still thinking fasting refers to doing good works. its in the bible Isaiah 58 v. 6-9

sorry about being off topic but salvation involves growing in the Lord and learning the words of the Bible allows us to have deep roots.

I hear two different sides. Some people say you can lose your Salvation, and some say you can't. Which one is it?!

you have received christ? now you must set aside some time to seek him.
that you may know the lord that you are worshipping.
build up your foundation, a strong foundation wont get blown in the wind,tossed to and fro by doctrine.
knowledge is the srong foundation. show JESUS that you realy love him, not by lips only. but by works
also.
