God is laying before man a principle.

A fool says in his heart, I can sow to my sinful nature, but reap eternal life, and God forgives the sin I do
because it is not me doing it, it is my flesh, while my eternal spirit is pure, holy and righteous.

The fool has already blinded themselves to the destruction and death that is happening within, and cries
aloud how evil and wrong the righteous are, liars and hypocrites, while they have the road to life, not seeing,
smelling and knowing the rot and decay that is happening all around. When the fool meets Jesus and cries
Lord, Lord they will be ignored and told "I do not know you evil doer"

Imagine the confusion in them on that day, no different than if God appears speaking the same words I share
now by their shoulder and they know it is Jesus. And my brothers and sisters in Christ, it is a reality no different
than this. The disciples themselves were confused as to Jesus's intentions, they did not feel close to Him or
quite what was going on. When the Spirit fell things started to fit into place, but the reality is the reality we
have today. The veil is not a mysterious other place, just the realities becoming plain. Sin has always been
sin and the lost always excuse it, and lash out in hatred and anger at those who walk in the light, because
they know they are in darkness and have no answers, which is truly terrible and binding. If only they would
call out in honesty and truth to Jesus, He will answer, Praise the Lord, Amen.

Godly sorrow leads us to desire to walk in the ways of love, the ways of God, the ways of righteousness.
And yes part of this is changing our minds to accept God the King and His ways are best.

I think though these words seem to be what you are claiming to follow, yet clearly not as you seem to
want to disagree. If I have love bursting from my heart and victory in my walk, what am I to you?

You seem to talk about godly sorrow which leads to repentance yet I am talking about repentance itself. This is what i am trying to explain to Jackson...No problem with our desire to walk and live with Christ. That is the fruit of living, abiding in Christ.

Why did you not finish the passage? Can you share where it tells us...

1. When they stopped these sins
2. When they cleansed themselves

3. Who actually did the cleaning?
4. Who did the justifying?
5. Who did the sanctifying?


1 cor 6: 11
11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
but it also says such WERE some of you. meaning they stopped doing those things. otherwise they would still be "are"

Earlier this morning I awakened to a thunderstorm. Now there’s not a cloud in the sky. God’s magnificence is on full display.

His grandeur is a beautiful analogy of how our lives are as unrepentant sinners (thunderstorm) and how God’s grace shines upon us when having faith in Jesus Christ (sunshine). Though we will always endure “storms”, His grace is sufficient.

Ok. If you are prepared to conceptualise your language it might help.
For me repentance is the process of being in sin, and justifying the behaviour as ok and what you want to do,
to getting to a place where one walks in Jesus's ways, desiring to do good and avoid evil.
Scripture talks about turning, ie a direction away from God to a direction towards God.
It is the changing of enjoying sin to feeling sad about sin and rejoicing in good behaviour.
In overview it is taking on the view of God has towards sin and putting it into action.
There are hints at the motivations in our hearts that sow the seeds.
The dwelling on the passions of the flesh. The creation of ideas to sin, then actually sinful behaviour.

We have purification of our hearts, changing our focus, love ruling and being our aspirations and goal.
We have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, the fruits of the spirit, the resolution of hurts, pain, revenge,
unforgiveness, meeting of needs, openness to vulnerability and rejection through expressing love.

So this is a vast subject and involves everything that we are, and forums like this have threads on such
subjects. Unfortunately almost everyone who uses the words, change your mind, means a totally
superficial I like this rather than that attitude. It is difficult to not get upset when people regard these
things are equivalent, as if they are speaking with authority.

Jesus went to the cross to bring us repentance, eternal reconciliation to God, a transformation from
sinner into the likeness of Jesus, yet it is just like going to the films, or having a pool in the back garden.

So when people start on this topic, they often declare their ignorance of the subject which is so dear
to Jesus and our faith, yet is talked about with such disdain it is shocking. Repentance is a life long
walk, and some would say, we never stop being repentant in attitude. I would temper this with victory
and praise.

I did think though that the attitude expressed by some and their obvious rebellion leads me to mourning,
deep sadness at the arrogance and rebellion against the guilt and failure we all bear, each and every day.

Once sin is not humbling, what hope is there for anyone? God bless you.

This is probably another topic but I do see a difference between the kingdom of God, and the kingdom of heaven. There’s a scripture that says the kingdom of God is within us. That would be in my thinking, Jesus as Lord in our life. If this is so, would this not put a different spin on this scripture?

I may be totally wrong..have never heard anyone else say this but hey...nothing new under the sun.

It did not say they stopped
It said they were washed justified and sanctified.
The corinthian church was being chastened for all their sexual sin among other sins.

The corinthian church had to be washed, sanctified and justified in the name of jesus.

How do they do this? By placing their faiht in him.

Stopping their sin would not help them..

But coming to Christ and being saved would do great wonders in empowering them to stop those sins.

But God never promised anyone that they would be perfect. UNTIL we are glorified.

In any conversation both parties agree to follow the details along so each know what is
being said. Clearly some conversations here are like digital sta....t....ic have lots of holes
and disconnected ch.....unks.

It reminds me of people who say I am saved by faith, except this is passive faith not
working faith, and evil, destroyed people addicted to sin, can continue in their state
like nothings happened, but they have the badge so it is all ok. When you go to prisons
and meet the guys there who truly are evil, you want God to be able to separate these guys
from anything related to heaven and His word, unless you are really nuts.

This kind of logic is why the salvation army wore a uniform and were tee total. The number
of alcoholics they dealt with along with the violence and abuse, any compromise was just too
far. This is not legalism or earning salvation, but the real meaning of being cleansed and purified
through repentance and being 100% committed to following the King.

Now I can imagine those who sit isolated in their protected lives with insurance, a nice car, alarms,
etc. and never go near people with difficulties, this all sounds other worldly, and they are ok just as
they are. But this is the problem, Jesus saves the thief on the cross, a place of total abandonment
and vulnerability where everything is stark and brutal, and here there is no politeness or protection,
it is either love in Christ or true despair. God bless you

EG does not believe they were ever believers even when Paul says " not associate with anyone who calls himself a brother "
Paul does not even bother to mention their faith history, just leave them alone, because whatever they were they are not
going to inherit the kingdom of God.

You never get it right. You have not since you were peterjems, I doubt you will ever..

Your stubborn that way.

David was an aduterer. And this was after he was declaried a man after Gods heart. Abraham was an aduterer. And this was after he was declaired righteous.

Oh I do.

I just do not believe that those who are washed, sanctified and justified, are going to hell..

It does not mean those people will no longer sin.. Thats your faulty view. The OT and even the book of corinthians shows otherwise.

Search for "dear reader" and who comes up, many different folks.

I suspect EG wants something so deeply it annoys him beyond belief.
Getting those he opposes removed by whatever means. Why would this drive someone who is
full of the Holy Spirit, resting in Christ and wanting to share His love and gracious behaviour.

So let us wonder at what kind of heart pursues this line of argument on a public forum talking
about things of God? Is the God he follows not capable of removing members if that was His will?
Is the God he follows so deaf to this urgent need, that above anything else this is the most important
issue to address?

My point to you is you have this idea that there is value in picking on individuals.
You do not know me, so it is a very odd idea you want to follow.

My only guess is when you get annoyed it bugs you so much, like an annoying itch,
you cannot stop hitting it and trying to get rid of it. One cure to this behaviour is
to expose yourself to such stimuli and then learn not to react.

What does concern me is when people have a God complex, where they believe they
have the authority to put people right on interpretations of faith, and start to call this
sin and evil. It is these God complexes that led to terrible behaviours in the past where
innocents were forced to confess things while being tortured. But I will always say
God bless you, may Jesus and His love come to fill your life until nothing can keep it in.
