No the 1960's Catholic dominated Port of Los Angeles for my self. Other than school teachers and doctors. I don't think I knew anyone that went to college.

My father was a Fish Cannery worker and all my uncles were factory workers, fishermen and long shoreman. None of my aunt's worked after having children either. and they were all married in there teens and twenties. Only two knew how to drive.
Too funny again Mr. Bob..... My sister older than me went to an all women Private High School in the late 1960's...her entire graduating class went into various profession.

I guess it depends on the crowd you run with :D

But I agree those women were forerunners for sure.

Who you run with? Well sons of fishermen, truck drivers, house painters, dock workers, landscapers and other assorted middle class workers but your idea of private school and mine I suspect are quite different. Mine cost $35 per month 9 mos. a year or $300 a year if paid in full at the beginning of the year.

No science, art, music or government. Algebra, Latin, French, typing, drafting & drivers ed., were electives. Catechism was mandatory every day.

I was involve in an accident and received $2000 so my parent's asked how I like to spend it. So I chose a better school than the double over capacity public school, and a car. I know how much it cost because I paid for it.

The school didn't teach any thing that contradicted catholic dogma so science was out. The Priest's all spoke Latin and they happened to already had a math teacher from France so he taught French also.

That is strange about science, I never knew gravity contradicted Catholic dogma:D

Many priests in Europe pioneered in many areas of science like engineering and even genetics. Priests at the start of the last century have typically been very well educated and helped start various Universities throughout North America.

However on the other hand not surprised... there is also a lot of closed mindedness and intellectual repression in the Catholicism too ;)

Yes... I was making a joke.

I have hung out with a wide variety of people all my life to give a more direct answer.

Boys didn't need to know about sex education, Birth control was a mortal sin. Evolution is a lie. The earth is less then 5000 years old. Etc.

I dislocated my knee in '74 and haven't been able to run since.
I broke out of the catholic blinders in my late teens.

Sure that was for the masses for control... the Church always pursued knowledge behind the scenes

Well it grounded me but I got over it. I have a titanium knee implant now. I sure found out about the RCC as time went on. The brain washing techniques and adopting pagan holidays their calendar. Portraying Mary Madeline as a prostitute on false assumptions. My family came against me when I denounced the Vatican and chose Jesus and the Bible over penance and misc. assorted holy baloney as the way to salvation. Dinner calls but now you understand why I take the stance that Adam and Eve are a newer creation than Gen ch. 1. Men and women. But again dinner calls, gotta go.

You don't have to be. But if genesis 1 & 2 are similar stories but at different time lines, that would explain the fossil records and possibly the reason for the Gen 6 verse the sons of God married the daughters of men.

Just a thought since the Bible is not a science book and God dosn't need to explain himself to us. It has nothing to do with the overall message of redemption or salvation. It could explain part of the rift between Science and traditional Theology though.

There is a lot of political talk about taxing big companies and taxing the rich today.
People need to understand a simple fact.
Any time taxes are increased on any company, that tax is passed on to the consumer.
Every company or business has a certain amount of profit that it must make to remain in business.
If that profit is not made, the business will close.

Same can be said of the rich.
They decide how much they need each year to continue their lifestyle and will find a way to make it.
Any increase in taxes, guess who will pay, the consumer.

I ran my own business for 47 years and every year I determined how much money I need to make to make the 60-70 hours a week I worked worthwhile and set my prices accordingly.
When cost went up, whether cost of product, labor, TAXES, my prices went up accordingly.

Everything the government promises to give you has a price and that price will ultimately be pay by you the consumer.
I bet you were not even the "rich" not the top 1%....

Emagine what happens with taxing the "rich".....

NOTHING!!!!

If taxes really fell of the "rich", what will taxes do to the "MIDDLEMAN?
