Jesus said all you have, not just your extra.

This is what we call watering downs gods commands.

(And he did not want him to sell everything he just tried to show him where his heart was. God knows where our heart is. Thats why he comes at every one of us in different ways. As he did back then)
You don't know the scriptures. Christ said if you have two coats give one away. He didn'tsay give both away. This is why the Holy Spirit is needed because otherwise one starts operating exactly like the pharisees condemning others for violations of the law when they clearly don't understand it well enough to make judgment.

Paul had money to travel and to pay for his brethren taking the nazarite vow. He had a job making tents to earn money. Are you claiming Paul didn't obey Christ too?

Who should I ask Bro?

Sorry but i find it hard to accept that i should listen to other voices than the voice of Truth who says that He is the Lord.(not your servant)

This is what the Lord says— your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go. If only you had paid attention to my commands, your peace would have been like a river, your righteousness like the waves of the sea. Your descendants would have been like the sand, your children like its numberless grains; their name would never be cut off nor destroyed from before me.” Isaiah 48:17-19

James 3:1-2
Not many of you should presume to be teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly. We all stumble in many ways. If anyone is never at fault in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to keep his whole body in check.

If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:11
I do not know if I have welcomed you but in case I haven't "Welcome" . I like the verses you have brought here. It is always good to meet a servant of the Lord. Looking forward to more. Gods Blessings upon you.

 I mean really?

Jesus told him he needed to do one more thing

If he needed to do it, it means HE HAS NOT KEPT THE LAW SINCE BIRTH!

Your math skills are lacking
And your reading skills leave much to be desired.

No matter how much you fight you can't deny the truth of what christ said.

To have eternal life christ said to obey the commandments and to follow him.

If you must know, I have sold everything extra, treasured possessions I had, and given the proceeds to the poor or to charities. Gone forever. I have no extras. The only things I have is the stuff I need to earn money from one day to the next and to live. Like Paul. I live a common life.

I rent, have a computer for work, a phone for communication and work, and a few articles of clothing. Yes, everything else i had acquired has been given away.

This isn't a game or a joke to me.

I'm not pretending in this walk.

This is serious. Life and death.

...but even if I hadn't done those things, would that somehow disprove Christ's words as valid or true? Or somehow invalidate me to preach or teach Christ's true words?

Of course not.

The implication behind the question is fallacious.
Hey Y,

Your sincerity is humbling!

"all these I have kept"
"do not bear false witness"
"good teacher"
I'm not trying to falsely assume what you mean so can you tell me what this post is supposed to communicate? Thanks

Greeting W,

DeighAnn has reminded me where my manners weren't! WELCOME! Your desire to acquiesce to the Holy Spirit over those of men is notable!

o so you only 'kind of kept the command, maybe mostly but not really'

is it a habit with you to remove jots and tittles from everything, then?

Wow, now that aggression may be listed below!:

Take a break PH!

Gal 5:21-22 NIV and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. (22) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

Paul got his Gospel directly from Christ.
During his ministry Jesus teachings were aimed primarily at Jews who were still under the law .
There were no Christians until after his death and resurrection. So telling ''us'' about the law makes no sense. The Mosaic Law was given to Israel not to anyone else.
Knowing the difference between right and wrong and morality in general can be found in many cultures and religious belief systems
both then and now. The Patriarchs didn't have the law of Moses to consult. Being made in Gods image refers to our inner selves not
outward appearance or letter. Truth is not in the letter but in the spirit.

And when he was demanded of the Pharisees when the Kingdom of God shall come
he answered them and said the Kingdom of God cometh not with observation
neither shall they say lo here or lo there for behold the Kingdom of God is
within you Luke 17:20 - 21
This is what I believe now. For some 30 years I was taught that everything the earthly Jesus said was applicable to us.

If that were true then Christians would have to offer sacrifices, sell their material assets and give alms, keep the Sabbath, well ....... keep all the 613 ordinances of the Law of Moses.

The funny thing is that most people here utterly disagree with me but don't do any of the above things.

Yet had they followed the law with FAITH, they would have.

Romans 9:30 What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith
They knew nothing about living under the law so they accepted Christ through pure faith. And faith come by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. And the laws they followed became law to them.

Romans 9:31 But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness hath not attained to the law of righteousness.
Those who were born and raised under the law, didn't catch onto where the law was leading them. They only saw it for the "outer" man, never internalizing, therefore never having come about the changes of the inner man and the love of God all that would produce.

Romans 9:32 Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone
It would seem that before THE RISEN CHRIST, Faith was NOT a gift, wouldn't it? If it had been the Israel would not have stumbled.

Romans 9:33 As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence and whosoever believeth on Him shall not be ashamed
And it was prophecy it would happen.

And what have we now.

now, Jesus is being accepted and but the law is being rejected by the "new Pharisee" type, so limiting them from much of the Word of God. In bondage to a set of rules limiting works, deeds, law, repentance, speech....

And, yet now, there is also those who elect to embrace the Lcord Jesus Christ the Saviour, and to embrace the law that allows us to recognize our sins and to "put them away" as we journey toward our Lord God. Free of any bondage to the flesh carnal man, free of any bondage to a law of death, free of any bondage to traditions of man, Free to repent, Free to be washed clean daily, Free to not be perfect because He was and as such is able to offer the blood of infinite value to wash away sin, Free to not fear death, Free to not fear Judgment, Free to use ALL the Word of God.
The blood sacrifices applied to the mercy seat on the ark of the covenant by the high priest once a year served as a atonment ( a covering) for the sins of the people. The sins were not taken away only covered until He who was able to make a perpetual offering came forth. So is it just that I receive chastisment and then forgivness? . If I recive chastisment I am delt with as a son .My childern when they were very young ,and into all sorts of mischief, knew there would be consequences. They would some time say they where sorry trying to avoid discipline however if it was serious enough that discipline was needed discipline was given. After discipline they never ask me to forgive them. Why should they after disicpline they where free of the gilt. Because you are a child of God you may ask for forgivness but I can assure you discipline will come.

The problem with Jewish Law, is that it was given to the Jews, for the Jews. This meant loving your Jewish neighbour and not murdering your fellow Jew, but as for anyone else they could steal their cattle and valuables, burn their cities, kill all the male captives and keep women children, that have not known a man by lying with them for themselves.

Owned.

And let's in addition assume I've done absolutely nothing that Christ said.

Didn't Christ STILL say "obey the commandments and follow him" to inherit eternal life?

i agree; it is funny how they like to quote, 'not one jot or tittle shall pass away' -- and then remove more than half of the jots and tittles themselves.

that's not necessarily '
funny' in a humorous way. in fact it's honestly depressing.

Would it be against the Laws of God to post to this site if you are on a job and are being paid to do work other than posting to this forum? If so what would it be?

Thou shalt not steal?

What else?

I will be the first to admit that it is easy to overlook the obvious infraction when our zeal is up. Above reproach is the thought.
