Brown Recluses scare me more than Black Widows. You cannot hardly detect there bite. I had one crawl across my forearm, early afternoon about 2:00, as I say on the lawn pulling weeds. By 6:00 P.M. I notice my arm was hurting, and found the two tell tail rotting Holes where he bit me. They are small about 1/2 inch across, some are bigger.

They have a distinctive FIDDLE on their Back. Here are photos how bad the wounds can GET:

When I found the BITE, I immediately grabbed a sharp knife, and cut between the two holes, and then aggressively squeezed out the blood for SEVERAL minutes. I must have gotten almost all of the poison out, because it never did get a lot worse. It took about 2 weeks to heel. When I found it, it looked like the following Picture, but Honest, I never did feel the BITE.

I did not have any after effects, other than a craving for bugs or crickets occasionally:

No, it is a true story. If I do not laugh about, I will have nightmares, about living in Brown Recluse territory.

One day I was going to the bathroom in the BASEMENT, and found one on the floor in the doorway to my Bathroom that was unusually large about 1 inch from side to side. He make a pretty large SPLAT on the Flour. So I spray the Foundation at least twice a year.
Yeah....I am very diligent....I spray the whole outside of my house and inside twice a year in spring and fall and I alternate between three different brands of bug killer that lasts for a year and twice a year I set of bombs in my house regardless of not seeing anything....I burn wood as well so just in case I only carry in what I will burn for a night and during the day bring it in as I need it and straight into the wood stove....I rarely see any bugs and usually, like 99.5% of the time they are dying due tome spraying twice a year...

I was not going to post those pictures, because of the gory Pictures. Something told me that someone may benefit from my publishing those pictures, because they will take a Brown Recluse bite very seriously. Brown Recluses are in most States, maybe Canada too. People almost NEVER see them, unless they are looking for them. They hid UNDER things, like a lose board or a stepping stone. And are a nocturnal hunter. What else gives them away, is they are one of the FASTEST RUNNING Spiders. So if you see a spider that DARTS for the nearest cover, chances are it is a RECLUSE, because they are super fast. It was about 4 hours after I got bit, that I discovered the Rotting holes in my forearm. Most People just put antibiotic on the wound, which absolutely does no good at all.

If the poison remains in the wound, it will continue to rot the Flesh, and can become a huge disgusting wound like I pictured. If You can get it early, like 4 hour or less, you can treated like I did, or go straight to the Emergency Room. My Sister chewed me out for not going to the Emergency Room. What you absolutely have to do, if you are going to treat it yourself, is make a deep cut between the holes, and keep squeezing for SEVERAL MINUTES OR MORE. I squeezed it for at least 20 minutes aggressively.

It looked like a small Rattle Snake bite, so I just decided the treat it like they used to tell us to treat a snake bite, and it worked.

REMEMBER Brown Recluses have the FIDDLE SHAPE on their Back. So spray any time you see one crawling on your foundation, at least twice a year. I even Sprayed the LAWN this year to help keep them DEAD and GONE.

Killing a certain species of rattle snakes here can cost a person a hefty fine ($250, 000) apparently and possible prison time, killing a racoon is illegal too I have heard....but I am sure am tempted some times with those guys!!!

We used to hunt Raccoon down here, for my Grandma. She would cook them like Pulled Pork, then slow cook them in a crockpot in a Sloppy Joe mix, and during season, she would serve them as a Free Barbecue, in her Bar. VERY YUMMY.

Weird, but I cannot eat an animal I do not like........ if that makes any sense:unsure:

Racoon for dinner.... I think not... I rather eat a rabbit. But I do believe you that it probably tasted good.

I could never eat snake either, I hate them.

You are not being serious?

I just went over seas and I came back alive, not in a body bag so it can't be all that bad!!

Now my son has been to Iceland and he really liked it a lot.... no bugs and the land looked beautiful!

I like northern Michigan a lot but it does have lots of wildlife.... not sure about those pesky spiders though?

Ugh! After looking at those spider pictures and those brown recluse wounds and then seeing this sandwich a little later - I am just not too sure about that meat . . . ???!!!!

Sure wasn't expecting this on this thread! LOL!
