God's Love Is In Us And Is Made Complete In Us,

Throughout John's Gospel and his letters, He never stops
relying on the virtues of love. Of all the apostles, he is the
one who stresses love the most. While the other Gospels
are synoptic, John goes in a completely different direction.
It seems like John really took the time to meditate on the life
and love of Jesus. While the other 3 Gospels told the story
of the life of Jesus on earth, John went further and wrote on
the relevancy of life of Jesus. In fact if not for love, John
would not have written much. Many of Paul's letters had
much of John in them too since both wanted us to make His
love of our priority in life. All four Gospels are important of
course but I believe John's Gospel and letters really open
our hearts to love.

When your words are His word
And your ways, His way
When your hands are the hands He can use
When your heart's desire is just to be
A heart He reaches through
That's when Jesus looks a lot like you

(I think that was 4Him, but it might have been Avalon...)

I believe that's why John is called the Beloved disciple and we may be certain from some conversation of the apostles (John 21:20-24) that he was Jesus' favorite in ways... He really understood and appreciated God's love... which maybe enabled him to receive more of that love, and be called the Beloved...
