btw .... Yes Ayn Rand, there taking my time typing .....you ever read any of her books, studied her in University probably not...... why did I ever respond to you, well I will be sure not to let it happen again.
No, not me but I wouldn't read or study a book by Larry Flint, Mao Tze Tung or Adolph Hitler either. When I saw Tea Party and Libertarian nuts, walking around waving her books on the news feed. I looked her up. She believed in selfishness, self centeredness without any responsibility for others. Sort of ane existential nihilist Being Anti-Communist is not enough. Without love for our fellow human beings we are as dead as a door post inside.

Among other things, Ayn Rand was a hypocrite. Later in life she received Social Security benefits, totally going against her 'immoral distribution of wealth' claptrap.

The problem is not Christians running or not running for office.
Yes, yes it is. If we had more Christians running for office we'd have a bigger pool to vote from with values and morals closer to what we believe. Of course more Christians ought to be running for office.

The problem is, and has been for the last 4 decades, people who claim to be Christians voting for political candidates that they obviously should not vote for.
So you I take it you do not vote... They vote because Christians are not running for office, so you have to make a choice. You just made my point for me!!

When Roe v. Wade passed in '73 due to a REPUBLICAN majority vote,
We know things now that were not known back then. Abortions were supposed to be "safe and rare". Today they are being used as contraception. The following video is about Roe and the justices who voted, very interesting.

Citing the last 4 presidential elections, no person, who claims to be a Christian, should have voted for McCain, Obama, Romney, Hillary, or Trump.
I noticed you didn't mention either of the Bushes or Bill Clinton, is there a reason you excluded them?

Every single one of those candidates support things that God vehemently abhors, and no one who actually knows Jesus as their Savior should have voted for any of them. The problem does not lie with the people who run. The problem lies squarely with the people who vote.[/QUOTE]

From the founding fathers on you can find a reason not to vote for a candidate. And if you don't vote you don't have a right to complain about what happens in the country. I'm not about to sit at home and let socialist/communists take over the country because Trump isn't perfect. I don't know where the man stands with God. He is surrounded by Christians, his VP is born again. I have no doubt he is talking to the President about the things of God. I hope he fully surrenders his life. But I believe God has allowed Trump into office for a reason. His stance on abortion, Israel, socialism and the constitution among other issues is reason enough to vote. We aren't in heaven yet. Christians sat out the vote and we got 8yrs of Muslim sympathizer Obama. Nearly destroyed the middle class, put half the country on food stamps.

If you sit and listen to the debates right now and the crazy things the Dems are advocating for if they get in, you'd get yourself in line and vote to make sure they don't get power. If you sit out, don't complain when the country turns into Cuba. I'll be the first one standing here reminding you what you said.

If the bolded statement is correct than perhaps you should start showing it. Because you don't seem to understand even the basics of Biblical morality.

Funny when you talk about the "American populace" when you don't live here. Canada is not a Liberal annex of America.

You can try to downgrade evil all you want, but that dog won't hunt in real life. If you vote for a candidate that supports abortion, you are voting directly for evil. You are supporting abortion with your vote. And I use the word "you" in a collective context, not you personally. The same goes for voting for any candidate that advocates things that God calls a sin. If you don't believe that, then you need a refresher course in Basic Christianity.
Ayn Rand. The spelling is simple.

If you are waiting for a doctor for 10 years, here is a clue for you: Your system already doesn't work.

You're welcome.

Easy enough to make a spelling mistake. Last time I checked this was a discussion forum, not an English class. You talk about Biblical morality and then make snide remarks to other posters. Perhaps you need to remove that log from your eye so you can see better.

Politics is certainly not everybody's cup of tea. Our most recent former prime minister was Christian, I believe, and so was Preston Manning. He headed the Reform party during the years when the conservatives just about totally sank.
Teachability is an aspect of humility, so~ good on you :)

I had moved by the time Harper got into office. I do know he was a big supporter of Israel. I do remember Manning as conservative, but I don't recall if he was a Christian. Of course there are plenty of people that are conservative that aren't Christian.

ps. I think I have the tech down ;)

Problem with Trump, and many other Politicians:

Proverbs 11:2 - [When] pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly [is] wisdom.

Proverbs 16:5 - Every one [that is] proud in heart [is] an abomination to the LORD: [though] hand [join] in hand, he shall not be unpunished.

Proverbs 29:23 - A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.

Proverbs 16:18 - Pride [goeth] before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

Galatians 6:3 - For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.

James 4:6 - But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

Proverbs 27:2 - Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.

Proverbs 26:12 - Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit? [there is] more hope of a fool than of him.

Philippians 2:3 - [Let] nothing [be done] through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

Proverbs 8:13 - The fear of the LORD [is] to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

Jeremiah 9:23 - Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise [man] glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty [man] glory in his might, let not the rich [man] glory in his riches:

1 John 2:16 - For all that [is] in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

Romans 12:16 - [Be] of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.

Reductionist thinking in Christianity is leading to its demise, there are very few left that can truly challenge secular thought from a Christian perspective and you know how they do it? ...... by having deep knowledge of existentialism, humanism, naturalism, objectivism, socialism etc., etc.,
John wrote an excellent treatise against Gnosticism.. ...do you think he did not know what they believed?

It is the "redistribution of wealth" and it is immoral.

The real problem is that all politicians are flawed men just like us. All the Christian can do is pray for our politicians just like we pray for others. It would be great if our president were an overt Christian but I leave these things in Gods hands. God knows better than I who should be president. Good or evil our politicians are from God.

For the cause of Christ

I know what Gnosticism is. I looked up what Reductionism is, in 3 places, yet I still don't understand it. I choose not to poison my mind by over exposing it to what seems evil to me. The most reliable text I believe regarding the nature of man is the Bible. That's my standard of measure. By following it we will never become equals to God and Jesus was not a man who became God like Jesus is God and he became flesh and died for our sakes. I'd rather live in a Christian Kibbutz in the Rocky Mountains without a TV (except the weather channel ) than in a posh penthouse overlooking Central Park. In fact I don't have a TV now.

You have issues with people that have money it seems.
Sometimes while the exterior/the physical may look more "Godly" like a Kibbutz I can guarantee it has no bearing on whether it is or not.

Preston Manning is a practicing Christian with a life-long interest in relating his faith to politics, business, and science. He has written books about life in public office as an evangelical Christian :) They are recommended reading for any Christian considering such a calling. He has received honorary doctorates from six Canadian universities :O Harper is the only Canadian politician/sitting prime minister I know of who treated the threat of the spread of Islam seriously.

I don't have issues with people who have money. I have issues with people that love money more than their fellow men. Having it is not a sin loving it is. And my comparison was a twist on the Green Acres TV show theme. I would favor Oliver Wendel Douglas's (Eddie Albert) attitude over Lisa's (Eva Gabor).

Yes, I respected Harper for several views. But I don't know how he did running the country as I was stateside by that time. I do recall now that Manning was Christian, now that you say it. Was he Baptist? Humm… Memory doesn't serve, I'm getting old. :(

I do not know of his denominational affiliation, and he was current before I became a Christian, but I do know that even as a non-Christian at the time, I was aware of the fact that he was a Christian... he kind of stood out above the rest that way, as far as I recall... now I am well aware of the fact that many politicians put on an act to pretend belief in some universal Higher Power and they may even publicly claim Jesus as their Lord and Savior but honestly? How anyone fell for or still defends Obama's deliberate deception still blows my mind.
