Since you say that you are a hospice chaplin your words bother me a bit. Makes me wonder how you treat those you are supposed to be caring for.
I treat my patients spectacularly; they are loved and respected; always treated with kindness, tenderness and genuine care.

I physically lower myself, sitting eye to eye with them rather than standing over them in a domineering manner. I lower myself spiritually, letting them know I am their servant, not one to be revered. And before any of that I always thank them for allowing me the privilege of entering their home.

My patients are empowered by the spiritual gifts afforded me as comforter and defender of God’s grace, all of it always and forever to the glory of God. Their fears and concerns are received and addressed through listening and acknowledgement, Scripture, prayer and the reassurance of God’s presence. They are also reassured that their families will be looked after long after they (the patient) has passed on.

Make no mistake, I am as tender with my patients and their families as I am belligerent with modern day Pharisees who shut out the Kingdom of Heaven against others. I am both a comforter and defender.

If you’re still concerned for my patients then by all means lift them up in prayer. You don’t need to know their names, God knows who you’ll be lifting up.

A portion of the chapter is about the age to come. This is not fulfilled.

34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the Lord: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
That is the culmination of the New Covenant in which we now live, when the Messiah comes again.

I expect you think the miracle worker of Nazareth about whom the Father said, "This is my beloved Son" was a fake.

I haven`t a clue why you would say something like that to me.

Sounds about right. Also, didn't he say "It is finished" as last words? He didn't say "it is nearly finished".

" Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? saith the Lord: shall I cause to bring forth, and shut the womb? saith thy God" Isaiah 66-9.

By the way. I don't think just because don't always see eye to eye on hear means its caused "hysterics". Bit dramatic.
Excuse the typos errors folks...my phone keys have died and they need to be brought back to life on my now so called "Lazarus" phone.

I think it`s more like you throw a tantrum when you get spanked with the scriptures. You get nasty when you don`t have a good answer for your watered down theology.

Marcelo said: I'm not a law-keeper, but I still haven't found a single piece of evidence -- in the Gospels -- that Jesus ever told us to stop keeping the Law. Should we rely solely on what Paul said?
You can read Galatians 2:16 for evidence.
Let's read it:

Galatians 2:16 (NIV)
know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified.

Now let's take a look at Galatians 5:

1 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

2 Mark my words! I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all.

3 Again I declare to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole law.

4 You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace.

5 For through the Spirit we eagerly await by faith the righteousness for which we hope.

6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.

7 You were running a good race. Who cut in on you to keep you from obeying the truth?

8 That kind of persuasion does not come from the one who calls you.

9 “A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough.”

10 I am confident in the Lord that you will take no other view. The one who is throwing you into confusion, whoever that may be, will have to pay the penalty.

11 Brothers and sisters, if I am still preaching circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been abolished.

12 As for those agitators, I wish they would go the whole way and emasculate themselves!

13 You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.

14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.

During His earthly ministry, the Lord Jesus didn't explicitly say that His followers were (or would be) free from the Law of Moses, but Paul did. Should we then disregard Paul (because he was a mere man) and stick with Jesus (because He is the son of God). By no means! Contrary to what most Christians believe, the words of the earthly Jesus don't take precedence over the words of Paul.

The teachings of the earthly Jesus were aimed at the Jews during the Old Covenant and the teachings of Paul were aimed at Christians during the New Covenant. We must take note that Paul's words are actually Jesus' words.

Galatians 1:11

11 I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that the gospel I preached is not of human origin. 12 I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ.

The only thing watered down in your little world is God’s grace because of your pious, works salvation theology.

I rest very comfortably in the saving grace of Jesus Christ which is afforded everyone who puts their complete faith in Him, and Him alone. Ahhh, the sweet taste of divine liberty and freedom. 😎🙏

You said this below in post 7063. "The New Covenant cannot be implemented until He returns because Jeremiah chapter 31 must be fulfilled." (RS)

So if we are not living in the New Covenant, then according to you, in which of God's Covenants are we living?

amen, and here --

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us — for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree” — so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith.
To give a human example, brothers: even with a man-made covenant, no one annuls it or adds to it once it has been ratified. Now the promises were made to Abraham and to his offspring. It does not say, “And to offsprings,” referring to many, but referring to one, “And to your offspring,” who is Christ. This is what I mean: the law, which came 430 years afterward, does not annul a covenant previously ratified by God, so as to make the promise void. For if the inheritance comes by the law, it no longer comes by promise; but God gave it to Abraham by a promise.
(Galatians 3:13-18)
it's not the olive tree 'of the law' into which we have been grafted -- but the olive tree of Abraham, planted 430 years before the law was added ((v.19)), which law cannot annul the promise which came before, and was ratified before. this ratification is the mystery of the burning lamp and the smoking firepot, in Genesis 15, which is Christ.
Roger.

The olive tree being made up of the children of God which we have been grafted in By faith in Christ.

Yes the civil calendar and the seasonal calendar are out of sync to the tune of between 45-60 days. Interesting time.
what are your thoughts on why the Bible marks time in 30 day months, tied to lunar period, and 360 day years, tied to the sun, but the observed periods of the heavenly bodies don't match this?

Well, normally my approach is to find common ground. I don`t usually just throw out theology somebody can`t handel like I have around here. I just made an exception because cabin fever put me in the mood to challenge somebody :devilish:

Is the weather hot where you are? At least you can see some bright side!

The answer may be found in the events during the days of Hezekiah. II Kings 20:8-11

Once again, you have twisted my words making this post not worth bothering with.
Are you pretending you don't know what you said?

The New Covenant cannot be implemented until He returns because Jeremiah chapter 31 must be fulfilled.
You said it outright. There is no twisting that.

I just showed you, using the SAME scripture that you did, that you interpreted incorrectly.

I should probably be used to this by now.

I asked which of God's Covenants we are living in now. I trust you will answer it.
25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.

26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:

27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.

The New Covenant is a contract that has closed. It is in the hands of Jesus waiting to be executed when He returns for His inheritence.
If you haven`t read my other posts you won`t understand what I mean by that. I`m going to go do something else for awhile.

1 Corinthians 13:2
If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have absolute faith so as to move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing

Just hope to remind you that none of these folks here injured your knee

The New Covenant is not closed we are living in it now. It ends with the Second Coming of Christ.
