But does not the conviction of the Holy Spirit turn us from such ways...
A child of God will not remain in this state , for the Holy Spirit brings us out of such things , not all at once in some cases , but with guidance...xox...
Wow, never mind my answer, yours is better

This is true, but the key word is repent

Have i not already repented when i came to christ

Am i going to be punished because i have a habit i can not see to overcome?

And remember, if i have this habit? Am i going to go to people like Mac or other people who push obedience to try to find healing?

When did I push obedience for healing. A person needs to know they NEED healing before you can tell them how to find healing. So I was merely trying to open peoples eyes that Christians should not continue in those things.

to teach otherwise is subbiblical

Rosemary already stated my position better than I ever could. Accept that what I said was true because it is biblical

Ok, I’ll Answer. One act or two acts or whatever number do not damn a Christian. If I sin right now and drop dead before I repent, I go to heaven. Because I have a regenerate heart.

But a regenerate heart does not take the attitude that I’m saved now, so I can sin as I please and still be saved. Something that has actually been said here. . A regenerate heart WANTS to obey

True gospel or false, @Rosemaryx. What do you say. I value your opinion
I was a drunkard , but by the grace of God I have been saved,,,
I am sitting here with a few glasses of bear , more then I should be drinking , but I am not a drunkard no more...

God has set His limits on me , I now obey , I must admit I am more bold to post...

If I died tonight , I know for sure I am going home to my LORD , why ? because my Father in heaven , Almighty God , knew I would fall back on the drink , yet I have not gone over my limit , that is the GRACE of God...xox...

He may

But he also comes across as legalistic, which i am at war against, because i have seen the damage it does to other people, and even in my own life (it caused me to walk away fromGod for 5 Years,

Does he use the strawman view that people use grace as an excuse for or live in sin?

I seem to remember hearing that more than once

I totally agree with what you are saying.
I have said many a time and you know my testimony.
I have banged on and on about it.
Telling someone that God says now go do does not work.
The issue is for me is that the cause of the effect needs dealing with.
Get to the root, deal with it then the effect will be dealt with.

Maybe ask @Macabeus yourself.

I will myself.

@Macabeus

I had a severe gambling problem for many years as a believer.
It almost drove me to suicide.
I even asked God to kill me.

I have not gambled now for at least 7 years.

I sought help in the church.

If I came to you what would your counsel be?

I have not seen that from his post...

To be honest , I only put @Macabeus on ignore because others did , but I felt I should not do this unless he claims other than the true Gospel...xox...

Christians repent after salvation 2 Cor. 7:9not to be saved, or maintain salvation but maintain fellowship.

I can do all things through Christ. Yes you may struggle a long tine and overcome. Like I quoted earlier, the problem is not a believer who struggles with sin it is with a “believe” who sins without struggle

I never offered advise for healing of addiction. i was arguing against the premise of fornicators are in the kingdom but don’t inherit. I linked to the post where this was said, but you didn’t read it because you had me on ignore

I’m with Rosemary in this. Believers struggle with sin. I struggle with sin everyday. But we are to progressively put to death the deeds of the flesh by the Spirit, not remain in them

Here you go rosemary. The strawman that continues to break the back

Dc, myself and others think it is ok to continue in sin, the accusation that keeps being spewed by someone who claims he does not teach works.

If you still have him on ignore you will not be able to see this,

I will not be able to see it after I post this post, i went to look for it since you said you never heard it, and amazingly it only took a minute

I would pray with you asking God for deliverance. I would say the fact that you are grieving over it is because your heart wants to do what’s right, and say no matter what, don’t give up. When you sin, take it to God, and keep believing and seeking God and his strength, stay in fellowship with brethren and seek out those who have had a similar struggle. and in time you WILL be delivered from this addiction

I would not question your salvation, because of the fact that you have godly sorrow about it

Brother @BillG ...I was once someone who drank to get drunk , I would drink maybe three times a week...

Can I ask you something , if you put money in a slot machine ad gambled , would that still make you a gambler ?

I ask this in all honestesly , I was a drinker to get drunk , before I was saved , tonight I have fallen back to few bears , am I still a drunkard?

I am searching tonight , I do not want to be drunk , even after 5 bottles of bear , I am sober , I no longer have the urge to go out and buy more , am I still a drunkard?...

Tonight is my first night I have drank in 5 months...Praise God Almighty for His Son who saved a wretched sinner like me...xox...

Have no fear, doctor Horseman is here.

Heres what you gotta do, KICK YOURSELF. You feel like going back to your old habits? Kick again!

Eventually you dont wanna go.

Most folks I see who get saved from the bottom of the barrel RARELY backslide, they know the misery it is, so they are like "OOH NAAH I aint going back!"

I am not a professional councilor (sic), but here is my view on addiction/sin struggle among Christians. From a guy who struggles himself.
