Yes and "Controversial" aka..... @dcontroversal was right ... this verse is not stating what we must add to saving faith... this is "faith" after we are saved... moving forward in the Christian walk

Stillness it is really important to get the Gospel right
Amen......people that embellish what Jesus did and requires have no faith in Jesus and what he did .....

That does not mean he is done learning. Different thing altogether
Amen bro......another one that has no trust in Jesus.....He must help Jesus because Jesus is weak, inept and cannot save someone to the uttermost....or even keep them saved......

Im starting to realize why James White wrote an entire book about KJVOnlyism
If I had a dime for everyone it has led down a false path of interpretation based upon embracing it's transliterated verbiage and erroneous translated words........I would have an extra grand in my pocket......

With all these different names hell, Hades, sheol, Gehenna, abyss, lake of fire... I am not sure how to sort it all out...o_O:unsure:
Common sense and not buying into the above drivel that Jesus went to hell......I am confident he would not call hell Paradise......

The confusion is that the KJV unfortunately calls most of these things hell, and then people think they all mean the same thing, which is Incorrect

Hades and Gehenna are not the same thing, for example, but King James Version translates both Greek nouns as hell, which is unfortunate

I don’t see how you can say that. I showed you Jesus speaking through David with Jesus being in place of suffering crying out to God.

The book of Jonah is all about Christ being in the belly of hell.

Jon 2:1 Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly,

Jon 2:2 And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.

Jon 2:3 For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me.

Jon 2:4 Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.

Jon 2:5 The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head.

Jon 2:6 I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God.

Jon 2:7 When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple.

Do you see what I’m saying?

Jesus going to hell. The resurrection is in verse 8.

2Sa 22:4 I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

2Sa 22:5 When the waves of death compassed me, the floods of ungodly men made me afraid;

2Sa 22:6 The sorrows of hell compassed me about; the snares of death prevented me;

2Sa 22:7 In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried to my God: and he did hear my voice out of his temple, and my cry did enter into his ears.

2Sa 22:8 Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations of heaven moved and shook, because he was wroth.

If you say Jesus descended into Hades, I will agree with you. Just replace hell with Hades, because in common english usage, Hell is almost exclusively used in reference to Gehenna, and so using the word hell causes unnecessary confusion

I think you know that Jesus did not go to the Lake of Fire/Gehenna, right?

Jesus did not go to Gehenna. He did go to Hades. Unfortunately, the KJV translates both of these as hell, creating confusion for some.

That should suffice for an answer to the question

I think it will all depend on the context. Hell is an English translation of Sheol, Hades, Tartarus (Greek ταρταρώσας; lemma: ταρταρόω tartaroō), and Gehenna is still correct. Hades is perhaps a transliteration, however, Hades is a legitimate English word for a Greek myth, the oldest name of the god of the dead, also called Pluto. So in consideration of translating those Heb and Greek, it is safe to say that the KJV "hell" has the superiority over newer versions. it just takes a study over its context.

God bless

God bless you as well!😀

I said using hell for both Hades and Gehenna is confusing because in my understanding, they are two different things.

For example, to say Jesus went to hades is more accurate than Jesus went to hell at least in context of how we understand the word hell, which usually means Gehenna in modern english usage

Would you agree that Hades and Gehenna are not the same place or thing

In case anyone questions Jesus descending into Hades,( not sure if anyone does), Acts 2:31 states that Jesus was not LEFT in HADES.

The KJV calls it hell because all those other Greek names are hell.

There are only two places in the Bible related to where the unsaved dead go. They are hell

No Jesus didn’t go to the lake of fire. He went hell/hades, a place that contains two section, a storage place for those before Christ before he came and two, a place of eternal torment.

Christ describes the place of torment in Jonah and in 2 Samuel so either he went to the section of eternal torment or he could see it and feel it. I believe he went to both sections.

Hades/Hell/Sheol/lake of fire are not physical places that people go to, they are but a state of mind.

In the beginning, God created the heavens and earth; the phrase heavens and earth represent everything created or all existence. If such places as hell and hades exists, they should be part of this created universe but where? either way, the heavens and earth will pass away and all that's in them (fact).

Jer 23:24“Can a man hide in secret places where I cannot see him?” declares the LORD. “Do I not fill the heavens and earth?” declares the LORD.

Still, SHEOL (O.T.) HADES (N.T.) WAS a place of conscious punishment AND also a prison paradise of conscious comfort with a great gulf fixed between.

>Luke 16:23
Verse Concepts
"In Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far away and Lazarus in his bosom. Gehenna speaks more of fire and discomfort yet in the this passage, a discomfort and under punishment of the rich man. So how could we fix? naturally hell as english translation is more accurate since Hades is a named god.

We are not saved by our works we are saved by grace through faith, however, our reward or punishment is based on what we do. Rev 22:12 Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what they have done.

Isn’t had

Isn’t Hades also considered to be the grave?
I haven’t seen a clear case of Hades speaking of the grave, doesn’t mean it’s not there, I just can’t think of any right now.

I would have to go back and look at the places where Hades is used.

Acts 2:31, Jesus’ soul was not left in Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption

Soul in hades, body in grave. For three days

His soul was in Hades and His flesh, body was in the grave for three days

His body did not go to Hades, but He did.
