I am new and I have checked some of the forums you have. Might I suggest a chat for us seniors( some place where we can have other seniors to chat with? )Also, maybe a disaibility chat room about growing old,shareing their families, just be in touch with God our maker.:) I am as senior,100% disabled, and a shut-in. Thank you for listening to this ol'lady.God Bless each and everyone of my new bruthers and sisters.I..really need you in my life. :D
 
The "OLDIEMARE",really hurt..I see no one above 40's and just asked if we could maybe have a senior/disabled forum.Yes,my light is shining for heaven and, I KNOW IT WILL BE SOON.ok I just wanted to chat with ppl my age,is all. Mary, I think she might have mis-read your user name. I think instead of a *K* she thought it was an *L*. (or it could have been a typo since they are right next to each other on the keyboard?)

I am glad you are here. :) I hope you enjoy it here and jump in with some discussions. :) There are numerous others that come here that are, lets say 50 and above. They are active in posting on the forums etc.
There are also chat rooms as well if you are interested in that.
Feel free to ask any question if you have them, and I am sure people can help you navigate your way around.

We have had a disablities/special needs room in the past- added by much demand by some users here, and IT NEVER got used. Also, some chatters found it offensive and upsetting- as they saw it as us 'segregating' the disabled people from everyone else, so we changed the room.

As for a Seniors room, I don't think there is a need for a specific room- but you are welcome to start your own group. You can add only people in your age bracket and use it as a method of keeping in touch with them.

We have lots of unused rooms already, many of which were added because chatters felt we simply MUST have them- then they never used them- also having a room for every little thing- can created moderation problems, and maintenance issues.

Maybe you could start a thread in forums with a poll to gain interest from other people your age who might like to chat specificly to those the same age, and then start a group, or something?

Also, there are MANY MANY users above the age of 40 on this site we have regular chatters in their 60's and above.- lots of them chat frequently in the rooms, quite happily with people of all ages.

I agree with you and am sure that there are many seniors that would like to share some quality time together, chatting and debating things of relevance to you. There is so much for the younger sector, who are generally already buddy orientated.

Seniors may not be as bold and generally shier and probably not as confident when it comes to electronic communication. I have spent aaaages today scrolling and searching for people of my own agegroup. So may God open doors to facilitate and respect the needs of the Hoary Heads as well.

In the meantime can we join hands and start to share any gems we come up with?
 
This is my third attempt to post something here - unsuccessfully. Can something be done to make this facility easier to use? ESPECIALLY for the Seniors who have not had School training on using the computer and Internet.

I have used the computer for years now, and sad to say I find this site a bit confusing and how on earth do we use the chat facility?

This site is actually pretty simple, just need to know your way around.

To post a thread (like you have here), just open the thread you wish to post to, and scroll to the last post. You will see the 'reply' box and that's where you type your post. Then, when you're done, just submit. However, you have already figured that out I guess since your post is showing here.

If you wish to start a NEW thread, rather than reply to an existing one, the process is much the same. Go to the forum you wish to post in (ie: singles, bible discussion, suggestions etc) and click on the icon at the top which says 'NEW THREAD' and type away.

To use chat is simple:

At the VERY TOP of the forum page (above all these forums- right under where it says CHRISTIAN CHAT on the home page), there are a bunch of options. Go to those options and select whether you wish to use a webcam or not, if youwant volume or not etc (it's all multiple choice) then click the big CHAT NOW button, and you're on your way.

OkieMary1946 I don't concider myself old or a senior although I am 47, but I DO agree that there should be something here for the more mature people, not that I don't love the younger crowd( bless them), I do, but wish to chat with people who I have more in common with, so I know how you feel.. I kind of feel left out and bored to be honest.... Perhaps one day they will include us as well..

Hy, I'm not exactly a senior, but I kind of agree with you that seniors should have their own forum since teens have their own. But, I don't think it's so great when we start separating the older people from the younger people alot. We need your advice. If you guys are always in the senior's section, we won't have anyone who has more understanding and experience to give us advice. Anyways, just wanted to say hy and don't feel like you're alone on here (:
 
I would enjoy an older and disabled room.
Some times it would be nice to share in like minded or seasoned understanding.
There are rooms for young, and single. :)
It seems that such a room would be more welcomed now as the site itself has matured since. :)

I agree that conversations with like-minded people are nice, but those of us who are "seniors" should not dismiss the opportunity to share our experience and (hopefully) wisdom with people of all ages. I would lean toward gathering more in the "Christian Family" room(s) and forum(s) where we can interact with everyone. With respect to a place for "shut ins", I would remind everyone that we are all the same in God's sight. All people should be welcome in any room, except those set aside specifically for teens (a breed unto themselves ;) ) and singles (a distinction I'm not sure I agree with).

I would be reluctant to further fragment our group with more and more "designations". Specific conversations can always be conducted with e-mail and "pinging".

I have just sent OkieMary1946 a friend request and suggest that we all do the same. I believe that she, and everyone else, should be made to feel welcome in our community.

So then, how do we get a room for the more mature christians started? or at least put on the list of rooms?

I am so glad you made the suggestion! I just went to google to see if there were any Senior Chat Rooms and I somehow got back here to CC where I am already a member. I love it here!

I know there may not have been much activity in the Senior room in the past but there is probably less of us using computers. I am new, I love interacting with younger people, too, but it would be such a wonderful blessing to be able to share things unique to Seniors, just as teens, singles, and families have their own unique issues.

Some of us are just not up on computers, I just got this computer and I am trying to figure out everything by myself, let alone chat rooms..(terms like mod and syntax? ok I am showing my stupidity)...I am so new I don't even know what a thread means, lol ! But I am trying!

I say Amen to the feelings of the other Seniors!

How wonderful it is that we have this wonderful special place where we can come to and to gather online with other Christians! Thank you CC for being there! What a wonderful and special blessing you are! God Bless You!

I am a disabled senior, and I know I am not the only one.
What this chat really needs is a room/place for mature disabled Christian Believers to chat, share and support one another.
I'm willing to start one but don't know how. Anyone care to help me?

All you can do is create your own thread in an existing section of the forums. There is no way for users to create their own forum sections or chat rooms. That would be RoboOps decision.
