Should the government take away my right to bear arms so only the "bad guys" have guns?

I've said this before and I'll say it again, I'd much rather be shot by a gun than butchered with a machete.

I'll list just a few events that wonderfully grace the history of gun control (so far):
- the Armenian holocaust
- the rise of Stalin
- the rise of Nazi Germany
- the Mao Zedong experience
- Cambodian killing fields...
Very bad things tend to arise when goverments take weapons from their people.
Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
Amen.....I know many people that are well armed....NONE will give them up without a fight and none will sell them back.......You know, I fully believe that if we keep going the way we are going that a civil war will errupt in the U.S. at some point....leader against leader and violence in the land right before the HINDERMOST of the NATIONS, the LADY OF THE KINGDOMS falls.......!!

Regardless who wins, the other side will cry foul and may very well take the matter into their own hands.

Huh sorry I'm New here just noticed a post and figured it was open to reply. I've seen nothing but attacks on ones own emotions concerning a touchy subject matter.

All posts ARE open to reply.

However, the problem is that you replied as if I was arguing with something you said, and I wasn't.
You said to me "I didnt' say it like that".
But in my own post I wasn't referring to ANYTHING you said.
I wasn't addressing you at all.
I couldn't be accusing you, or disparaging you, because I was neither talking TO you or ABOUT you.
My post had nothing to do with you.

I think you would have easily understood this if you weren't already upset by the whole debate.

To be fair, we all do this kind of thing at times... and we all need to do better.

This is the kind of misunderstanding that happens in debate, when we let our emotions take off without us.

In a debate forum, we all need to slow down, take a deep breath, and relax.

The more strident and touchy the debate, the more carefully we need to read, and address, the other side.

If we ARE going to debate, we need to START by listening to the other side, so we know what we're actually arguing about.

And we can ALL do better.

Welcome to CC.
I'm glad you're here.
I sincerely hope you enjoy your time here, and make a lot of new friends.
But if you want to join in the debates here, it's a good idea to read the posts CAREFULLY...
or someone a lot less polite than me is going to twist you up like a salted pretzel.
:)

I disagree, the left will have completely melted down from their own scorched earth policies and be forever forgotten in a puff of smoke. We will be more united after 2020. I'm an optimist.

I wish this was a real possibility, but I don't think it is.

Marxism seems to be some kind of terrible hydra;
whenever we chop off one head, another head appears.

Marxism is popular because it appeals to the most base instincts of man.
And since man's nature cannot change... things that appeal to man's baser nature may be with us for a long time.

Take them away, there purpose is for one thing to kill. "Bad people" hmmmm well that is very unclear, the man who comes home from church to find his wife in bed with another man, out of anger pulls his gun out of anger later to regret his actions. The child who got bullied an had enough so goes to his parents gun stach an opens fire, or the thug struggling to make ends meet opens fire on someone trying to break into his home. My thoughts are there's reasons one needs a gun, they are scared of something, or they wish to kill something. If they take away the guns and use resources to really crack down on guns then maybe when our kids kids grand kids will see a difference.
The Bible says the heart is deceitfully wicked who can know it.... We do NOT need gun control in America but Jesus and a lot more of Him. The REAL CHRISTIANITY NOT THIS FAKE STUFF IN AMERICA TODAY! What kind of wicked man comes home from church find his wife in bed with a man and kills him. First the whole family would have been in church, because the man is the head of the family, the way Messiah is the head of the church. And if you think that is a fantasy... so is "gun control" , because if a man is wicked enough to shoot the guy he is wicked enough to beat him to death (and her) or stab them 20x's.

Rich or struggling to make ends meet, and "you" break into my house YES I will shoot you!

Can you change a man's heart with regulations/ laws? Murder with guns is a heart/Jesus chance not a regulations change....

So why do I want to keep my guns? Because I know a man's heart without Jesus..... And only in America do we have the right to bear arms because our forefathers knew what what we don't know in this day in age, to live under a supreme ruler/ government of evil... The first thing they do is make sure "the people"cannot fight back!!!

I have my eyes on Florida. One of my brothers lives in Palm Bay. I may be joining him in a few short years, God willing.
You better hurry, according to the Left, Florida has only about 10 years to exist. Come to think of it, maybe millions should migrate there, then in 10 years or so, then the rest of us might be able to eat hamburgers.... Just think of all the human flagence we will have gotten rid of....

Really!?! That question does not sense..... Please explain why this would not bother you....
Well, living in a country since where guns are not apart of our society, I can tell you, we don't walk around thinking about it.
We don't live in fear about being gun less, guns are not apart of our culture. When I say culture, what is culture? Most of it is ways of thought, how we do things which stems from thought.
It's hard for your culture to fathom how we can live gun free and it's hard for our culture to understand why you don't just get rid of them and dramatically lessen the massacres.
It be impossible to eliminate them, but the amount that is reported in the US is not normal, at least for us.
Sure, bad things are going to happen, you can never eliminate that in this age but there are measures that can be taken to reduce and lessen the impact. That's what has been done in Australia successfully, and as a whole, we don't live in that fear that I can see is growing in the US.
What happened in Times Square the other month when a car backfired? People trampled each other in fear? A once off situation I understand, but it's telling a tale.

I'm sorry either your government lies about crime now that guns have been taken away, your lying, or you just do not know what you are talking about.....
