Good grief! Stanford University has really done a number on you! Romans 8:9 does not back up your argument (just the opposite). We are sealed with the Holy Spirit the moment we believe the gospel. (Ephesians 1:13) You should never underestimate the Word of God.

Vines expository Greek dictionary.:
The main elements in Faith, in it's relation to the invisible God, as distinct from Faith in man, are especially brought out in the use of the this noun and corresponding verb, "pisteuo". They are 1) a firm conviction, producing a full acknowledgement of God's revelation of truth. 2). A personal surrender to Him 3) a life inspired by such surrender. Prominence is given to one or the other of these elements according to the context. You have already admitted it is a work, and salvation is received by this work, so your continually harping on the definition is not the issue.
What you cannot seem to understand is that words have various meanings and the context defines/points to the meaning.

Faith and faithing require courage and endurance, work and effort.
These are not added to Grace or the finished, completed work of Christ on the cross.
So I never said Faith is a work, I said Faith is work. Your false understanding is the only thing that separates work and effort from Faithing. The Greek does not allow that.
