You still fail to comprehend the true issue of what we are trying tomsay

so asking or saying that something is a problem, based on a false concept, is already going to be troublesome

until all of you are able to humble yourselves and listen to what we are trying to say, comments like tnis you are making are fruitless.
To y'all? They may well be "fruitless."
To the "elect of God?"
It is "light", in a very deep and dark tunnel, traditions of man, and precepts of men have built for themselves.
There are many things, y'all, that are true!
It takes "light" to put them in their "proper" perspective!

Gal 2: For if I build again those things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor. 19 For I through the law died to the law that I might live to God

notice how paul here is saying if he went back to the things he destroyed (his precious life as a law keeper) and goes back the law, he makes himself a transgressor, why?

no one can keep the law. As he explains in chapter 3, whoever does not obey every word is cursed, Paul understood this fact, that NO ONE can be made righteous by the law. For by the law comes knowledge of sin, thus going back, and saying we must add this to the grace god gives us or else, is WORSE that saying grace causes a license to sin, in fact, right here and in Romans 7, paul said if we WANT TO SERVE GOD we MUST first DIE TO THE LAW

Rom 7: For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions which were aroused by the law were at work in our members to bear fruit to death. 6 But now we have been delivered from the law, having died to what we were held by, so that we should serve in the newness of the Spirit and not in the oldness of the letter.

Again, paul tells us tomserve god in onedience takes

1. dying to the law, not going back to it
2. Serving in the newness of the spirit.

where does out power to serve come from?

Back to Gal 2:

gal 2: 20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me

1. Identity, no longer am i a sinner, cursed under the law, but i have been crucified with christ, his death is applied to me (grace)
2. work by the power of god, it is not me working at the law, it is christ working in me because he lives in me, thus he teaches me and empowers me to become christlike
3. live by faith not by site, we do not live by site of following the law, because no one can find it, we live by faith that god will lead is in the right way, he takes care of all our needs, so now we are free to LOVE GOD, and free to LOVe our neighbor, and in doing so, by practice, we will be obedient children and not brek gods commands,

The one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God gives the Spirit without limit.

He who speaks on his own does so to gain honor for himself, but he who works for the honor of the one who sent him is a man of truth; there is nothing false about him.

If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God.

But certain men whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are godless men, who change the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord.

These men are blemishes at your love feasts, eating with you without the slightest qualm—shepherds who feed only themselves. They are clouds without rain, blown along by the wind; autumn trees, without fruit and uprooted—twice dead. They are wild waves of the sea, foaming up their shame; wandering stars, for whom blackest darkness has been reserved forever. These men are grumblers and faultfinders; they follow their own evil desires; they boast about themselves and flatter others for their own advantage. These are the men who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit.

So let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient.

Again, do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.

Therefore, humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up. Brothers, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against his brother or judges him speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it. There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you—who are you to judge your neighbor?

Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life in him.

This is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love. Many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist. Watch out that you do not lose what you have worked for, but that you may be rewarded fully. Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.

Jesus said, “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.

Here's just one of His many teachings and He said;

“Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, obey the commandments.” “Which ones?” the man inquired. Jesus replied, “‘Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony, honor your father and mother,’ and ‘love your neighbor as yourself.’” “All these I have kept,” the young man said. “What do I still lack?” Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

And in another place He said this;

“Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written: “‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men.’ You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to the traditions of men.” And he said to them: “You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in order to observe your own traditions! For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘Anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to death.’ But you say that if a man says to his father or mother: ‘Whatever help you might otherwise have received from me is Corban’ (that is, a gift devoted to God), then you no longer let him do anything for his father or mother. Thus you nullify the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And you do many things like that.”

We therefore should go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything He has commanded us. And surely He is with us always, to the very end of the age.” Amen

The word/s of the Master is a law to His servants, written on their hearts.

Confess Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and walk in Love.

God is good and His Love endures forever. Amen

Galatians 2:19 For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.

Dead to the law. Oh, how this verse has bothered me. I knew in my mind and heart that "dead to the law" is/was impossible in the way it was being presented to me or the way I was "seeing and hearing" it presentation.

John 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
John 15:8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit so shall ye be my disciples.
John 15:9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you continue ye in my love.
John 15:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

Commandments are law. So how can I ever be dead to the law yet keep commandments and abide in His love? Proverbs 3:1 My son, forget not my law but let thine heart keep my commandments.
The heart can not follow what the mind does not know.

For through the law. This was the part that somehow seemed to have been lost. It is only "THROUGH THE LAW" that we can become dead to the law of Moses. That is how Paul did it. It was through the law of Moses that " justification" was to be found, Paul was an expert in the law of Moses and his path was seeking to be justified through it. He studied at the feet of Gamaliel. Paul had to have "been under the law" of Moses, to get to the realization that he was actually now dead to it. Dead to it how? Dead to it "to be JUSTIFIED". Dead to it to be OBGLIATED to it. You can't die to something you have never been alive for.

It was only after he had been walking in the commandments and justification by Jesus, through the New Covenant, he became dead to it, realizing it would be just plain wrong to go back to sacrificing animals and the ceremonies of the law for those things. What Jesus did, also made the law of Moses dead to him as in the fear of reprisals, penalties, perfections, curses, death, burdens, bindings from it.
"The law" not only pointed to Jesus, it also held up for us the "ideal" man in the eyes of God. Does anyone think Gods "ideal man" has changed? No. Jesus walked in flesh as the ideal man. Our example. We can not be free of a law we have not also been bound to on some level. Our level will never be his level. Our level is in the morals, wisdom and knowledge found in them. We must live in Christ so that we may live unto God. This can not be done without following the commands of the New Covenant. And we can not understand who Jesus is and what He did for us without the old covenant study.

As we study ALL the Word, it becomes a part of us. Whether we say we walk in love or follow the laws, we are all saying the same thing, if we have "seeked" as we have been instructed to, by the study to show ourselves approved. No one is looking to be justified by following the new covenant laws or the study of the old. And all those who remain believing in Christ will be saved.

Yes! You certainly are "hurting" your "own" cause!
What y'all don't see?
Is that y'alls cause? Is in the "calling." Waiting upon "death of the flesh", in "hopes" to be "chosen."
This is "why" when hearing words from God's Holy Priesthood?
Y'all don't believe 'em! "Yer "twisting" scripture!" When, "untwisting" is what we're trying to do.
There is so much MORE to God's Word in the Bible, that y'all are just "blowin' off, and proclaiming "exempt status."
Cuz, y'all won't let God outta the box, upon boxes, y'all keep puttin' Him in!
This is why "free will", traditions of man, and precepts of men, can be so detrimental to y'alls spiritual maturity.
Reckon why that's why Jesus said "Many are called." "Few are chosen."

paul, in speaking of his past life as a pharisee, stated this about himself

Philippians 3:6
concerning zeal, persecuting the church; concerning the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.

paul said to go back to that, he would be far worse off than he is, he had to die to that law

not die to being an onedient child of god

die to the law of sin and death

Romans 7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God but with the flesh the law of sin.

2 Timothy 3:14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them
2 Timothy 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness
2 Timothy 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

paul was walking in the ten commands, he was seen by himself and wveryone who knew him as blameless, he died to that law, he had to, or he never would have came to christ, because as he said, by the law will. O man be made righteous,

Its not about law, its about what makes us obedient

by our own strength in following the law

God looks at the heart and knows the heart.

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”1 Samuel 16:7

God, who knows the heart, showed that he accepted them by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as he did to us. Acts 15:8

All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law. For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God’s sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous. (Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law, since they show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts now accusing, now even defending them.) Romans 2:12-15

If God would see the law written on our hearts, would He reject us as some people seem to imply?

Why would God write them on our hearts if He don't want it there and we're not supposed to keep them there?
(Read Hebrews 8:10 & 10:16)

We should seek God who seeks true worshippers who worship Him in Spirit and in Truth.

Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.” John 4:23-24

Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:1-2
(Read John 6:63, 17:17)

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in sinful man, in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit. Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so...Romans 8:1-17

Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law.

The other group firmly believes that God's gifts are irrevocable but they revoke the law. (Read chapter 11 & 9:4-5 of Romans)

You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things. Now we know that God’s judgment against those who do such things is based on truth. So when you, a mere man, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God’s judgment? Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, tolerance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness leads you toward repentance? But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed. God “will give to each person according to what he has done.” To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger. There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile; but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For God does not show favoritism.
Romans 2:1-11

Yes, and that is my point for the New in Christ today. Everyone needs to study the law of Moses, not that it is the law we live by today, as the kingdom of God or law of liberty is, but without its lessons, a person can not understand Christ. Different (as in old, replaced with faith in Christ) and yet still serves the same purpose as it did in Paul and Timothys lives, to as
Paul said
Galatians 2:19 For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.

To experience and to get complete understanding just as Paul, to have the old law point to Christ and then to find Christ in the new. I personally feel this is something that is passed over to the detriment of the believer.

I hope you don't feel like all my posts are directed at you. I assure you they are not. Sometimes I post, just to post for information. I don't think that all the people who come to read start at the beginning and go through the whole thread. And even if most do, then these are for those who don't. Yes, just skip the repeats, I won't be offended.

Sorry I missed this one. I must disagree. The schoolmaster, the shadow, the details of God you can get no where else. Without them you are missing so much of the understanding of Gods Plan, you never get a solid foundation to build upon. There is so much of His personality, wisdom and knowledge. If Paul had not known the law so well he never could have been used by God, for Gods purpose. We should all try to be as well versed in all of Gods Word as possible. But for some, if the goal is to be saved, you are right, the details may not matter. But I deeply love the Word and being saved was just the very beginning. It is more than anything in this world. And what it rewards us with in this life alone, is amazing and I want to point out this side of it. I very rarely hear anyone talking about the deep studies, the treasure hunts found in the word and I think it is a shame. It is about the long time spent with God for me and rating anything in it of less value (ok except those begots, for reference and authentication of facts) is not right.

I'm not a law-keeper, but I still haven't found a single piece of evidence -- in the Gospels -- that Jesus ever told us to stop keeping the Law. Should we rely solely on what Paul said?
There are two types of believers
Those who are freed under the law (jewish believers but still can practice some ceremonial laws, like purification as paul did)
and those who have no law (gentiles)

Both are now under Christ Law...
To love God with all your heart and to love your neighbour

I'll agree with ya there are two "types" of believers.
There are "called" believers, and there are "chosen" believers.
The difference/s between the two, are what makes for some very "heated" discussions, in some of these threads.

The "main" difference? Having been "seduced" by the "wisdom of their own conceit" having been "called" themselves? But, not "chosen?" Have "turned the tables" on God's "elect", and allowed themselves to become deceived to into believing/teaching/preaching, that having been "called" only? They "fancy" themselves as chosen. Then spend the remainder of their "christian service", falling into the "trap" that Paul WARNED Timothy about.
2 Timothy 2
16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.

This "could" be interpreted as vain and profane "speaking in tongues." Which does have its points!

It "can" also mean, and this is where they have gone astray, and lead others to do the same. Is a seemingly "endless stream" of "profane for the sake of vanity seekings" in "twisting" the scriptures, in their justifying themselves in a "false claiming", that they have (somehow) deemed themselves EXEMPT from falling into the "same state of disbelief" that Israel had "succumbed" to.
And, just as bad? Boast about it! And teach others to boast like they themselves are boasting!

Consider this verse:
Hebrews 6
Therefore LEAVING THE PRINCIPLES of the doctrine of Christ, LET US GO ON TO PERFECTION (Spiritual maturity)
; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,
9 But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and THINGS THAT ACCOMPANY SALVATION, though we thus speak.
Matthew 15
13 But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.
14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

Of these things? They shun/scoff/mock.
They are no better then those who stopped following Christ, after the "free food" and "health care" ceased!

Leave the "doctrines of Christ?" "How utterly absurd!" (<how many times have I myself heard people saying this) "Let's spend our time REMAINING in the "doctrines of Christ!" "He'll never leave, nor forsake us!"
"We love our neighbors!" "We're fulfilling "the law!"

"Sacrifices?!" "We don't do no stinking sacrifices!" "Jesus "abolished the law!" "Those that do?" "Leagalists!" "Judizers!"

As Paul Harvey would say? "Page 2!"
1 Peter 2
5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

Understanding "mysteries", or "deeper things of God?

Like "water on a duck's back!"

Well i disagree that everyone has to, people knew god before the law was even given, however, i do believe it is a good study to help us understand more deeply how desperate we are, and how out of touch we are to gods holiness, and how impossible it is to “work at the law” to become even morally righteous people here on earth.
paul in that message was saying he had to become dead to the law. To stop trying to live at it, to stop trying to telate to god throuh it, to stop trying to work at it, if he was to live for god.
and this goes for everyone, if we are trying to relate to God through the law, or live for him through trying to live a standard non of us can achieve, we hinder our ability to live for God.

Sorry i can not agree with this

the schoolmaster leads us to christ.
a schoolmaster does its job until you graduate

when you come to christ in faith, and as the tax collector. Hold your hand out in desperation because you realize your hopelessness, and how poor (bankrupt) you are, and that christ is your only hope so you call out and ask to recieve his gift.

you have graduated from being an enemy of god, alienated from him because of your sin, to being adopted by God, who is now your father

once this has happened, god himself is in you, teaches you, empowers you, and through his live, nurtures you, ie, you no longer need the law, its job is complete

that why paul said he had to die to what the law if he was to serve god,

you do not die to the law and then go right back to what you died from

and serving god is not found through the law, it is found through the spirit

Sorry I missed this one.
can you answer a question or two for me sis?

do you believe there are two ways to heaven? Works and grace

and can you tell me what is required if one is to “work” or earn their way to heaven?

There are two types of believers
Those who are freed under the law (jewish believers but still can practice some ceremonial laws, like purification as paul did)
and those who have no law (gentiles)

Both are now under Christ Law...
To love God with all your heart and to love your neighbour

And how would you answer the original post question?
I'm not a law-keeper, but I still haven't found a single piece of evidence -- in the Gospels -- that Jesus ever told us to stop keeping the Law. Should we rely solely on what Paul said?
Jesus (while on Earth) never told His disciples to stop keeping the Law, but Paul did;

Jesus said it was easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter heaven, but Paul said it is OK to be rich provided you are generous and not arrogant;

Jesus told His disciples to sell their possessions and give alms, but Paul didn't;

Jesus told His disciples that they would never be saved unless their righteousness exceeded that of the scribes and the Pharisees, but Paul said salvation was by grace;

Well, there many other differences between Jesus and Paul.

Which teachings should we follow? The teachings given to the Jews while Jesus was on Earth, or the teachings the Lord gave us through Paul after the ascension?
