Connect this to the audience at the time and to whom it was written, in other words use proper hermeneutics.

What works did you do today to maintain your salvation?
I respond to the call of the Father each and every day the same, a new and hopefully better surrendered life. Anything good that comes from the life I've freely given to Him is not me doing it, but the Spirit of Christ inside me doing it. If I do something opposite of good in God's eyes, that's not me doing that either, but sin dwelling in me doing it.

So true NT saving Faith, pisteuo, a continually surrendered life to Him, gives the Spirit of Christ power to overcome what the Greek describes as trench warefar between The Spirit of Christ and the sinful nature warring inside us for our souls. We are merely onlookers, with only the choice of who we are surrendering our lives to. If we aren't surrendering ourselves to Christ, we are automatically surrendering to our sinful natures.

This all takes courage and endurance, which takes work and effort. Not added to the finished work of Christ, just fulfilling pisteuo or saving Faith.

If we don't start the salvation journey with the surrendered life, there is no warfare inside us. The sinful nature is getting the surrendered life.

I’ve often wondered whether we will cry as we witness God’s wrath upon unbelievers or if we will experience a sense of justice seeing God’s justice being carried out.
I think it will be a sad day of tears as we see friends, family, co-workers and the lost being dragged weeping, wailing, begging, cursing, pleading to the pit to be cast.........and then....God will wipe away all tears and the memory of the wicked!

Just like the priests under the penalty of death had to fill the oil to overflowing, and trim the wicks every day. Such it is with a life of Faith , a life of pisteuo. We must choose to faithe into Him every day.

This is also an exact description of being in a state of sangtification, or how we are sperated out.

For someone who preaches works salvation, the above words are a total cop out.
I don't preach works salvation, as adding to Grace as you need to make me out to be. I bear witness to the fact true NT saving Faith, pisteuo, takes work and effort, courage and endurance separate from Grace. Grace, through pisteuo!

So when you die, if there is some part of yourself you have not surrendered, or you die in a moment of non surrender.....do you forfeit salvation?

I myself will only cry.

And it is only by His Grace that even still, I would desire mercy if it were possible.

John 1:12 - But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.
Amen.

We (well you more than me ;)) just keep coming with the God's word and hopefully eyes can be opened!!

A half measure avails nothing. It's not about perfection, it's about a genuine surrendered life. We know and God knows if we are truly surrendering to Him.

Christ perfects the surrendered life a molds it into whatever He wants.

That is why pisteuo is three specific things.
1) a Continually surrendered life.
2) based upon the belief that He will accept the surrendered life.
3) sustained ( maintained) by a life inspired by such surrender. Daily decisions that support the fact that our lives are not ours anymore, but His now.

This is what pisteuo is, what true saving Faith is. The English language doesn't have a word to translate all three aspects of pisteuo. Belief is only one third of pisteuo. Taken on it's own is error.

The English language should have had the words faithe, faither, and faithing for the translators.
