All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law.
My interpretation: If you are not under the Law you will not be judged by the Law. If you are under the Law you will be judged by the Law.
I am not under the Law and therefore if I sin I will be judged by other criteria (not by the law of Moses).
For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God’s sight
This is true for all types of laws.
but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous.
This portion of the text seems to affirm that we have to keep the Law. I don't think Paul is making such a statement because he would be contradicting himself. I am not able to examine the whole context now; I'll do it later.
when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law,
Paul is stating that the Gentiles don't have the Law, i.e., the Law was not made for them.
You're right! FOR ALL ISRAEL, not for the Gentiles.
So we do agree that the law of Moses is for all Israel. If it was given to them then it is a gift for them and is therefore irrevocable.
I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers, so that you may not be conceited: Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in. And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: “The deliverer will come from Zion; he will turn godlessness away from Jacob. And this is my covenant with them when I take away their sins.” As far as the gospel is concerned, they are enemies on your account; but as far as election is concerned, they are loved on account of the patriarchs, for God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable. Romans 11:25-29 (Romans 9:4-5)
Whatever laws Israel received from God is irrevocable and cannot be nullified. ( Mark 7:6-13, Isaiah 5:20-24, Romans 3:31) God would not write His law on/in their hearts if it has been revoked and nullified. And what did the bible/scriptures say about this in the NT?
Life Through the Spirit Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in sinful man, in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit. Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so... Romans 8:1-17
It is written that the Lord Jesus
abolished the law in His flesh.
For he himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by abolishing in his flesh the law with its commandments and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new man out of the two, thus making peace, Ephesians 2:14-
22
Why did our Lord Jesus abolish the law in His flesh?
It is to establish it in the spirit as explained in Romans 8 where it says that it was weakened by the sinful nature.
This is the reason why we have to die in our sinful nature and be raised in the spirit.
Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other. Galatians 5:24-26
This would take a long dizzy merry-go- round and a nauseating roller coaster ride if we don't humble ourselves and submit to the one LAWGIVER and JUDGE who is able to save and to destroy.
Here's an inspiring closing remark from someone given wisdom more than me and you
...Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil. Ecclesiastes 12:9-14
The word/s of the Master is a law to His servants, written on their hearts.
Confess Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and walk in Love.
GOD IS good and His LOVE endures forever. Amen
