Of course I've been told that Christ reigns now. It's called amillennialism. No future earthly premillennialism (no chiliasm: defeated in 381 AD at the First Council of Constantinople). In Erie / Scott

Do you accept according to Matt 28:19
That all power and authority in Heaven and on earth has been given to Christ? Matt 28:19

And do you accept that Paul says Christ reigns now in 1 Cor 15:25

And do you accept that Paul says that when all dominion, authority and power have been defeated Christ will hand over the kingdom to the Father?
1 Cor 15:24
And if you won't accept them, why not?

To PnuemaPsucheSoma--

Even if you were correct in all the arguments you've presented on this thread, these words are clearly not said in love. The person who originally posted this is a 15 year old kid, and you reply--quite promptly--with "Yawn. More blah-blah inference and total ignorance..." Really? You're 48 years old, and that's how you choose to speak to a kid, who whether you agree with him or not, is at least in his Bible and is seeking the truth? What percent of teenagers in this country do you think have ever even opened a Bible with any seriousness?

And the conversation between you and Scott just goes steadily downhill. Jesus rebuked Peter, Paul rebuked Peter. I do believe that the church is sadly lacking in discipline. But it must be done a certain way. And if you don't believe that Scott is even a Christian--I don't know whether or not that is the case--you have to approach him from a completely different angle yet again.

I presume I don't need to quote the applicable passages on love--I believe everyone here is familiar with them, or can find them quite easily. We cannot go against the Word of God in order to attempt to prove the Word of God, which by saying these things I believe you have done. And there is no getting caught up in the heat of the moment in an online forum--you can't just blurt something out. You type it, you see it on the screen, you have time to review what you've typed--it is all very intentional. And those are some unkind, unloving words that you are using to defend what you believe is the truth about a loving God.

Jesus Himself sat under governors and tutors until the time appointed of the Father. I have no problem with young novices participating and learning; they should be encouraged. But 15yos arguing with and correcting adults is ridiculous to accept.

God is love. The Word is God. The Word is truth. God as three "persons" isn't in the Word. Half-truths and misrepresentation are deceit, whether malicious or not.

Trinitarians have declared everyone else anathema for 1.7 millennia based on inherited indoctrinated error. All the in-fighting, squabbling, banishments, exile, disfellowship, bloodshed, segregation, elitism, arrogance, and exclusion has come from the "loving" Trinitarian regime. Where's your endictment of that and them?

I can't say individually who are His, whether it's Scott or anyone else. I don't think Trinity is outright heresy, since many have true faith as Trinitarians by believing on Jesus Christ.

I've had a convo with a Mod, and have ramped it down. But you have nothing to say about 1.7 millennia of loveless Trinity doctrine that has brought us the conflict of 30,000+ denominations. And the vast majority are in Filioque error. They can't even get the right Trinity.

This is the precious truth of who God is and has revealed Himself to be. Men have corrupted it and promoted something else for 1.7 millennia, putting aside truth AND love for the sake of their own man-made doctrine.

Trinity cost me my soul for 28 years, including 12 years in Pastoral ministry. It's quite personal. This is the greatest deception in all of Christendom. Maybe you could comment on how loving THAT is.

The real issue is Trinis fabricating an imaginary bridge of formulated Trinity doctrine from Nicea back to the Apostles. Being convinced by perception and heresay, and ignorantly repeating untruth doesn't make it any less a lie.

No. That is Matthew 28:18, not 28:19. Here is what 28:19 says, "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit," (NKJV).
name == one God
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit three Persons
one God == Holy Trinity
If Christ is God, His Father is God, and His Spirit is God: one God in three Persons: The Holy Trinity.
Christ is God, therefore God is The Holy Trinity.

The way you make personal attacks, like, some of them directed at me, it's hardly a

loveless Trinity doctrine. You continue to show enough antipathy against anyone who

believes in the Trinity. You use sarcasm and personal language against anyone who

disagrees with your anti-Trinity doctrine. Go figure. Perhaps you should understand how

you come across to others: your words are usually full of emotion and character

assassination against anything that comes from a Trinitarian. You speak animosity. You

lack credibility.

God bless you. But you have a problem in your emotions with anyone who is Trinitarian. I

get the feeling you don't like Trinitarians very much. And I am purposefully understating

it. It comes across as hatred, to me. You really hate the fact that 2000 years of Church

history is thoroughly Trinitarian. To follow your illogic, there must have been no church on

earth at all until the first anti-Trinity people came around. But you refuse to identify the

first anti-Trinity teachers, and act like you are getting your view all by yourself in your

private Bible study. Go figure.

Relevance? I didn't say anything about Hitler or Stalin either. I didn't say anything about what is going on in Burma or Darfur. Are you suggesting that I must address all errors in human history to be justified in addressing your loveless comments? My comments were not addressed towards any of the doctrinal discussions between you and Scott or anyone else. I am not interested in joining such a conversation. It's sad that if you can understand that Filioque is error, you don't understand that the

Trinity without the Filioque is the complete truth, lacking nothing. While we cannot expect

to rationally understand God, we can know the sound doctrines and plain teachings of the

word of God. It's meant to be understood as children: they don't try to prove it rationally

and they know all their analogies are inadequate. That's why mathematical language is

just an analogy, as God is beyond all our concepts of number, and even saying God is one,

who really understands the number one?. Mathematics is very spiritual, abstract, and

symbolic. In Erie PA / Scott

Dear loveasaweapon,
Perhaps some of what pneumapsuchesoma reveals will explain things a bit. In my experience, people who hold an extreme form of Calvinism often end up in skepticism or atheism, or at least they fall into hatred of anyone who isn't a Calvinist. And Calvinists pride themselves on being "rational" and "logical" in all things. There is nothing wrong with logic. But Calvinism is hyper-logical. It goes beyond the facts regarding God's sovereignty, and posits the mistaken idea that for God to be truly Sovereign, He must be the cause of everything. That is not so. Anyway, I'm sorry if this one man had a bad experience with God. Calvinist Trinitarians with their Filioque doctrine and double predestination sometimes use personal attacks against non-Calvinist. That happened to me recently. A certain Calvinist man said some very mean things to me personally. God bless him. I am not going to give into hate. In Erie/ Scott

Oh, yeah. I can see all the love Trinitarians have for Sabellians, Arians, Unitarians, etc. The in-fighting between Trinis has given us all the current love of the RCC-GOC and 30,000 denoms. Trinitarians are SO loving.

My strong expression is responsive to the loveless Trinity hypocrisy. Yes, I despise the deceit of Trinity doctrine and traditions of men that have undermined the true Gospel from being shared.

Your mentality is a perfect example. You think that when you insert a word (persons) in scripture, I have to prove it isn't there. You think I have to prove silence.

That's what draws my ire. You and others refuse to prove your doctrine. You require others prove wrong what you've not proven right.

It's irrational and dishonest.

Do you think I'm a Calvinist?

And yes, it would make more sense if everyone got past "persons" for me to reveal the truth.

What I think doesn't matter. What you think is all that matters to you, isn't it? Do you think you are a Calvinist? Do you think the Trinity is false? You're just looking for someone to say "yes" to everything you say. You're trying to force everyone to "prove" God is three persons. God can take care of Himself. Thank God it's not up to me to prove anything. Believe what you will. Me, I still believe God is Trinity: Father, Son, Holy Spirit, three persons. If you can't deal with that, just call me a gorilla glue man. In Erie / Scott

I'd rather say... 1 x 1 x 1 = 1

How can you measure the volume of a One whole room?... Width x height x length = (x) <---

God the Father, and the God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit = Godhead... though they are different persons but one divinity...

Ive wondered about this as well?
Is this refuring to the one God?
Or simply refuring to the oneness with God the father?
Or is it a statement to more understanding?

Dear pickles, Read Ephesians. It talks about one body and one Spirit, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all. The oneness of Christians (John 17) is what Christ prayed for, and it is a living reality in the Orthodox Church. See: Sparks, Fr. Jack Norman, Ph.D., Dean, St. Athanasius Academy of Orthodox Theology, Elk Grove, CA. Orthodox Study Bible: Old and New Testaments. Nashville, TN: Thomas Nelson Bibles, Copyright 2008. If you want a Bible you can trust, get an OSB Orthodox Study Bible. It's a good introductory Bible for a new Christian, and teaches true, Christian doctrines. Its notes are much helpful in understanding the meaning of the texts of the Bible, and has all 49 books of the Old Testament, all 76 books of the whole Bible. Not the abbreviated Bible canon of Protestantism, which has only 66 books, which is a FALSE CANON. In Erie / Scott Harrington

Thankyou for all the info, I am greatfull for your help. :)
I did ask this question, not so much for myself though, but because of the understanding that is in these words.
I asked to bring more thought to this thread. :)
Also because I do believe there is understanding to this mystery in these words of Jesus.
I struggle to put to words, but, somehow I believe the understanding is already in us in Jesus.
Thankyou and God bless.

Is this the passage you are refering to Pickles

My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who believe in me through their message.
That all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you . May they also be in us so that the world will beieve you have sent me
I have given them the glory you gave me, that they may be one AS we are one. I in them and you in me. May they be bought to complete UNITY to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.
John 17:20-23

I can only give you my own opinion of what these verses mean
Christ is praying to his Father for all future believers in him, all Christians
He prays to his Father that just as his Father is in him and he is in his Father may the believers be in Christ and his Father.
That seems amazing to me. How can we be in Christ and his Father as they are in each other, but then Christ says
'That they may be one AS we are one'
So if we know how we as Christians can be one, we know according to Christ how he and his Father are one, and we also know how we can be in Christ and his Father as they are in each other

There is only one way we as Christians can be one. Of one heart and one mind in the SPIRIT.
'That they may be one AS we are one'
And as Christ goes on to say I believe confirming this
'May they be bought to COMPLETE UNITY

So if the only way we as believers can be one is in the Spirit, that is how Christ and his Father are one, of one heart and mind in the Spirit

Of course the Spirit came upon Christ in bodily form at his Baptism, and it was after this that he started his public ministry.
He said the miracles he did were by the Father working in him(through the Spirit) Fotr Christ confirmed that the miracles performed were by the power of the Spirit
And the fulness of the Godhead bodily rests in Christ(again by the Holy Spirit)

I think sometimes we talk so much about the Father and the Son, but it is the Holy Spirit who is the power of God on earth, and it is in the Spirit that Father and son are one, and that is how we can be one as believers
I am positive that if we as believers were more yielded to the Holy Spirit in our lives there would be far less arguments(and that includes me too!)
Because the more the spirit is in charge in our lives the closer we are brought to each other, even to a unity that I believe would bring no different denominations but one in Christ by the spirit.

This I believe is a sad indictment of US ALL. We are often(INCLUDING ME) too busy arguing amongst each other. This proves how far our lives are from being led and fully yielded to the Spirit

God Bless

Amen , well said!

Thankyou for posting the scriptures, I always struggle remeboring where to find them. :)
As each day passes in Jesus, this scripture speaks loudly to how all of us can be one in Jesus.
Consider, Jesus said we must set ones self aside to know Him and follow Him
Jesus made a point to wash the feet of the apostles before the cross.
Everything Jesus did, and came to do was in obedience to God Our Father, and for us.
We cannot become one, if we hold onto self.
In Jesus, or as a group.
It is in the love and service of God, and each other, in the love of Jesus that we know and become part of the one in Jesus Christ Our Lord.
The one in the world is to separate, indivigual.
Jesus said, I do not give as the world does.
Jesus also, did not argue. :)
It is in Jesus, setting ones self aside, loving and serving Him and others, that we become the one in Jesus.
No more self, all in Jesus, God Our Father, by the Holy Spirit!
This is what brings eternal life!
Scripture says, when the imperfect passes away, the perfect comes. Jesus!

God bless.
