It is amazing.......how many people cannot grasp the absolute truth that we add NOTHING to being saved, justified, sealed and being sanctified positionally in Christ.....I mean......it is utterly a shame and a sham how many devalue Jesus, his work, his promises, his power, his ability to save by faith because of grace........
It is so sad...

To many people treating our LORD on what He has done on the cross for us as a pay as you go credit , yet some claim we are saved by grace through faith , not by works , and then add on works , why do they do that ?

Revelation 14:13
And I heard a voice from heaven, saying to me: Write: Blessed are the dead, who die in the Lord. From henceforth now, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; for their works follow them.

Not trying to live with laws that I can't keep and breaking one and not being able to drop down and repent and have the blood of Christ and forgiveness but to have to carry that sin, along with the next one, along with the next one until the time I can take my without spot or blemish perfect animal to be killed for all the things I have failed at then walking away feeling guilty anyhow knowing there is no way for me to ever measure up to all I am supposed to be day after day after day and never being able to talk to God because I am in a state of sin more of the time than I am out of it and God can't hear a word I say except when I have no sin while everywhere I go there is something my flesh is wanting and I can not take control of it BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE THE HOLY SPIRIT.

That is what I rest from. I have the Grace of God, the Sacrifice of Christ, the Holy Spirit to lead me, the blood to wash me clean upon repentance and the absolute guilt free feeling that my sins are completely forgiven because of the infinite value of the blood shed for it. That is my light yoke, my light burden, my rest in Christ everyday.

What does your rest look like??
Ok, from what I gather, rest looks to you like freedom from guilt and trying to measure up to impossible standards. Is this what you are saying?

For me rest looks like peace and freedom from anxiety and fears. Trusting instead of clenching the hands out of worry. Contentment instead of constantly wanting more. I believe freedom from the weight of guilt is also a part of rest.

Why then did Jesus say, "No one can do anything against the Truth but only for the Truth." According to this word it's the opposite: the religgious leaders desiring control could not do anything against Jesus, but we can advance the Truth of God by advancing in obedience of Faith. As James said, I will show you my Faith by my work. Obviously saying that as we walk in Love we adance the truth: that "Faith works by Love," and the Truth is hiden from those desiring control so that there is nothing they can do to be saved.

"Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them."
Jesus refered to us bearing the cross dauly, Paul mentioned "I die daily." "He that have suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin." "Having fellowship in the sufferings of Christ, being made connformed to His death." We are permitted to go on to perfection as we learn Humility of Jesus, tamed as friends of God. To be friends of God we follow in the example of Jesus as servants of no reputation. The number of those who must suffer with Him will be fulfilled during the time of trouble such as never was, in my lifetime. I am 64 and 36 years ago the Lord told me: Beholld I am with you in a time of trouble such as never was and shall never be again. A man who is now around 66 was told he would be on earth when the Lord returns... There are many confirmation that we are in the labour pains, to be delivered.

2 Corinthians 13:8
For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.

Paul's words, in a letter of rebuke to the church at Corinth.

They are not a recipe for attaining salvation through works.

Paul also wrote more letters to other churches about how salvation is secured by grace through faith in Christ.
Here's some verses for you to ponder.......

Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Romans 4:4-5
Now the wages of the worker are not credited as a gift, but as an obligation. 5However, to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the wicked, his faith is credited as righteousness.

Romans 9:16
So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy.

2 Timothy 1:9

who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began,

Romans 3:21-27
But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; 22Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: 23For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

27Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.

How hard is it to grasp...He that has entered into HIS REST HAVE CEASED FROM THEIR OWN LABOR.

THEY absolutely cannot grasp that simple truth!
Cause they haven't died yet. Cause He spoke of another day. Because we are told our works do follow us. Because we are told to go teach baptize. Because you don't seem to understand what "rest" we have been given.

What you can not seem to hear is we are no longer working for "salvation" and not trying to add onto it. That is how you feel.

no, I will not quit telling the truth. the Law is not divided into parts. I understand why some think it is, but this thought process is based on assumptions, not facts.

so, you see, I can't just rip Leviticus 26 out of my Bible. I can't pretend that the greek word for law has a mostly plural meaning. I can't pretend that there is one single verse in the N.T. that instructs gentiles who became Christ followers to keep the Sabbath. I can't pretend that the Law was given to the whole world.

so, you asked " o.k, you accept Christ, then what? " well, I have an answer- follow the N.T. commands and instructions for Christ followers.
So you are saved. Great. A gentile to be preached to, not a Priest doing the preaching and approaching God. I understand. You are saved and resting. You got that foot into heaven. You are good to go. But why do you go against those who being called to move forward, past that. At the very least if all you are going to be about is the NT, then at least be about those instructions. You know "those Hebrews" are gonna be grafted back in don't you. So why when they were blinded for you do you spend that time putting them down. None of those are questions for me, they are for you.

I think this lays it out well... if you get this statement then you understand what I am trying to state.
How much pleasure you must give God. He can always be sure you will look the exact same as you did the last time He looked. No changes there.

Yes, knowing why we are here, what we are supposed to do, what is coming, makes the problems of this world all but disappear. Yes, rest from "testing" and rest in the knowledge of the love of God, Our Father who loves us and only wants to see us do our best and may have to chastise once in a while but there will be no "death" because of a few falls. And rest from the way life was lived under the law. And all you said and so much more. We have it so easy, we are so blessed. My biggest blessing is "time". I have been given time to do what I love most in this world, and that is study the Word. It comes in the form of being a caregiver, my next biggest blessing. Thank you for a good summary of the other post. I appreciate it.

Brother, we come to Christ because we are aware of how dead in sin we are. At one time I even though Christians were missing it: that we had nothing to rejoice about, being dead in sin. Then the Lord told me: Because I Live you shall live also. I'm not trying to save myself yet it sais, "Save yourself from this untoward generation (not towards God)." Obedience of Faith is hidden from those with a divided spirit Revelation 3:15 and Daniel, "The wize shall understand but none of the wicked shall understand." Those who still love this present world remain babes divided etween good and evil, with their affections in this life. "Because they received not the Love of the Truth, God sent them strong delusions," believing they can go on living for themselves. Few are permitted to go on to perfection. Few are willing to suffer and die with Him to cease from sin, we dont like to suffesuffer and the Way of perfection in in the sufferings of Christ, " To grow up in Him."
