What is your opinoin of modesty?

I know it's a touchy subject for a lot of girls but i'm just wondering where has modesty gone?
 
1 tim 2:8-10

Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing. 9 I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, 10 but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.
 
lol my husband dress me because I prefer baggy clothes and he'd rather I wear things more tailored and form fitting, so <shrugs> everyone's idea of modesty is different. i think the important part is to dress in a manner that doesn't make other people lust after you and your flesh and thus leading them to stumble over their weakness. personally i don't think it matters what we wear if people could control their lust people could walk around nude like in the garden of eden but most people can't so its better to be clothed for their sake.
 
What i dont get is why women walk around dressed like hookers then complain about the guys that hit on them.

Or Why christian women think there dressed modestly in clothes that cover them up but are so tight if they bent over there whole outfit would explode

I have seriously considered asking some of these girls how they get their jeans on.. Like it must have taken a whole team of people to get in them bad boys!

Down the drain. :) We as Christians have become complacent with today's standards and have allowed things that are unpleasing in God's sight. It surprises me some of the things I see women wear even at church! I think it boils down to the fact there in no longer a fear of the Lord and His Word. When God is taken out of the equation everything starts to fall apart, and lack of modesty happens to be a result.

Great verses! I clicked on your video link, and that is an amazing message! I love Paul Washer! He is an amazing man of God. His sermons and testimony have influenced my life very much! Have you heard of John Piper?
 
i think the way u dress, what u say , whatever u do it all starts in the heart , if Jesus is there it will reflect in the way u dress, behave , what u say etc..
 
Thank you everyone (: Modesty is not only a sign of self respect but also a gift & not a temptation. You wouldn't want to be the reason your brother/ sister is stumbling? dressing immodestly is a temptation that Satan loves to use against Christians. (:

people should NOT judge others by what they wear or don't wear. GOD SEES PEOPLE"S HEARTS. clothes and sins are not important. If more people would look at others with the spiritual eyes of GOD then we could walk around naked with no problems concerning lust or other sinful things.

ummmm I'm sorry but i can not agree with your answer AnandaHya clothing and sin are important. would you want you friends that are guys to look at you in a mini skirt and tub top and have lustful thoughts about you? no at least I'd hope not. You said if we looked at things through Gods eyes then we would not have a problem, you are right but the fact of the matter is that we are not god, we are not perfect, and we do sin. Everyone has fallen short and it's our job as a christian to help others along and not be a stumbling block. Women are especially told in the bible to dress modestly. We are not judging people or condemning them we are simply following what is right. And we do not have the right to judge eternally condemning people to hell but we are to judge people as to whether it is good to keep there company. I would never turn anyone away who is open to the gospel and learning how to live right regardless of their attire or habits but you also would never see me walking around in a too short skirt and revealing shirt...
 
I think women should be able to wear w/e they want (to an extent, of course.) We as men should control ourselves and not lust after them, and women should do the same for men. It's wrong to say "oh you women should put on baggier clothing b/c I'm looking at your breasts." How ridiculous does that sound? That's pretty much what we're telling women to do. Carry on, ladies, we men will learn to control ourselves.

I don't mean dress in supper baggie cloths just not super tight revealing cloths. Parts of our bodies should remain covered and only seen by our husbands not every man we pass by. (:
