Waiting rooms are aptly named too.
You wait, and wait, and wait.
I have a friend who is a contractor. They got sick of that waiting game so one day when they had an appointment and arrived ten minutes early thinking they'd get in early, they ended up sitting in the waiting room for two hours. Finally, they got up, informed reception of that time thing, grabbed the business card of reception and the new Doctor and left.
She then had her billing department bill the Doctor for two hours of her valuable time. Using her company invoice of course.
After it had arrived, she got this call from that same Doctor. He was outraged, threatening not to pay, chewing her out for daring to bill him, and on and on.
When he'd settled down she asked him if she could ask a question, he said yes.
She asked, if she would have skipped the appointment would he have billed her?
Yes, of course! He replied.
Then she explained. She's a professional who has commitments in the field. She had an appointment at such and such a time, and had arrived early only to sit and wait for two hours without being called for her appointment meeting. She was owed for her time wasted as much as he would be if she'd skipped the appointment.
After that, when she had an appointment she would come in the Doctor's entrance at the back of the office and she'd be seen immediately!
I'd have gone in to reception and the waiting room just so people could see how it works. If they asked, I'd tell them. Send those bills for wasting your time waiting! This could be you!
