No, In the greek, He said they do not LIVE or HABITUALLY sin.

Again, Study. John did not contradict himself.

John never said we stopped. He said we do not LIVE in sin.

A pharisee thinks he is not like the sinner, even paul called himself a sinner,

you do not understand the passage at all, it does not say you have ceased from sin

Our focus should be love,, by love we are like God

when our focus is law or not sinning we are in deep trouble

It does say. And we do know..

Maybe you do not, but it is quite clear who they are.. The world!

The world has never seen (Known) God scripture says.
The 'past feeling' part of the passage (Ephesians 4:19 KJV) suggests they were illuminated with the truth but rejected it. It can be argued that they had 'feeling' (a sensitivity to the Spirit), but do not now, and as a result have given themselves over to "lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness".

I think we're getting off topic. This thread is about salvation not being by works.

Paul talks about how the Galatians were saved, yet suggests that they didn't 'know' God. So, apparently, to not know God does not mean, categorically, that you are not born again as John seems to suggest. But Paul is consistent with John in the fact that this lack of knowing God (in their salvation) caused them to be weak and fall away to being justified by works of the law.

Ephesians 4 says nothing about trying to be justified by works of the law.

What it does suggest is they had feeling, then they did not because of blindness of the heart and turned themselves over to lasciviousness.

It never says they were saved, then lost that salvation.

Your post has been answered so many times since you have been here I lost Count, I have no desire to rehash past argument knowing it will come to the same result.

No it has not. Try clicking on the reply icon on the right. That would be a good start. Then address each point as they are made.

I didn't say that.
I said it suggests they had at one time been illuminated.
Unsaved people can be illuminated. And if they believe the illuminated person then becomes saved.
Illuminated all by itself does not mean saved or unsaved. It can refer to both an unsaved person and a saved person.

I disagree

they can be convicted of sin righteousness and judgment, but the things of god are still foolishness to them, because they are not his

no one becomes truly illuminated until god enters them and makes them born again.

But wasn't it you who said the illuminated people in Hebrews 6:4 are not saved?

What does that subject have to do with salvation not being by works (the topic of this thread)?
I only take adjustment from the initiator of this thread @dcontroversal :) and you are not him.

Salvation not being by works is synonymous with salvation being secure .... if there was nothing we could do to earn salvation there sure enough is nothing we can do to loose it....since our works/righteousness/ law keeping have no bearing on either side.
