I just wondering what others thought about anger and if there are times when it might be justified? I have two debating voices on the subject both quoting scripture so I'm just wondering what everyone else's thought on the subject:

"Just wars" "leaving vegenance to God" etc.

When someone does a selfish thing that hurts us, we sometimes can’t help feel anger, I don’t think. What is important is what we do when we are angry.

It is important not to act until we understand what the consequences of our actions will be.

Whatever you do, you will be judged for what you did, regardless of why you did it. For instance, if someone punches you in the nose and your punch them back, the Lord will discipline both of you. Revenge is never acceptable.

What is permissible is to defend yourself from people’s selfish acts.

i was thinking of watching injustice being done to others and whether we should be angry when we see people abusing loved ones and justifying it using scriptures and saying they do it in GOD's name. Is there such a thing as justified anger?

God gets angry but should we or just say a prayer and leave it in God's hands?

I don't know I think we should act out of love for the person being hurt, but how do you keep from feeling anger towards the abuser?

I don't know if we can do anything about our anger. What is important is what we DO when we are angry.

It is good to protect people from harm, even if it means getting into a fight, I think.

I don't see how it matters how you feel about people who abuse others. You just have to make sure you don't sin against them.

Anger should move us to action in that case, I would think. Do you mean like a child being abused by a parent or a woman in a domestic violence situation?

Feeling anger toward the abuser is natural. They are causing harm to our loved one. But say, punching the person out or seeking revenge, then no, we are not called to do that. We aren't called to unnecessarily put ourselves in harm's way. Getting the victim to a safe place or situation is something we can do. Leaving the abuser to the laws of the land and of course ultimately into God's hands is what is left.

Anger is just a natural human emotion, it's just a matter of keeping in check how much you let it control you. I know it's an issue for my father and I because we were both born with really short fuses, and it's the same with my boyfriend. We find outlets to help us calm down, and whatever we do we don't let the anger stay and fester. It's an unavoidable but manageable emotion.

Be ye angry and sin not!!

Have to remember that the only righteous anger is the anger of God. Now, I get angry when I see sin, and so does God. So if you are being like him, then of course that should be natural. But that doesn't mean you can go around putting people down, especially using scripture, that would make me even more angry! May Jesus bless you.

I can learn to compromise
Anything but my desires
I can learn to get along
With all the things I cant explain

I can learn to close my eyes
To anything but injustice
I can learn to get along
With all the things I dont know

You can surrender
Without a prayer
But never really pray
Pray without surrender

You can fight
Without ever winning
But never ever win
Without a fight

-Lyrics to 'Resist' by Neil Peart (Rush)

I don't usually quote songs but I felt that this beautifully expresses my feelings on the subject.

Anger is not a sin,,,Remember when Christ drove the peddlars out of the temple??
