They are very similar but the later is 4x as common in women. I understand that Hitler most likely had it.
These people have no idea that they even have this problem.
The funny thing is, they mirror what they say they can't stand.
It still makes my head spin even after being around one for years.
We are all kind of narcissistic, but of different levels. Some are tolerable but some are unbearable. I find people who are feeling entitled, very demanding and toxic as the unbearable kind of narcissist. They will drain you in no time if you are with them.
Quite true the word disorder is used when it becomes a problem. To love our neighbors as we love ourselves requires, that we love ourselves. It's perfectly healthy.
With that said, sometimes we don't love ourselves as much as we should.
Self care is required. Especially if you are entangled with a person who has this disorder, that's when you need to care for your own well being.
kind of. In recent years I found that my mum had it. But the crazy thing was, she made out like I was the crazy one, and everyone believed her.
I am still dealing with it, but thankfully I found out I wasnt alone. Lots of daughters have to deal with a narcisistic mother. People can always divorce a spouse when things get unbearable, but its way harder to split from your own mother.
Daughters tend to get the brunt of it worse than sons but it can affect all children in the family.
It can be hard to explain to others but sometimes you just got to break the taboo that says your mother doesnt love you or didnt know how to love you. People kind of assume that all mothers love their children uncondtionally but its just not the case.
just yesterday she got mad at me for not doing anything right in her eyes, falsely accused me and even said she wouldnt care if someone came and killed me. Yep.
Wow, I'm sorry you receive that kind of treatment, especially from your mother.
Explaining the situation to others can be challenging, because unless they have been in a similar situation, they don't fully understand what you are going through. False accusations is one thing they are extremely good at, but if you confront them about it, they act like it's normal behavior. I've also witnessed them doing things that they complain about when other people do the same thing.
They are very confusing.
Lanolin, I'm very sorry about what your mother said to you, and I hope you know you did NOT deserve that. No matter how you are treated, please know that you are too important to receive that. The fact that we can't help people like this
(I've tried) makes it harder to deal with and accept.
I'm dealing with it on a different level but same disorder.

Im reading a book at the moment called 'Daughter detox' there re several helpful books on the subject. when I started reading these bokks I first heard of the term 'no contact' for some its the only option after theyve tried for many years. another is 'narcissitic supply' . its comforting to know here is a name for it and some of the patterns of behaviour are recognisable and some of the reasons behind it.
what Ive find helpful is journalling, talking to God and having friends to talk to that can empathise and understand.
sometimes I just need time alone. Mum doesnt feel the need to apologise for any hurtful things she says to me, or about me to others. I sometimes wonder why Im picked on as the scapegoat. But Im glad I am saved by grace or I dont know if I would have survived. I had depression for many many years. Had to break many curses etc.

There are so many books on this topic, and I find that reading them is very helpful and inspiring. Some are better than others, but they all address the same problem. The more you read, the more you gain by means of coping.
Journaling is great therapy! A way to record what happens and a way to get your feelings out. Another good thing to do is practice self care. Journaling is one way, and doing something that makes YOU happy. Focusing on what you enjoy and what makes you comfortable. Maybe a hobby like reading or crafts, watching a favorite movie or tv show and things like that. Having time to yourself is important so you can do these things and reflect.
Talking to God is the most important thing. He will help guide you.
It sounds to me like you are already on the right path. And you can consider me a friend with a good listening ear!

Hey, that's quite alright! There are so many threads and posts on here that it's hard to keep up with all of them. Then later you come across it and you're like,

I really need to find that thread! I'm sorry, I had no idea.
This topic is big in my life because I've been with a narcissist for a very long time, and it's wrecked havoc on my life. I'm so restricted on what I can do, and who I can communicate with. He had me brainwashed against people for some time, but then I woke up and reality hit me. Why am I still with him?
I might be able to elaborate on that more soon.
You got me to open up a little. It's a long story.
