throughout Florida's public school system, from now on, it will be taught that family is a man and a man, woman and a woman, and woman and a man all of them with their children. I'm not going to be affected, since im in college, but those who are still in school will. This children will grow up thinking that gay families are normal SMH..It is clearly that we are leaving in the ends of times, it's a matter of time before Jesus brings justice and ends all this nonsense.

write to your representative and pray, start a petition excluding the teaching of "families" that include gays. they don't have to condemn gay marriage but they shouldn't condone it either.

teach your children what is right and moral at HOME and in the CHurch.

No believer should ever put hope in ANY system men establish. Not in their governments nor in their institutions. This should not be a surprise to believers.

The saddest part of all this is that so many people out there support it.

How so? Florida Prop 2 and Statute 741.212(1-3) are still in effect. DOMA is no longer receiving federal support, of course, but by law in FL "spouse" means only the member of a union between one man and one woman.

Has something changed recently? I wasn't aware of any cases that had concluded recently.

I should note - one of the main argument used to support Prop 2 was that if it didn't pass, school children would be indoctrinated into the gay lifestyle. Presumably, since it did pass, this has been prevented.

You are absolutely right! For anyone with a Christian background, who wants their children to receive an education in old-fashioned "family values", my advice would be to home school at any cost. Better, in my opinion, for a person to be ignorant of calculus than to believe that "truth is relative".

Homeschooled children are also often anti-social and creepy...

I think so heavily opposing this is silly. It's as if people think that their child will actually become gay if they hear it's ok.

There is really no sensible argument as to why homosexual marriage should be prevented. Because it devalues marriage?? And the straight people who marry and divorce 5 times over and steal each other's children away with lies and legal litigation aren't lowering the value of marriage?! If all sin is equal, why cherry pick? I say to each his own for they cause no harm to anyone else.

Even if we do believe that gay marriage should be prohibited, it should be kept in mind that in Florida no legal arrangements even remotely similar are possible; i.e. no civil unions. The argument TDWP22 is using goes much further in restricting the legal protections of couples who choose to organize themselves this way.

For instance, should gay couples be prevented from seeing each other in the hospital? What occurs when one is incapacitated and cannot vouch for the other? How are car and health insurance handled, especially if they go through the state? Taxes, etc.?

If it were just about prohibiting marriage, this would be one thing. Proponents of the law in FL didn't stop there, though, and have more to defend.

If gay people can't enter civil unions, why can Muslims build mosques? Why can porn stores stay open? Why can they make legal arrangements to procure their videos? As far as I can tell, it's not a general principle that sin means you're prohibited from entering into legal arrangements which protect or even facilitate the sin.

OR, parents could raise children with "family values" and not expect the school to teach it to them.

I laughed at your comment, FSUBoy.and am reminded of a Tim Hawkins Addams Family spoof: The Home School Family YouTube - Tim Hawkins - A Homeschool Family

Funny stuff, but really an unfortunate stereotype that is counter to the reality that I have observed. The home school kids I know are vivacious and out-going, courteous and articulate. That's not a bad set of social graces.

I do agree with KnightdeKristos, families need to teach family values. The school shouldn't be expected to do this. Unfortunately, the school system has been allowed to do this.

As a parent I teach my kids morals. I have had my 5yr old ask me about men dating men and women dating women. I just told her that yes some people do this, and god says it is wrong. But just like you sometimes do somethings that mommy says no to, people do the same thing with god. But I also told her it is NOT OK to hate these people. It is gods job like its mommys job to punish you when you misbehave. We are supposed to love everyone.

Even though I disagree with you, that is the PERFECT thing to tell your children. Thank you for being an upstanding American :D

Do you have any proof that this is factual. Has there been a law redefining what a family is. Has curriculum been redisigned to reflect that?

I just find this hard to believe because generally things about "families" are not taught in high school. That is taught in elementary school. If a 16 year old doesnt already understand the concept of a family, he/she has some more serious issues they need to deal with.

I tried to edit ,my last post but I was moving too slow.

I just find this hard to believe becasue the definition of family is typically explained in a broad sense during the elementary years.

Ex. - Your family is all the people you live with in your house. or All the people that you live with and all of those peoples parents brothers and sisters.

Then a teacher may ask students who they live with and they will explain and the teacher will say those are all of the people in your family and then they bay be asked to draw a picture of their family or something like that.

And for those of you bashing public high school If a 16 year old doesnt already understand the concept of a family, he/she has some more serious issues they need to deal with.

(First, let me say that I admire teachers. The burden on them is tremendous and they are highly under-appreciated.)

We should not rely on our school systems to teach our children ethics, morals and matters of faith. That's our job as parents. We need to do what Moses' mother apparently did during the precious time she had with him as a very young child: teach our children who they are in God. Teach them godly ways, not in word only, but by EXAMPLE ON A DAILY BASIS. Pray WITH them and FOR them.

Our children are not our own. They belong to the Lord. They are gifts God entrusts to us and we're accountable to Him for what we do and don't teach them.

If we do these things, our children will recognize truth when they hear it. My son has attended public school his entire life and he knows when someone is spouting nonsense, and he knows where to look for the Truth.
