I have eleven foreign coins from the early 1900s, but they don't seem to be worth much and I think I will hold on to them.

I have a large cent collection. I have one from each year from 1816-1857.

What condition is your cent in?

Most anything you find in your pocket won't be worth much anyway. There are too many coin collectors grabbing all the valuable coins.

But you could still start a coin collection. Go to a coin store and pick up some coin folders. Then start saving coins. Get the best coin for each date and mint mark (and design). Don't clean coins (that damages them).

It's chipped on the edges, and a little worn but you can still see the year on it and most of the coin's features..

Without looking at a price list, coins like that in G-4 (good) condition are probably worth about $18 on the retail market. G-4 means it’s well worn, but the chips on the edges might disqualify the coin from being a G-4.

Lol, thanks for the info. I don't know much about collecting coins and only have it because I found it when helping a friend clean out their grandma's house (after her grandma died) and kept it. I didn't realize how old it was until recently. :p I think I'll keep it until it's retail price goes up some more. :D

It could be worth more than I suggested, but if a coin is damaged, it loses significant value. The better condition it is in, the more it is worth. What's really important is how rare it is.
