Jonah did say those things, from the belly of the fish he was in. Where God had him 3 days not forever.
Maybe I can help your comprehension. It was effectively forever (in hell) until God delivered him up from the pit. It was conditional on God's mercy.

Being disingenuous I see. Does the Tanakh contain the word Revelation? See what I mean. You play games. Clear for all to see.

What is this Nether World to the Jews?
Ah, so you don't actually care to participate in a cordial and informed discussion.
You see, there is a world of difference between what appears in the KJV as, "Hell", and its description as compared to what is Sheol in Judaism.

But you do not know this. What is clear for all to see are the games you're playing.
No worries, we have a few who are here and do the same thing. It's unfortunate, but it is the Net.

You could have just answered what this Nether World is....To the Jews....

I have given you over 20 referenced to it in my first link.

Oh, there must certainly be a bridge members only club out there somewhere that upon application provides their newbies with a link to CC's BDF.
Why don't they ever link them to atheist forums.

On the out side looking in... just a thought here ok? Shooting from the hip so to speak. Maybe one can disagree and.. thats it. When you make it PERSONAL as some of you have. Your point is gone. How I would treat Christ is how I treat all.

Since we read Sheol and suggesting death. The natural explanation would be to say duh 3 days you would die. Yet this living word is not just a normal book. A stick tossed to the ground turns into a snake. Or a bronze snake on a stick..look at it and your healed. Could be more to this story. No I don't know lol

At the inception of this thread it became personal as to the motive that compelled its author. To post and then mock, ridicule, resort to circular unreasoning, and obstinance, while pursuing the same uninformed line of thought. To what end only the author knows.
However, if we are to consider how we would speak to our Lord we would first be cognizant of the fact that He comports Himself with the regal respectful characteristic of Jesus.
Whereas in speaking of Jesus it should be observed that when He encountered devils in human form He was not cordial. He addressed them as vipers, etc...

I have also advised people here to comport themselves in a manner that would give Christ praise. However, I think I should also have considered that a community that has the light of Christ within it is like unto a beacon for the damned, and those who would think to abuse Christians for their own sport.

And while it is not appropriate to display rude behavior toward such fallen individuals, I believe we would be remiss in arguing that we should tolerate such behavior, engage to furtherance of its sin that which clearly holds contempt for our faith so as to invite said one to sin even further due to the attention, and imagine that the intention of such a one was personal in that regard from the inception of its entry into our community.
Furthermore, what is responding to questions concerning scripture and put to those who are in Christ, if not representative of what we hold as personal faith and understanding.

This is a protracted reply and yet, I feel it is necessary in that we have all encountered of late more than one individual that appears to enjoy , shall we say, baiting and pulling the chain of the faithful gathered here.
To address that is to keep to scripture. To condone it, even defend the behavior, is not.

I don't think you're qualified to help anyone's comprehension.

Jonah 2
I went down to the [a]moorings of the mountains;
The earth with its bars closed behind me forever;
Yet You have brought up my life from the pit,
O Lord, my God.

Yup, I think my comprehension is fine.

You had 3 chances to make right on your statement, and all 3 avoided. I take it that you were in error then, and the chapter is closed. The Tanakh refers to Sheol/Hell/Nether World.

How do you link "Hell" to "Lake of Fire"? Sincere question from my side.
Simple.

PURPOSE FOR THE CREATION OF HELL
Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the Devil and his angels: (Mt 25:41)

THE ULTIMATE DESTINATION OF THE DEVIL IS IN THE LAKE OF FIRE
And the Devil that deceived them was cast into the Lake of Fire and brimstone
, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. (Rev 20:10)

THE ULTIMATE DESTINATION OF THE UNRIGHTEOUS
And whosoever was not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the Lake of Fire. *Rev 20:15) But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. (Rev 21:8)

No I think we are talking cross purposes. I was asking you whether you have evidence of the lake of fire (brimstone) bring called hell? To me hell is the holding nether regions where the departed who are not in Christ go (Before the judgement). Only after the day of the lord are all the unrighteous cast into the lake of fire. This hasn't happened yet.

The two people to be cast into the lake of fire is the beast and the false prophet. The third person to be cast into the lake of fire is the Devil himself (1000 years later). Only then are all the unrighteous cast into the lake of fire at the great white throne judgement.

So hell is pre "lake of fire".

Just because the translators of the KJV translated Sheol as "hell" or sometimes "the grave" does not mean that Sheol is Hell. Sheol is Hades, and Hades is not Hell (the Lake of Fire). I believe it was a great disservice to use the words "hell" and "the grave" for Sheol (which should have simply been transliterated (and Hades too).

Sheol is in the heart of the earth (the lower parts of the earth) or near the core of the earth. Before the resurrection of Christ all souls and spirits went to Sheol/Hades, but the righteous dead were kept separate from the unrighteous dead. So Jonah would have been with the righteous dead in Sheol for three days and three nights (to prefigure the descent of Christ into Sheol/Hades for the same period of time). Jonah did experience resurrection.

Note: The Nicene Creed says that Christ descended into "hell", but He descended into Sheol/Hades.
Jesus did go to hell, not to suffer though. He also went to Abraham’s bosom.

Here is proof of what I wrote above.

Revelation 20
14 Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

There is a clear distinction between Hades (Hell) and the Lake of Fire. Because Hades(Hell) is thrown into the Lake of Fire.

Jonah chapter 2 starts with,
"Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from the stomach of the fish,"
Jonah 2:1 NASB
Verse 2 starts out, "and said", ...
All that stuff from the rest of the chapter
He also said the earth with it's bars were around me forever.
So I guess that down in sheol there are bars all around and because he said forever, he never got out and is still there today. He also said he was expelled from God's sight. So I guess God couldn't see him but could hear him.

So I guess God can't keep Jonah or whoever he pleases, in the belly of a fish for 3 days if it's what suits him.
Again, Jonah’s prayer came after three days and three nights. He’s been delivered from hell. The prayer is past tense describing his experience in hell. Ifjonah never died, then Jesus never died. It’s that simple.

This is the problem with a doctrine that you are creating. Quoting Jonah I cried out from the depths of sheol. Is a man able to repent and be saved after he is dead and in hell?

There are hundreds of accounts and testimonies of people who have died on the operating table or in car accidents and have witnessed the other side and have come into contact with the Lord. Some saw heaven. Some saw hell. They testified as to what they saw. They were in communication with the Lord in many of these instances. These people, dead in every respect to those doctors working on them, returning with life to their bodies...a miracle for all to see.

So yes. Not only plausible as per these stories, but actual in the case of Jonah.

In fact the changed lives that resulted after these contacts are a miracle in itself.
