Is sex and sex related issues now the unofficial religion of America? Seems that it’s everywhere and it certainly has its disciples. Some of the biggest political and social matters coming about are the following:
> Abortion
> Contraceptives
> Gender identity
> Same sex marriage
> Infidelity
> Sexual education via public institutions
> Entertainment and social media

There is many more but I thought these would be sufficient as we are all exposed to them. Many Americans have given themselves over to this old but new doctrine of flesh mixed with religious practice.

How can Christians preach to those that become hostile when confronted with this? As we all know, people invoke emotionalism when these topics are brought up. Again, I welcome all opinions with regards to this.
since i went offtopic also i believe i should answer all these one by one:

abortion im against it in most cases. i said most because sometimes the mother life might be in risk if something is wrong with the fetus there then i think its a tough call even.

contraceptives i got no problem with, world already has way too many people that produce too much pollution and technology, noah was told to be fruitful and multiply and we have done that far and beyond, india 1 billion china 1 billion.

gender identity this one is simple not hard to figure out, the doctor does it when we are born and even regular people can see whats going on there.

same sex marriage shouldnt ever happen marriage is a christian institution between man and woman

infidelity is the worst i hate it and i wish we had a law against it in our countries instead of making excuses for it all the time

i think education is ok in public institutions, just not the way its done here in europe with all sorts of s0d0my promoting comics they are giving, thats too graphic and its promoting them to go that way already from that point.

entertainment is definately pushing that agenda hard its very worldly and evil same with social media.

I believe the Church has not done their part over the last 100 years. We stopped evangelizing. We have stopped preaching against sin. We have toned down our message to love. Blah, blah, blah.....

Also, every world war that has occurred, our young men come back from seeing how other cultures live, and they bring that way of living back to the USA. Over time this has crept into our public schools. As a result, God's word and prayer have been eliminated from our schools. Generations go by being taught by anti-God curriculum. Humans are just another animal in the race of evolution.

I think the point of it being a sin concerns the body being a temple of the Holy Spirit. Smoking a cancer causing substance defiles the body. The temple.

So does overeating, so do a lot of things. Are they sin

After the horror of 9/11/01, when the lives of some 4,000 Americans were snuffed out due to Muslim terrorism, two Preachers of my acquaintance were interviewed over Network Television. They were asked why the Lord allowed this to happen to America.

Their answer was most interesting! Both agreed, “It is because of the homosexuals and the abortionists in this nation!”

That is basely incorrect!
I don't think we should attempt to read God's mind when it comes to such detail. It would have been better to just say "it is because of sin" and leave it at that.

gluttony is sin yes. its just not talked about much because europeans and americans are so fat hahaha so its really touching a nerve. everyone is always on a diet but eating a box of ice cream per day. its just lack of self-discipline really we all have it i was overweight too now im skinny fat and im trying to get in shape. but its also very terrible comparison people always make. smoking is not food ok

eating is food. even if its mcdonalds you will still live another day by eating a hamburger. smoking isnt food.

i also want to say before anyone jumps on me. i dont say gluttony is always fat. you can be fat and not be a glutton. some people dont even eat in excess and get fat because they cant or wont exercise at all. its also genetic sometimes. or thyroid issue could be. i think the people i would say are gluttons 100% are those people in my 600 pounds life tv-show. i mean these people manipulate others to feed them to the grave. and thats 100% gluttony no doubt they cant even walk anymore because they are so fat.

i think what bible means by overeating or gluttony is more like some crazy festivals they had where people just drank and ate and vomited and continued to eat like we read about people did in those roman parties during that time and pagans around israel. also they included or*gies and many other evils there. just debauchery or however its worded.

Romans 1:25 King James Version (KJV)

25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

This is the same Ancient story of worship and service to the Creature more than the Creator that is repeated from generation to generation manifested in those that forget Elohim/God.

Phallic architecture

The ancient Greeks and Romans celebrated phallic festivals and built a shrine with an erect phallus to honor Hermes, messenger of the gods. Those figures may be related to the ancient Egyptian deity Min who was depicted holding his erect phallus. Figures of women with a phallus for a head have been found across Greece and Yugoslavia. Phallic symbolism was prevalent in the architectural tradition of ancient Babylon. The Romans, who were deeply superstitious, also often used phallic imagery in their architecture and domestic items. The ancient cultures of many parts of the Far East, including Indonesia, India, Korea and Japan, used the phallus as a symbol of fertility in motifs on their temples and in other areas of everyday life.

Boobies can be a big problem also.
yes. Yes they can........

Biodegradable condoms would kill two birds with one... whatever.
 why are we killing birds?

Getting back to
Ecclesiastes 1:9...…...
Everything we see going on in our world now has been going on since the beginning.....
only now with our modern day tech it spreads MUCH quicker and is more widely accepted.

Matthew 24:37 tells us:
As it was in the days of Noah, so will it be at the coming of the Son of Man.

Every day brings us nearer to our Lords return......
with as bad as we perceive things to be now, has anyone imagined how bad it must have been in the days of Noah?

I don't know any pastor, and trust me I've been in hundreds + churches, that preaches about food addiction being sin. None. In fact any pastor that would dare preach that would be run out of town on a rail. Unless we're willing to call out people who over eat out on their sin addiction, I think we need to back off people who are addicted to smoking. I had a wonderful Christian friend that ran a restaurant. Whenever the stress would get too much he'd go on a bender and my father would go find him and bring him home. Was he a Christian? No doubt in my mind. People can struggle with addictions and still be saved. Christians seem to have their pet sins that they see as wrong, but don't see their own flaws and sins. I don't mean you, I'm talking in general. You want to start WW3 in church, preach on gossip being a sin. See what the outcome of that will be.

@Melach I don't think you went too far off topic. You talked a lot of the evils in this world focused around fornication or adultery...

Thing is... how do we talk to people who call perversion of Gods design "good"....

(anything involving sexual relations outside of one 1 man + 1 woman joined in marriage or involving not raising up a child God has blessed you with)...

this sort typically lie and make excuses when exposed to the truth... even in the most gentle of ways....

I have many lgbt in my family.... they would rather make up stories they know are false to justify actions they love as "good" or "natural"....

Even if THEY asked YOU what the bible SAYS and you quote it....

Gluttony is a sin. One of the seven deadly sins spoken of in scripture.
Why would anyone smoke cigarettes, since that seems to be a touchy subject. Cigarettes destroy the temple of God that we are. Every pack, every cigarette, is the vehicle by which cancer enters into that temple. Jesus died to save us, and we kill ourselves one pack at a time?

The Book of Proverbs chapter 6
16.There are six things that the Lord hates,
seven that are an abomination to him:
17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue,
and hands that shed innocent blood,
18 a heart that devises wicked plans,
feet that make haste to run to evil,
19 a false witness who breathes out lies,
and one who sows discord among brothers.

The Book of Galatians chapter 5
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, 21 envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Yes, we know gluttony is a sin, but ask any Christian what is gluttony. I bet you'll get a reply like, "you know those people who are so big they have to cut down the wall to get them out, that's gluttony." No pastor in his right mind would preach on food addiction as being a sin just before the congregation goes to chow down at their favorite restaurant. I don't smoke, I certainly don't think it's a good thing to do, but I don't know as I'd label it as sin. I don't drink, I don't agree with drinking, but I don't think a person who has a drink has sinned. Now if you drink till you are buzzed, I believe that to be wrong. Just saying, if one thing is a sin we need to call everything out, gossip, food addiction, alcohol etc. and preach on those things too.

We do don't we? Pastors across the country are there to lead the flock as the Shepherd of the word. Can we say they don't preach on those issues?
Anyone can learn what Gluttony is defined as. And no, drinking alcohol isn't a sin however, becoming drunk is. Smoking is a sin because firstly it serves no good purpose for the one who smokes. While its devastating physical effects are well known. And no pastor , nor Christian, would say that the Temple of God that they are has every right under God to foul that holy sanctuary wherein Holy Spirit God doth dwell.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. (Read More...)

Leviticus 19:28
You shall not make any cuts on your body for the dead or tattoo yourselves: I am the Lord.

The root of the matter isn't so much any specific sin, it is that most live here in absolute ignorance of God. Their entire life is in the material world and they are dead to the real world that is here on this earth. Their life begins and ends in this material world and it is inadequate to supply their needs so they use anything it has to offer them to supply those needs like immoral sex, drugs, and such. People who are born again in Christ have resources these people are incapable of knowing anything about. They are like living death.

Except that America's history and founding is grounded in Christian principles and with the Creator named even in our founding documents. While the "Ivy League" of Colleges and Universities were started by Christians.

Sex isn't America's religion. Sin may be rampant in the world today. That does not mean God has been replaced by phallus and sex idolatry.

Immorality is rampant in the church because believers think they can fall and not suffer consequences. I'm not talking losing salvation but paying a severe price for abusing the great liberty we have in Christ.

We see the great price of suffering in broken families and wounded spirits in those who have had first hand experience in the transgression of infidelity. Great shame that is never completely erased from their life.

For the cause of Christ
Roger
Responsibility for all that you rightly observed occurs too when members of the now Apostate Denominations remain aligned with said Denomination, rather than leave because their church turned its back on God.
Following in a so called church that approves and even rewards unrepentant sin and sinners teaches those who seek God in such places as new arrivals, that Christianity has no rules against immoral carnality. It makes the faith itself seem as approving of wordly vices, rather than as a sanctuary against sin itself. One cannot approve sin and preach redemption through Christ.
Well, they can, however, the good Lord knows the heart and those Apostate pastors and boards of elders shall answer for becoming a Satanic church, while debasing the Christ and the Gospel truth.

This isn't new though. People of God have met trials and travails all through history. False churches, false doctrine, Apostasy, anti-Christ teachings, etc...
We're responsible for being vigilant and staying in the truth of God in Christ. That there is a single member in the pew of any Apostate church today is a warning as to what happens when we are not so.

Galations 5
5:13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only [use] not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
5:14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, [even] in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
5:15 But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.
5:16 [This] I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
5:18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

Under the New Way, emphasis was shifted from the outer man towards the inner man.
