Just an update and thought....a nation does not QUARANTINE 50 PLUS MILLION PEOPLE if only a handful have died and only a few thousand are sick!

The problem is not the reported deaths it is the number infected that have yet to show symptoms and are transmitting the disease.
China has never been in a good place to deal with outbreaks unlike other countries where there are processes in place.

Given the long incubation period I think shutting down all none essential travel is imperative otherwise this will go on for a long time and be much harder to control.

You know China gave SARS to the world many of them died, and it was a huge problem where I live...one would think they the Chinese would smarten up with regards to their markets and cleanliness...I find it very frustrating in this day and age when we know so much about the transmission of disease.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. Let's check how they are actually assessing who has the virus, and who doesn't, and how they are confirming those who died actually died of this mysterious virus, and not natural causes. I'm certain you will find the methods used are extremely flawed in the direction of creating public fear. There is more danger from dying of pollution in China, than there is of dying of this alleged, mysterious virus.

A Communist nation does. The USSR is probably the most well-known example. People couldn't leave, and most wanted to.

anytime a population 'eats' = bats=rats=dogs=cats=snakes=swine=sickness,
this is what these Asian people EAT = the spreading of disease.
REMEMBER, (rats and bubonic plague)???
I totally agree. Yet instead of repenting and admitting they've been living filthy lifestyles and eating that which should not be eaten, they blame it on some mysterious disease.

Above said, what I've read of bubonic plague, it seems quite mysterious, in that it is described as popping up in multiple places at once, without chance to really be spread. Like it wasn't a disease so much as some sort of poison in the air, or water, or food, possibly. Or possibly a judgement from God.

This is really not even related.
China and the USSR are/were Communist nations. The USSR banned its people from travelling for no reason - no virus needed. Just because another Communist nation starts locking its people down - even 50 plus million of them - doesn't prove there is a virus, anymore than it proves there was a virus in the USSR. Unless one defines Communism as a virus... Then I'd agree.

First of all, not alleged, not mysterious, that is just silly.

Secondly, of course they can determine if someone has the virus through blood test and respiratory specimen... we are not in the dark ages.

Communism is first and foremost and economic system. Neither Russia or China can be considered communist anymore... what you are referring to is an authoritarian system of government.

Can you prove this claim?

Do you realise that blood tests can give false positives? And that even if you disregard the false positives, a positive result only indicates that someone had the "virus" at one time, not recently? And that even if a positive test result did indicate that you do have the virus and have it now, this still does not guarantee that the person tested will display any symptoms? And do you really believe that blood tests were performed on all the alleged virus victims? I find it more likely that doctors saw the symptoms of the common cold, and declared it to be the mysterious virus. But I'm happy to be proven wrong, if you have the medical records.

China is a Communist system. And I was comparing Communist China today, to Communist USSR of yore. I used the term USSR, to differentiate non-Communist Russia from the Communist Soviet Union.

I am sorry but you claims are too far removed from reality to discuss.
I am thinking you do not know when false positives occur... this is not some obscure disease.

I guess you don't understand with whom the burden of proof rests.

If you don't have the medical records, how do you know that this is not some obscure disease? Or that it is even one disease at all? Or that it is not caused by environmental or dietry factors? China is not one of the cleanest places to live, and as one poster already mentioned, many people in China eat things that were not meant to be eaten.

Have you ever experienced the real world? Do you know how gullible people are? Doctors rarely perform blood tests in the Western world for minor symptoms. This would be all the more true if a doctor feared for his own safety. How much moreso in Communist China?

Is everything one watches on television the truth?

Yes people are gullible.

To state this is all some big fake is just a stretch of huge proportions... I live in a city that where many people were people were under lock down and restricted in their travel and where people died during the SARS outbreak.

Viruses are real, bacteria is real. SARS is real, H1N1 is real, MERS is real, the Coronavirus is real and this particular strain is real.

You're misrepresenting my claim. I'm not saying that people weren't locked down, or travel restricted, or even that people didn't die. I'm saying there is no evidence that those who died did so due to a virus, and in my view, there is therefore no reasonable justification for a lockdown.

Viruses are real, bacteria is real. SARS is real, H1N1 is real, MERS is real, the Coronavirus is real and this particular strain is real.
Can you prove that viruses are real? Either they can't be homogenously isolated (with an electron microscope), or they don't cause the symptoms they are said to cause. Hence, no such thing as viruses, as they are portrayed in the media. Bacteria are real, but I don't believe the media are blaming bacteria for the lockdowns.

???????????????????

uh huh

except that the falling down and convulsing usually indicates this new contrived virus

but you can visit China if you want :cautious:

it is actually the very opposite of what you say regarding creating fear. they wish to quash fear.

but whatever

No evidence?
Do you know the difference between a virus and bacteria?
Of course viruses are real... are you for real?

Also, there is the Fukushima ongoing leak of radiation into the oceans putting all sea life at risk as well as humans who eat it. What about the relentless spraying of the white gaseous substance into the air? I see this going on almost EVERY day as I have a tendency to look up when I pray outside. It's also happening everywhere I have traveled in SoCal as well as in other states and countries that I have noticed on TV. The curious thing about the spraying is that I asked the Major here what it is as we watched it happening, he said 'he'd get back to me' which he didn't.
It's great to know 'The just shall live by faith' but of course we must keep wisdom in the mix. 'No pestilence shall come near our dwelling' in Jesus' name, Amen.
I pray that anyone touched by any of these perils, will turn to God.

You sound like an agent of the Chinese government (and they have a lot of them in the West).

The mayor of Wuhan has stated recently that the government was warned about this outbreak in December. As to the virus itself, you should be aware that China is at war with the West and America. While cyber warfare is one aspect of asymmetric warfare, biological warfare is another aspect. The Communist government of China would have no qualms about sacrificing a few million of their own people to test this virus (if indeed it is in their arsenal). One thing is for sure. The truth about anything will never emerge from China itself.

Mongolia has closed its border to China. Therefore all Western nations had a moral obligation to shut down all flights to and from China when the first reports appeared, and to also properly quarantine people traveling from there. None of that has happened. Now, the West is finally waking up. Always too little and too late.
