Your last statement contrasts everything you said before it. The average Amish person probably knew who Michael Jackson was, where as they wouldn't have a clue as to who Farrah was. Understandably, the media would focus more on MJ. Their goal is to make money, so they have to go after stories viewers want to see.
We all understand WHY they focused on Kobe, MJ, and such. We know WHY. What we are showing is how wrong it is.............

The reason for bringing it up is to show how people hold human beings in a much higher regard than they do Jesus Christ. As for non believers, I didn't make that distinction, you did.........sooooo

And, as I was pointing out the failure of the Media in such things, it certainly does reveal their true nature. Something all should know.
So if the "people" who hold other human beings in high regarded over the Savior wasn't directed towards non-believers, are you implying that believers don't really feel bad about their Savior being crucified? If so, then I misunderstood you and I apologize. It just definitely reads, to me, that you are speaking of non-believers as it's the non-believers who wouldn't care about the murder of our Savior.

Why is it wrong for the media to focus on Kobe? Today's media aren't about delivering objective news. Fox News, CNN, etc... aren't journalistic news networks... they are there to make money. They get higher ratings by having biased hot-takes on political matters and focusing heavily on events like Kobe dying because viewers will watch.

I consider the media to be immoral entities but reporting on someone's death is pretty amoral.

What's wrong is how people try to minimize a simple news report about an athlete and his daughter, and his daughters friends and their parents, and a coach, experiencing sheer terror on a very fogy day as the helicopter they were flying in crashed into a hill.
The loss, the grief, the sudden destruction of the plans countless lives had as a family together now made vapor amid blood, guts, shattered bone, glass, steel, grass, and mud. No open caskets.

The second tragedy is presuming these poor people didn't know Jesus.
When the important question is, do you? If so, then maybe prove it by showing compassion, not everything else and including the self-righteous hubris that deems to minimize the tragic loss with judgment of the dead. Guess what? They can't hear you now. Your opinion of them doesn't matter. But they're dead! And compassion for young lives cut short should be enough. Not coupling judgment against a basketball player who committed his monies and time to do good for others in this world. He died with his 13 year old daughter in this crash. And other children died too.

How about show compassion for just that? Rather than soap box your personal opinions of Kobe Bryant.

For who's priority is to ask if Kobe was saved, rather than show respect for the loss of a beloved father and all nine victims? How much time would it have taken to look this up?

Uh oh, he was Catholic. Now comes the judgment about that? Kobe and his daughter prayed at his church before this flight that would be his last.
God rest the souls and have mercy. And God's peace and strength be with all who grieve.
Nine people perished in this crash. Nine! How many lives living are now changed forever for the loss of these people their family were certain they'd see again?
