Alright, a lot of us on here see someone of the opposite sex on here and think they're a bit too good-looking or their photo is a bit too professional looking and we wonder, "is that person for real?" There is now a website called TinEye.com that you enables you to search through billions of images in a matter of seconds to see where that particular photo is. TinEye works by compiling a database of images from across the web and assigning a certain pixel signature to each image. TinEye gives you two options for cross-checking images: 1.) copy and paste the image's URL into the search box (you can find the image URL by right clicking the pic and selecting "copy image URL") or 2.) uploading an image from your hard drive. Once you hit search, it only takes a few seconds for it to find that particular image. If no results come back, then it's likely that person is who they say they are (TinEye will not search through things like facebook, myspace, bebo, etc due to privacy filters.) But if you see the results and they're on websites for "meeting beautiful Russian women" then you know to back off. It's a pretty handy tool when meeting people.

There is a movie called Swordfish that is a real eye-opener for internet website dating. Be sure to bring everything and every one across God's eyes in your life and He will sort through it all, just be sure to do this with reverence, patience, and, actively praying and asking to find out what He wants you to find. Getting to know someone time is a perfect time to draw closer to God and strengthen your relationship with Him.

I don't like that technology. That means they might be cataloging all of my pics on Flickr that are of my family and that makes me feel like they are intruding on my privacy. Cataloging url's is one thing, but giving each pic a digital signature does not sit well with me. It almost sounds like fingerprinting, and I don't want my family's pictures that I took for private viewing to be fingerprinted and stored by some program. I really don't like this.

I'm still not convinced about the Internet dating thing either, GreenNnice. I have met people from online, but only after knowing them for extended periods of time. A couple were nice guys, the others...not so much. I feel much safer dating people I see on a daily basis. But, spending time in CC keeps me from going places I probably shouldn't to meet others and has probably kept me out of more trouble than I'll ever know. :)

Taking time to get to know someone while watching how they interact with others online can be very telling. I suppose that's why I'm usually only comfortable PMing with someone I've gotten to know in the main chatrooms, Bible studies, etc. ESPECIALLY the Bible studies. Tells me a lot about where their heart/attention is.

I think the TinEye thing is really cool because I love Internet technology. But, I'm rarely interested in someone because of their looks. And I'd sure hate to think that was the main reason someone was attracted to me. :( I suppose that's why I rarely put pics up and tend to put up some goofy or faith-based avatars. I think it's fun to get to know people BEFORE I know what they look like. I think we can pass by some fantastic people otherwise. :)

You do have a point, zero. I have posted a photo of my son from time to time, but take it down immediately. And when I do post pics of myself, I try to crop out friends/family so as not to invade their privacy. I don't know if the TinEye thing would pull up the entire photo or not if the other people in the pic had posted it somewhere.

I was looking at some programs online that would allow colorizing, etc, but I didn't like the idea that my photos would be retained by that site for anyone to look at. Seems like that would allow other people to use your photos...and what if they were using them on some really creepy site...ugh.

Well at least I don't have to worry about them putting me or my family on some creepy site since good looks doesn't seem to run in ours. Taking them down quickly is a great idea! I never thought of that. I'm going to start doing that, thanks Julianna!!

Did I ever tell you that I love your name? Seriously.

ZeroTurbulence, TinEye can't search through your photos if you have a privacy filter on your account, so if you do or can enable such a filter, your photos are safe.

oh wow thank you for this info...I always come across certain people in cc (be in men or women) whom I thought (by looking at the picture) are just too good to be true...

Thanks! Thats good to know. The only problem with that is that if I want my family to see the photos they'll have to use a password.

Of course this isn't fool proof. A nefarious enough person, aware of said technology, could simply upload a picture they want you to believe is them, tag it with such and such name they want you to think is them, and then eventually even that gets put in the tineye system, rendering the system kinda umm..not 100% trustworthy or reliable.

Or a nefarious enough person could upload any picture, tag it as someone else not even related to the picture, making said results false. I could upload a picture of Bieber, tag it as being Steven Tyler and yeah. I know this example is so outrageous that it would be noticed by all, but for the lesser known peeps, well it wouldn't be.

Aww...thanks. But, I have to fess up, especially since this is a truth in CC thread. LOL This is just a chat name. It's not my real name. I chose it for CC because I love its meaning (sent from God). I've always hoped to have a daughter I could bless with this name, but that hasn't happened yet. :)

I just searched all of your pictures. You have exactly 24 hours to turn yourself in. Especially you, Julianna. I knew I'd seen that red afro and bushy brows somewhere else before.

I don't need a TinEye, I have God's eyes watching over me from His Holy Spirit's very close distance and He will tell me who is true and who is foo' when I pray and ask Him if person I think is to good is true or not.
That is called acknowledging Him and letting Him lead my paths through all falsity and truthfulness because my God IS the God of truth. He will be with you through all times , not just 'all time.' Psalms 23 and Proverbs 3: 4,5,6 .

I've encountered fake people here and the only advice I can give you all is to listen to your instinct and if you have doubts about someone being themselves don't shy away to ask them to show up on cam, if they say they don't have one, just insist or cut off contact!
