well almost all those theology books were gathering dust on the shelves.
I just think they are too heavy for people. As most people already have a copy of the Bible, scripture ought to be their go-to first,
The more popular books are biographies, prayers and devotionals, christian living, missions and evenagelism, and family and marriage. Even with them I will weed out the outdated and yellowing copies.
when I go to a christian bookshop, its the practical books or true life stories that appeal to me, not the abstract. There isnt even a theology section there, or of there is, it isnt obvious. To find one you need to go to your nearest ivory tower actually. They do cost a bundle as well and are used as text books but only if you are studying the finer points of an age old tired debate like 'do humans have free will?' zzzzz

The longest I have made it was 19 days...but I was going to give 40 days...i was doing fine...14 days in I was told clearly I was getting my request...but I got attacked and ate...i have done a fair amount of fasting...but less lately...i take medicine and going without is not best...i still do some...but not as much as I did before I just wore out...i still pray lots and now I read and teach more for its my calling...but I do a lot of one on one...working to get people clean...but when I train others they really just don't care to love others as they should...they get there pay check from their denomination...so it is difficult to let go and just learn exactly what the Word really says...but I do make headway
Free will and choice we have and for most taking the narrow road is not what they want...and that then is there choice...but there debt was paid...they may not walk thru the door of Christ even though Christians try to offer the Way...the TRUTH OF ALL THIS IS KNOW AND IT IS NOT ALL THE WAYS...TO MAKE A MISTAKE FOR A WHILE US ONE THING...but if I said it's Soul sleep and limited Atonement and the earth is flat and it's post trib...to stack that many things and fight those positions one might think people not saved...THE TRUTH OF ALL 31,102 VERSES IS AND NOTHING ANYONE BELIEVES WILL CHANGE GOD OR THE TRUTH...IT TAKES THE TRUTH TO BE SET FREE AND MY WORD IS TRUTH...HEAVEN IS NOT PAVED WITH LIES...BUT SOME ERROR CAN BE HAD
David pls...i once had a friend who told my John the Baptist did not have free will because he had the Holy Spirit from the womb...and a well meaning pastor tell me that angels don't have free will because they are sinless...such things as these are heresy...the same pastor said we had 3 God's...but the Bible is clear we have One God...and we have Father Son and Spirit...these 3 are ONE...1 John 5 7-8
When the pastor argued with me...he found himself with his face in the toilet throwing up and a week in bed...without work...nothing I could say to him would he listen...why are people so stubborn...the truth from God's Word is there on each issue we are discussing today...yet why do people resist the truth of God's Word clearly said....pride...people who do not know God's Word argue when they should be listening and learning

What's wrong with yellowed books? I love the smell.
It's when they start getting mold spots that we have a problem.
Do you work at a local library? My experience has been libraries are for resources. A librarian being one of these resources. It would be enough to be able to point someone to where they could find them even if your library didn't have them. If it's state run, you'd run into issues obviously. now that I'm well rested, this is even harder to post about lol. I can't make any recommendations. I've appreciated Charles Spurgeon on certain topics but I couldn't tell you which ones. It's something like artists or bands for me. I recall the song and the lyrics but rarely who it's by. I don't think names matter as much as whether or not I trust whether they are believers, and I see a reasonable return for the time invested. If I need to know their name at some point, I will. HIS name is all that really matters right now...I'd probably anonymously write things if I ever did for that reason. If it points you closer to the Lord, awesome! If it gets you focusing on what "He or she" says then we may have a problem.
I think learning about the Lord is common, but on a scholarly level from a random DIY person...it is unlikely that you would come across them often enough for the shelf space.
Do you all have a CD library for pastors? Seems like that could be of use to someone.
Like, there are libraries around here that I could check out an instrument, and even some in the state where I can use a green screen. Both would cost me quite a bit of gas/wear and tear...but not much else.
Oh, I saw a seed display at the library near here and I asked what it was. Apparently it's a seed check out program. You check out the seeds and return the seeds when they yield more and return them. Pretty neat, and there were even a few returns.

sorry Im a qualified Librarian so..yes I can tell when a book has gone mouldy and hasnt been read in years.
If they really want theology books there is the nearest ivory tower as I have said. I have worked in ivory tower libraries before.
Generally pastors will have their own copies of theology textbooks on their own bookshelves and dont feel the need to share them with others. But they might try to pass off a few to their classmates. Nobody has ever specifically asked for them, only if they are required reading at said ivory towers.

A church friend of mine daughter married a guy who is a theologian and I said well thats interesting but she confessed that she didnt not understand a single word of his theology. He works as a professor or lecturer at an ivory tower.
