Hear if you have ears to Hear, Understand if you have hearts of babes, I will try and interpret through the grace of the Holy Spirit:

Isaiah 29:9-16 (New King James Version)

The Blindness of Disobedience (to all sinners)

9 Pause and wonder!
Blind yourselves and be blind!
They are drunk, but not with wine;
They stagger, but not with intoxicating drink
. (those who eat and drink of the false doctrines of false prophets, demons)
10 For the LORD has poured out on you
The spirit of deep sleep,
And has closed your eyes, namely, the prophets;
And He has covered your heads, namely, the seers. (why people do not believe in modern day prophecy)

11 The whole vision has become to you like the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one who is literate, saying, “Read this, please.”
And he says, “I cannot, for it is sealed.” (false prophet, corrupted)
12 Then the book is delivered to one who is illiterate, saying, “Read this, please.”
And he says, “I am not literate.” (true believer, doesn't believe in the gift of prophecy or has not prayed for the discernment to read)

13 Therefore the Lord said:
“ Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths
And honor Me with their lips,
But have removed their hearts far from Me,
And their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men, (Hypocrites, biblical scholars and scribe who wish to show their "understanding" and speak on through or with the promoting of the Holy Spirit but on their own false merit, thus causing the body of Christ to be further divided and blind)

14 Therefore, behold, I will again do a marvelous work
Among this people,
A marvelous work and a wonder;
For the wisdom of their wise men shall perish,
And the understanding of their prudent men shall be hidden.” Watch and see what God has in store.
15 Woe to those who seek deep to hide their counsel far from the LORD,
And their works are in the dark;
They say, “Who sees us?” and, “Who knows us?” For the atheist and deceivers out there, it horrible to lie especially to yourself
16 Surely you have things turned around!
Shall the potter be esteemed as the clay;
For shall the thing made say of him who made it,

“ He did not make me”?
Or shall the thing formed say of him who formed it,

“ He has no understanding”?

Any question?

You should pray to God for the answers.

no Oncemore, not all the prophets "met God" in person, actually NONE of them ever saw His face. Sometimes the HOLY SPIRIT works by the indwelling of the prophet and through dreams and visions.

MOSES saw God's back and that was ALL.:

Here are some examples of prophets who didn't:

From Zondervan Handbook to the Bible

"
Painting the portrait of a typical Old Testament prophet would be very difficult indeed. Who would one choose as typical?

All Sorts

Would it be a trained professional prophet who began as an apprentice and worked his way up to be the leader of a prophetic group---like Elisha (1 kings 19: 21; 2, Kings 4:38)? Or would you choose an independent prophet with no real training like Amos (Amos 7:14)?

It could be a prophet who worked within court circles, acting as a key adviser to the government, Like Isaiah (2 Kings 19: 1-6; 20; 1-21) or one who was often seen as a direct enemy of the state like Jeremiah (Jeremiah 20:2, 32:3; 26:26)

some prophets used music to help them in their work (exodus 15: 20-21; 1 samuel 10:5, 2 kings 3:15) some used very strange pictures or dramatic presentations, whereas others seemed to find straightforward every day speech was enough to help them get their message across.

some were lifelong prophets, others apparently worked as a prophet for a fairly short period of time. they all told of the same God and described the same responsiblities that are given to those who want to maintain a relationship with GOD, but they are very different people, who present their message in very different ways.

There is no such thing as a typical prophet.

Women as well as men: Isaiah's wife (Isaiah 8:3), Miriam (Exodus 15:20) Deborah (Judges 4:4) Huldah (2 kings 22:14) Noadiah (Nehemiah 6:14)

New Testament

Agabus (acts 21: 10) Philip's daughters (Acts 21: 9)

and Today?"

I apologies for taking so long to answer you, but God speaks to me in various ways. most often in a soft voice and through the Bible and in dreams and visions.

I hope that helps, please ask any questions you may have. though I suggest you read the BIBLE for yourself and Pray to GOD for understanding
