Are you one of those people who has their lives all planned out a certain way? Do you fly by the seat of your pants? Somewhere in between?

I hate planning. I cant stand being locked down into one thing. I just want to be able to go and do as i please.

I like planning to be at places earlier than I have to be. On the other hand, I can't stand having to have a plan for what I'm going to have for dinner for one day or many days in advance. I figure if I'm hungry, I'll make something.

I don't micromanage my day to day life, but I do have certain goals and plans for my life. I could care less about when the laundry is supposed to be done, but I do know that I want to have a steady job pertaining to my University degree by the time I am 22.

I have my life all planned out. Its a really good life, but it is not at all going that way. So I guess I have my real life and my fantasy world where I live about 30 mins a day.

I used to make plans and try to plan out my life then I realized God had a much greater plan. Now I just live life 1 day at a time, this way I can walk with God, and follow Him, and I am not trying to walk ahead or fall behind, but follow His plan daily for my life whatever that may be. :)

I by no means have my life planned out. I just go by God's leading. I think if you plan out your life (like marriage, kids, school, moving, etc) and never have any spontaneity or unplanned events, you're heading for one really boring and predictable life. God is unpredictable. The best thing to do is follow Him. John Lennon said: "Life is what happens when you're busy making other plans." Though The Beatles shouldn't be taken as Scripture, I think he has a point there.

Definitely somewhere in between.

I like structure, and structure ussually requires some sort of general plan to keep chaos at bay....but that in no way does not mean I am not spontaneous etc.

BUT, at this stage of my life....structure is my friend. :)

Balance is important in my life. I'm a very organized, responsible person, but I fully intend to slide into the grave sideways. I don't mean in a foolish way, but to simply not live in fear of the unknown. I want to cherish every breath and have as few regrets as possible.

I think that most of the time I am in between. There are some things in my life that have to be planned, but there are other things that are just random. I think if you planned everything in your life out it would be reallllly boring.

This made me laugh! It's interesting to see how everyone has responded.
When I read the initial question I was thinking how frequently God changed my plans... It's getting to the point where I am trying to learn to see what He will bring into my day and just praying for the strength and grace to get through it in a way that will glorify Him. I am NOT good at not having a plan. But it seems to be what He's bringing me through at this point in my life, and I'll admit it's a good lesson in trusting Him to take care of everything. It takes a lot of prayer to keep my mind focused on God and being anxious for nothing!

It's hard to not plan some of the basics, but in the long term, I have been turning it over...He only knows what the future holds

I think that it is impotartant to plan but still be flexible. When you plan it is like setting small daily goals which help guide you thru life. But at the same time you have to be ready to accept that something may alter that plan or prolong the original outcome.

Example: I went to college to become an elementary school teacher, Birth - 6th grade general educationn is my certification. However, when I went looking for a job I ended up teaching Art K-6. Since then I have discovered art talents I did'nt know I had. If I hadn't had a plan to get thru college and be a teacher then maybe I would have never realized these things about myself. God sometimes takes you to unexpected places but if you just sit around without any sort of plan in your life you may not develop those gifts/talents/skills in order to get to where He wants you.

I have short-term goals, medium-term goals , and long-term, too, all given by me to God. I planned my life out one fateful evening that let me know that God is a jealous God who wantsso dearly to be in my life. In fact, when that day went wrong, it taught me to plan Him into EVERYTHING I plan to do in lge. That is the secret to planning out your life, God-inclusion :-)
