Reading the last few paragraphs of Daniel Chapter 4, we see that Kind Nebuchadnezzar had his mind and Kingdom restored after his losing his mind. Did the King repent? Was he favored by God? Did he go the place of Righteousness after his death?

33 Immediately what had been said about Nebuchadnezzar was fulfilled. He was driven away from people and ate grass like the ox. His body was drenched with the dew of heaven until his hair grew like the feathers of an eagle and his nails like the claws of a bird.

34 At the end of that time, I, Nebuchadnezzar, raised my eyes toward heaven, and my sanity was restored. Then I praised the Most High; I honored and glorified him who lives forever.
His dominion is an eternal dominion;
his kingdom endures from generation to generation.
35 All the peoples of the earth
are regarded as nothing.
He does as he pleases
with the powers of heaven
and the peoples of the earth.
No one can hold back his hand
or say to him: “What have you done?”

36 At the same time that my sanity was restored, my honor and splendor were returned to me for the glory of my kingdom. My advisers and nobles sought me out, and I was restored to my throne and became even greater than before. 37 Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and exalt and glorify the King of heaven, because everything he does is right and all his ways are just. And those who walk in pride he is able to humble.

I need more study on Nebuchadnezzar's track record after God restored his sanity. But I think it was a religious experience that left his heart unchanged. Like those you see at funerals who repent and "get religion" for awhile.

I was kind of the under the same impression, but God did restore his Kingdom. This passage has always made me wonder.

It sure looks to me like King Nebuchadnezzar repented :)

The God King as we have come to know him by the scriptures was confronted by the real God. I find totally possible that He was redeemed by his encounter

I'm going through Daniel now and it's not an easy walk. I'm using Sinclair Ferguson's commentary but I think it will take a longer study to get where I need to be.

Daniel is difficult at times to read. I’m interested in your findings.

if one comes into an encounter with The Living God, and one feels' The Power of This Eternal Being',
and does 'not want to please Him', - they would be a real (real nincompoop) =:):)

It takes a new heart, sight belief won't do it.

By scripture alone I would say he did repent. After all God could of kept him out in the field eating grass. This was a God supernatural action on Nebuchadnezzar just as with Paul on the road of Damascus. The whole purpose of these incidents was to change the heart of the individual and to open their eyes to the one true God.

Based upon the three statements by Nebuchadnezzar, I fully believe that he acknowledge the one true God of heaven by faith........and lest we forget about Cyrus as well....he was called the servant of GOD and wrote the decree that allowed the Jews to return unto their own land.....

i don't know why his praising God would be included in scripture if it wasn't genuine.

I agree and the verbiage is clear.....in the end he acknowledge the God of Daniel as the one true God of heaven and the quote you were replying to is ridiculously ignorant.......

Many did in the NT also. But Jesus did not commit himself to them.
“Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did. But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.” John 2:23–25 (KJV 1900)

Nebuchadnezzer believed in the name of the God of Daniel when He saved Him from the furnace. When God took away Nebuchadnezzer's mind, and then restored him, he believed in God Himself, not just His name. The text so far as I am aware doesn't give me reason to believe otherwise.

Many believe superficially based on sight. Jesus did not commit himself to these. It takes the new birth to believe in faith.

That particular passage has always left me wondering. As far as I’m aware there isn’t really historical evidence of his actions as King after this revelation. Could it be he became one of the faithful? I really don’t know.

I don't understand what part of his testimony leads you to think itis superficial. At the fiery furnace, sure.
