Agree. And I prefer modern English. Try and evangelize to a teenager or millennial using the Kjv and that just makes the message even harder to get across.
I do every day of my life without any problems. I love explaining how Jesus was not merely God’s one and only Son. There are many sons of God in scripture. Jesus was God’s only begotten Son. Huge difference.

This “horrible translation” led the largest revival in history. This “horrible translation” is the most attacked book in history.

Before bashing God’s word, you should learn how the English language really works.
I don’t think it’s a horrible translation of that verse, something I have read on it below

There is a play on the words “almond branch” and “watching over” in verses 11 and 12. Both sound similar in Hebrew. The almond or “awake” tree that announced the arrival of spring would serve as a sign to Jeremiah that God was watching over his word (promises) of both judgment and salvation to bring them about at the appointed time.

Does it contain Matthew 18:11?
Yes it does in the footnotes. And the verse is nothing that isnt already said throughout scripture. The point is some manuscripts have and some didn't, so some versions put it in the footnotes.

If you research the major proponents of KJV Onlyism, you will find out they are weird characters.

Steven Anderson says gay people are all child molesters and should shoot themselves in the head. He doesn't want them to repent, because according to them, they cannot.

Kent Hovind is a jail bird who spent time in prison and still denies his guilt.

Peter Ruckman is a special kind of weird, and claims that the CIA operates alien breeding factories, and has implanted brain transmitters into the minds of black people and the elderly and children...as if their parents would never notice the surgical scars :)

Gail Riplinger is a charismatic who claims God revealed some weird mathematical formula to her, proving that the NIV was sinful.

Sam Gump also has weird ideas.

It's pretty funny that these KJV Onlyists have been attacking each other lately for weirdness..like Steven Anderson attacking Gene Kim.

Check this out..pretty funny:

Back to personal perspective and experience. My experience in evangelism doesn't do well when the audience has to trip over old English. Especially when translated to modern English doesn't harm anything.

Are footnotes scripture? And I’m pretty sure Scripture says several times not to add to or take away from the word of God. Either the KJV is adding to or the new versions are taking away.

Does it contain Matthew 18:11?
Do the oldest and most reliable manuscripts contain Matthew 18:11?

Posting so-called "proof-text" arguments is silly, especially when you have demonstrated that you are incapable of using the same measures with the KJV that you use for other translations.

Can you give an example of scripture, when evangelizing, that is difficult in the KJV? Thanks.

The man's name is Sam Gipp.

There are both wise men (and women) and fools on both sides of this debate. Let's not use fallacious arguments to try to prove anything.

Using the phrase, “oldest and most reliable” doesn’t fool anyone.

Yes so how do you know if the verse should be added or taken out? This comes from the modern discoveries of new manuscripts and fragments where not all include that verse.

So to be intellectually honest the NIV includes it in the footnotes. Even without the verse, those same words are found in Luke.
