I’m not quite home yet.
Many miles I have walked
Looked to the horizon I have
Angst my heart feels for the long journey
Sore and blistered my feet beckon for rest
Parched my throat calls for droplets
Eyes weary from the strain
Hurt my legs from the march
Head lowered from heaviness
Almost there I cry to myself
Just a few more miles before my arrival
I see my Father stand with a smile
I see my Lord waving me in
Almost there I laugh to myself
Almost there, almost home.

Very Beautiful, When I read this made me thank of a song I sung in church as a Kid. Not sure of the song but I thank it was called I Feel Like Traveling On.
  1. My heav’nly home is bright and fair,
    I feel like traveling on;
    Nor pain nor death can enter there,
    I feel like traveling on.
    • Refrain:
      Yes, I feel like traveling on,
      I feel like traveling on;
      My heav’nly home is bright and fair,
      I feel like traveling on.
  2. Its glitt’ring tow’rs the sun outshine,
    I feel like traveling on;
    That heav’nly mansion shall be mine,
    I feel like traveling on.
  3. Let others seek a home below,
    I feel like traveling on;
    Which flames devour, or waves o’erflow,
    I feel like traveling on.
  4. The Lord has been so good to me,
    I feel like traveling on;
    Until that blessed home I see,
    I feel like traveling on.

This song has been sung at my church too. May we keep traveling on and finish our race with endurance!

The line that says, "I see my Father stand with a smile," reminds me of when Stephen was being martyred and he got a glimpse into heaven. Wow! Jesus stood for him.

"and he said, “Behold, I see the heavens opened up and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.” Acts 7:56

It’s truly amazing that we are separated by decades, centuries, millenniums, we all strive for the same thing, to be in our real home.
