The Gift of the Holy Spirit
I. given directly to all believers then and now for all time
II. Included the Baptism of the Holy Spirit for some during the first century
A. Given directly to the 12 Apostles
1. They spoke in tongues, prophesied and performed signs and wonders in Acts

b. He worked signs and wonders

John the baptist said one coming after him would baptize with the Holy Ghost. He was not referring to the 12 apostles. The Bible does not say that the apostles gave Philip the Holy Spirit or the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.

ALL believers are "sealed" with the Holy Spirit when they receive the Body and Blood of Yeshua/Jesus and are saved. However, the baptism with the Holy Spirit is different.

Next, is the "baptism" with the Holy Spirit which is the first time we are "filled" with the Holy Spirit and become the Temple of the Holy Spirit being indwelt.

Lastly, we are to be "continually filled" with the Holy Spirit by reading and meditating on scriptures of God's Word the Bible, praying, singing songs in our hearts to God, worshiping God in Spirit and in Truth, enjoying fellowship with other believers, etc..

After Solomon built the Temple and the Ark of the Covenant was placed in the Holy of Holies and the priests were leaving the Temple, God filled the Temple with His Glory Cloud. The same happens to us. We are sealed when we are saved and set apart and dedicated for God's purposes, but God filling His Temple (us) is the "Baptism" with the Holy Spirit.

1 Kings 8:10-11 King James Version (KJV)
10 And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of the Lord,

11 So that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud: for the glory of the Lord had filled the house of the Lord.

If we neglect the Gift of the Holy Spirit within us, or defile our bodies which are the temple of the Holy Spirit, it grieves the Holy Spirit and our flesh gets stronger and we backslide. The Holy Spirit never leaves us, we need to learn to walk by the Spirit so we do not fulfill the lusts of the flesh.

Not exactly correct. Every believer is baptized into the body of Christ. We are sealed by that baptism. We are quickened unto eternal life by the Holy Spirit. Eph 2:1.

The filling of the Holy Spirit should be seen as the foot washing Jesus performed on His disciples. Washing the feet to permit service to Christ.

Not exactly correct.

Every believer is sealed with the Holy Spirit, but not baptized until the Holy Spirit indwells us - fills us just like Solomon's Temple.

No it's a charismatic Pentecostal doctrinal error. The Holy Spirit indwells the moment a soul receives Christ as Savior. One baptism with many fillings for service. Pentecostalism has greatly erred in this matter. The creation of a second baptism is man made doctrine and not biblical.

Nope.

Not everyone in the Bible received the baptism with the Holy Spirit the moment they believed. They did get sealed with the Holy Spirit, but not baptized. It was later when Paul asked if they had received the baptism of the Holy Spirit since they believed.

It's not man-made. It's biblical. John the Baptist baptized in water, but Yeshua/Jesus baptizes us with the Holy Spirit and Fire.

Yes everyone received the baptism of the Holy Spirit the moment they believed on Christ. The Holy Spirit quickens the lost soul the moment one believes in Christ. One is not saved until they are baptized by the Holy Spirit. Not all spoke in tongues but all were baptized in the Holy Spirit the instant they received Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. It’s NOT false and I NEVER mentioned tongues.

Perhaps you also should go back to the scriptures and read for understanding every time the Holy Spirit is mentioned.

I actually do NOT completely agree with OP.

I was addressing the OP, not your post. Well take a look at another verse where the Holy Spirit is mentioned but nothing about tongues:

And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the Word of God with boldness. (Acts 4:31).

Thank you, I take that as one of the biggest compliments ever .. I have that reputation among family, friends, and coworkers .. I actually am very tenderhearted and have to put on tuffness sometimes or I'd spend all my time weeping .. I also have discernment from the Lord to know everything is important but not every thing is expedient .. God Bless

How does Barnabas fit into this scheme?

"So Paul and Barnabas spent considerable time there, speaking boldly for the Lord, who confirmed the message of his grace by enabling them to perform signs and wonders" (Acts 14:3).

Notice scripture says the Apostles laid hands on Phillip and he from then on worked signs and wonders. Based on that, we can assume Paul did the same for Barnabas. As well as the Corinthians. But notice Phillip could not do the same for the Samarians. Only the Apostles could give them the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.

The gift of the Holy Spirit is for all believers. The Baptism was only for the 12 Apostles to confirm their apostleship. Later Paul received it as a sign of his apostleship. Where does it say the 3000 spoke in tongues?
