Is the serpent referenced in Genesis Satan? Is there evidence for this?

simple.

in Genesis 3:14-15

now it's your job to figure out why this is the answer.

The KJV is not as clear concerning this as the Hebrew:

14 And the Lord God said to the serpent, "Because you have done this, cursed be you more than all the cattle and more than all the beasts of the field; you shall walk on your belly, and you shall eat dust all the days of your life.

15 And I shall place hatred between you and between the woman, and between your seed and between her seed. He will crush your head, and you will bite his heel."

Buffy, since this is your thread, do you have any more questions concerning the "Title" or anything else in relationship to what the Bible reveals?

Paul was from Tarsus, was he not?
Paul is the same person as Saul, and he was from Tarsus.

Some think Paul's name was changed after his conversion experience to signify a new beginning, but it was common practice for a Jew to use his Hebrew/Aramaic name when addressing Jews, and to use the Roman name when addressing Gentiles.

And, often the Roman name was chosen so it sounded like the Hebrew name.

I resist mentioning this, because I know some self-proclaimed Bible expert is going to challenge me on it, but oh well :)

Some individuals in Scripture received a new name meaning something had changed in their character, but in this case, Paul/Saul is not the same situation. But this has been repeated so much in the Church that some will stick to this view no matter what.

It's like the tale that shepherds broke the legs of sheep to cause them to stay close to them. This sermon tale likely came from the practice of shepherds tying a stone to the sheep's leg to slow him down and keep him from running off. This was called "braking" the leg..applying a hindrance to movement. Someone throughout time gets this story confused and claims that shepherds literally broke the leg so the sheep had to be carried until it healed. It doesn't take too much to figure out this isn't true, because a shepherd couldn't walk around carrying all the sheep that would not stay with the flock.

Again, though, if you challenge these things some trusted pastor told them, you will get attacked for it :D

Here's an article on the Paul/Saul claim:
