How important is this issue?

If one believes only the bible, and only the testimony of men, without ever receiving the Spirit of God, without ever coming to know God, they are not saved.

How does one come to believe "only" the bible without the indwelling of God's Holy Spirit ? Tell me....Can we still be saved by God's precious grace through Christ's death on the cross and have ourselves counted as righteous through our faith and that NOT of works..... and still NOT believe that YOU are God's prophet who hears directly from Jesus Christ Himself ? Is "receiving the Spirit of God" the equivalent to believing VW's "prophecies" ? Do those who reject your testimony about yourself also reject Christ's testimony about Himself and His perfect and complete sacrifice for mankind for all time ? If Christ truly does speak through you VW, what other answer could one logically expect but for you to answer in the affirmative ? Disbelieving you and your words is one and the same as disbelieving Christ (according to you).....because you speak not your own words but HIS,....correct ? Therefore, to reject VW is to reject Christ Himself......much the same that those who rejected the prophets of old rejected God Himself. I can say with utmost confidence that you are indeed, a false prophet !




Eternal life is knowing God, who is the One True God, and His Son whom He sent.

Eternal life is given us by trusting God through Christ's sacrifice. Try it sometime. None of us will know Him in His fullness until our appointed time.

They are not ordained by Christ, since our foundation has already been laid.

There is an erroneous belief that every word of God is contained in the bible. What, you do not believe this? Then how can the reasoning which says that there cannot be prophecy because the bible is finished hold up under scrutiny? Every belief we have has an end result, every single one. If we believe that the bible is the final, finished and complete revelation of God, then we also believe that it contains all of the knowledge of God, along with every word He has spoken. For the belief says that there is no prophecy, because the bible is finished.

And yet, even in scripture we see that if all the words of Jesus, and all of His deeds, were written down, that there would not be enough room in the whole world to contain them. The Bible consists of 76 books. Not just 66, as according to the Westminster Confession

of Faith. Of 1647 AD. That is a heretical, Calvinistic confession, which teaches the heresy

of double predestination. The Bible originally contained more books than the Protestants

Good words Ananda. I don't claim to be a prophet, but I have had enough of this argument. VW says things, then when he is called to task for them, he denies ever saying them, or that he was misinterpreted. We have been around in these circles too many times. There is nothing to be gained from it.

My only concern is that others will stumble. I have seen more and more in here, people challenging the bible's authority. This all began, at least in my experience, when he started a thread about people idolizing their bibles. I have met a lot of Christians in my day, and I have never yet met one who "idolized" their bible. Most Christians recognize it's authority as representing the authority of God Himself, with no inherent authority on it's own. With all the problems in the world, all of the billions of people who have not heard the good news, all the lost and lonely people with no hope, that this "prophet" should be worried about people reading their bibles too much, is beyond ridiculous. I would think that a true prophet would encourage people to read their bibles. When I am reading my bible, Holy Spirit speaks to my heart, that is what being immersed in the word means VW.

Anyone who has the gift of prophecy, or has been called as a prophet, will understand when I say that I did not want to make this post. But the voice of the Lord is not insistent, but rather quietly leading one to do as He wishes. I have from the Lord that I am not to answer critical words any more. So, in obedience to Him, hear these words or not.

Modern day prophets? People that claim to be prophets are often false prophets.
But Scripture says, if any man speak, it should be like he speaks (of) the oracles of God.
Our words should be influenced by the Holy Spirit, we must be filled by the Holy Spirit, to rightly live in the tradition of the Church and the truth of the Word of God, the Bible.
We need to experience the Scriptures as they are read and quoted in the Divine Liturgy.
The NT does indicate there are prophets in the NT era. But who prophets today might be, I can only say that the hierarchy of the Orthodox Church has a prophetic ministry, as they preach the same faith of the Apostles (St. Jude 3).
What do you mean by the "spirit" of this thread? Which thread (which post of which person), are you talking about. I don't support the statements of most of the people
who write to Christian Chat. I only agree with Cleante, Zossima, and any other Orthodox Christians who write to this site.

Like I said I didn't understand why VW was feeling persecuted for saying he was a prophet, so I did an experiment. Its just words, GOD sees our HEARTS.

do you make a difference between the gift of prophecy and being a prophet? I thought they were the same.

In the Bible it says that King Saul was numbered among the prophets when the Holy Spirit was upon him but he was NOT a prophet ALL the time. So I didn't know there was a difference.

1 Samuel 10:11
And it happened, when all who knew him formerly saw that he indeed prophesied among the prophets, that the people said to one another, “What is this that has come upon the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets?”

I Samuel 10: 21 "and Saul the son of Kish was chosen....So they ran and brought him from there; and when he stood among the people, he was taller than any of the people from his shoulders upward....

11: 6 " then the Spirit of God came upon Saul when he hear this news and his anger was greatly aroused....

16: 14 "but the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul and a distressing spirit from the Lord troubled him"

However Saul was still God's annointed and David punished the man who killed him, thus showing us that God speaks AGAINST Euthanasia.

I thought anyone who spoke the words the Holy Spirit placed in their heart was prophecies and numbered among the prophets? Is there a difference between the spiritual gift of prophecy and being a prophet?

I thought the gift of prophecy is foretelling of the future by the Holy Spirit so that God's people will be ready for attacks and be prepared by studying His Holy word?

There is an erroneous belief that every word of God is contained in the bible. What, you do not believe this? Then how can the reasoning which says that there cannot be prophecy because the bible is finished hold up under scrutiny? Every belief we have has an end result, every single one. If we believe that the bible is the final, finished and complete revelation of God, then we also believe that it contains all of the knowledge of God, along with every word He has spoken. For the belief says that there is no prophecy, because the bible is finished.

And yet, even in scripture we see that if all the words of Jesus, and all of His deeds, were written down, that there would not be enough room in the whole world to contain them. Do you see the problem? Each belief we have must be examined in the light of God's wisdom to see the end of that belief.

I once believed that I was saved because Jesus had died and rose again on my behalf. And while it is true that He did give Himself for me, that alone did not save me. For while I believed in His forgiveness, I did not draw near to Him with a sincere heart, to see sand know Him. I did just as the children of Israel did, and hardened my heart towards God, claiming His salvation while holding myself out of His light. And who could deliver me from my own lies? God did. It was not pretty.

If all that we know of God is what we read, and if all that we have of Him is knowledge gained by study and teaching; then we do not know God. And if we do not know God, we have believed in vain, and the sacrifice that Jesus made in order to purchase us from slavery has done us no good.

No, all knowledge of God is not in the bible. And all of His words are not contained therein. For God has not lost His mouth, and He has not stopped talking. We have stopped listening. And just as God judged those who hardened their hearts towards His voice,

But....what about the above words verbatim from "Jesus" - did He really actually give you those very words to say? Or was that part of the sting operation?

It was a personal revelation to me from an angel claiming to delivering a message from Jesus because I'm a high school science teacher and we are currently on the unit concerning evolution and I was having a tough time because I believe that the scientists are wrong and they teach things that go against the Bible. So they are God's words to me about that issue, but they served the same purpose.

Do you still believe in angels as messengers from God?

And yeah I argue with all voices that claim to be from God. Its called testing the spirits. I test them against the HOLY WORDS of the BIBLE and if they don't line up, contradict or get angry or impatient with me I ignore them. Love THINKS NO EVIL. I have a hard time understanding why people do things that are evil because I prefer focusing on God's love, but sometimes we have to understand that God is love AND JUST.

Like I said, can't ignore you. I was told to be nice to my brothers and sisters and even if you were an enemy I would still have to fed and clothe you, because GOD tells us to do it.
