Do Christians have a duty to keep God's commandments?

John 14:15
"If you love me, keep my commandments"

Ecclesiastes 12:13
"Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind".
Once you say you have a duty to keep the Torah Law then you better keep them perfectly without fail, no not even once fail to do the law.. You and works salvationist cultist like yourself who preach that one must keep the Law to be saved will stand before the LORD one day and you will be shown where you broke that law and you will be shown the Eternal Lake of Fire...

Salvation is attained by Believing Jesus and trusting in the Atonement He secured on the cross, that it pays the penalty of ones transgressions against His Law.. There is NO other Way..

Nobody here is saying that we need to keep the law for salvation!
Read the thread.

It's hard to know for sure exactly what you truly believe based on your ambiguous language and what appears to be double speak throughout this thread. The title of your thread "Not by works" - false! doesn't help your case either.

@EleventhHour , as an aside, I showed (by quotes ) in post 1,017 that you had said that what others are saying is wrong. I asked in post 1,017 for you to explain why. You still haven't got back to me on this.

Where is the love here?

I was busy reflecting on my response ... you need to first understand that salvation is secure right now I see you adding in performance to keep or maintain salvation this makes it difficult, if not impossible to discuss other doctrines.

It is descriptive of a true convert bro.

You must understand the simpleton tribe on here, for the most part, do not believe in evidence of conversion. They reject it. No matter how a person lives after “salvation” it’s all good to them in spite of biblical warnings. It is a form of antinomianism most likely from the false teachings of the theology named “Free Grace Theology.” A person can live however they want and still expect heaven. This scratches their ears for them, obviously.
Just to note

This post is a bold faced lie, It is as this same user called, a strawman. It is an attack used to puff himself up.

Also just to note. Vengence is mine sayeth the lord. I find it amazing who people who profess how important following Gods commands are. openly and willingly and purposely breaks command number 9 and have no remorse about it. and think they are just going to get away with it.

I agree totally.
I'm now writing another thread called "God loves everyone" - keep your eyes peeled :)
You agree with his lie?

You know how many people here said that obedience to Gods commands was a result of being saved, A Byproduct of being born again, A result of being physically and spiritually sanctified by God which is a process that never ends.

Which is the exact same thing this poster said. Yet you did not agree with us

What does this tell you about sincerity? and Love? (think about this before you open a thread about Love)

It is a bold face lie and a total misrepresentation.

Creating a "strawman" is always an indication one's own dogma falls very short of truth!!!

Well I look forward to receiving your response to the question raised in post #1,017

Just something....

We can expect heaven now based on our performance not based on the work of Christ Jesus.

the problem is they mistake grace with licentiousness.

No one here teaches licentiousness. But since they hate true grace.. They have to attack and claim we love our sin and do not care how we live and think we can live and do anything we desire.

Our best will never be "good enough", but Jesus makes up for the shortfall.
Then explain your point # 2 where you said we must do our best if we want to be saved. If as you just aditted. This will never be good enough anyay? That makes no sense

This doesn't detract from the fact that we are asked to keep God's commandments and turn away from sin.
Gods people do this, It is not a requirement. It is a lifestyle. we are made new creatures. The old has passed away behold all things have become new.

Will they be perfect? No

Will they still struggle with certain sins (bessetting)? Yes (especially as babes) You may stop many of your sinful lifestyle yet still struggle with your deep sin issues, does this mean you are not saved? No!

Will they continue to live like they used to as if nothing changed? No (see 1 John 3)

"explain your point # 2 where you said we must do our best if we want to be saved"

Because God tells us to keep his commandments
John 14:15
Ecclesiastes 12:13

We are told that if we don't consciously turn away from sin, that Jesus' sacrifice will not cover those sins
Hebrews 10:23

You're conflating keeping God's commandments with a 'salvation by works' doctrine.
I'm not going to spend another day going round in circles with you on this.

Do you want to keep God's commandments or not?
