as the deer panteths for the water is a good song.

This isn't how I sing it, her cadence is ever so slightly slower than when I sing it myself but check out some other versions. Pretty sound doctrinally and it came to mind. Here is a link.

Oh I'm not a big fan of graphics in videos. You can play it and close your eyes or switch tabs. But then some are blessed by the visuals, idk. Up to you.

You alone are my strength, my shield

To You alone may my spirit yield

You alone are my heart's desire
And I long to worship Thee

As the deer panteth for the water
So my soul longeth after Thee

You alone are my heart's desire
And I long to worship Thee

You're my friend
And You are my brother

Even though You are a King
I love You more than any other

So much more than anything
I want You more than gold or silver

Only You can satisfy
You alone are the real joy giver
And the apple of my eye

There's a lot of good 90s music I could dig up from memory that run through my mind often enough.

Also if you like classical Handel has quite a few good worship songs.

I know most of the Christmas Hymns by heart. It's tough to pick, but I believe the words to this one are perhaps my favorite of all :)
1 Hark! The herald angels sing
‘Glory to the newborn King;’
Peace on earth and mercy mild;
God and sinners reconciled.’
Joyful, all ye nations rise,
join the triumph of the skies;
with angelic host proclaim,
‘Christ is born in Bethlehem!’
Hark the herald angels sing,
‘Glory to the newborn King.’
2 Christ by highest heav’n adored,
Christ the everlasting Lord:
Late in time, behold Him come,
Offspring of a virgin’s womb.
Veiled in flesh the Godhead see,
Hail th’incarnate Deity!
Pleased as man with men to dwell,
Jesus our Immanuel.
Hark! the herald angels sing,
‘Glory to the newborn King.’
3 Hail the heav’n born Prince of Peace!
Hail the Sun of righteousness!
Light and life to all He brings,
Ris’n with healing in His wings.
Mild He lays His glory by,
Born that man no more may die,
Born to raise the sons of earth,
Born to give them second birth.
Hark! the herald angels sing,
‘Glory to the newborn King.’

My parents took me to a liberal denomination when I was a kid, so the the Bible wasn't taught/preached regularly there :( But, we had creeds, and we always sung hymns with amazing words (like the ones you see below) about God and who He is, and all that He did/is doing for us too :)

Granted, the melody lines of many of our hymns are disjunct, and therefore not very easy to sing sometimes, but the creeds and hymns ended up being the way that I was introduced to/given a foundation in theology and doctrine, which I was especially thankful for when I finally became a Christian years later.

For instance:

1 Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
Let me hide myself in Thee;
Let the water and the blood,
From Thy wounded side which flowed,
Be of sin the double cure,
Save from wrath and make me pure.
2 Not the labors of my hands
Can fulfill Thy law’s demands;
These for sin could not atone;
Thou must save, and Thou alone:
In my hand no price I bring,
Simply to Thy cross I cling.
3 While I draw this fleeting breath,
When mine eyes shall close in death,
When I rise to worlds unknown,
And behold Thee on Thy throne,
Rock of ages cleft for me,
Let me hide myself in Thee.
1 A mighty fortress is our God,
A bulwark never failing;
Our helper He amid the flood
Of mortal ills prevailing;
For still our ancient foe
Doth seek to work us woe;
His craft and pow’r are great,
And armed with cruel hate,
On earth is not His equal
2 Did we in our own strength confide,
Our striving would be losing;
Were not the right Man on our side,
The Man of God’s own choosing;
Dost ask who that may be?
Christ Jesus, it is He;
Lord Sabaoth, His name,
From age to age the same,
And He must win the battle.
3 And tho’ this world, with devils filled,
Should threaten to undo us,
We will not fear, for God hath willed
His truth to triumph thro’ us;
The prince of Darkness grim,
We tremble not for him;
His rage we can endure,
For lo, his doom is sure,
One little word shall fell him.
4 That word above all earthly pow’rs,
No thanks to them, abideth;
The Spirit and the gifts are ours Thro’
Him who with us sideth:
Let goods and kindred go,
This mortal life also;
The body they may kill:
God’s truth abideth still,
His kingdom is forever.
1 Great is Thy faithfulness, O God, my Father.
There is no shadow of turning with Thee.
Thou changest not; Thy compassions, they fail not,
As Thou hast been Thou forever shall be.
2 Summer and winter, springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon, and stars in their courses above,
Join with all nature in manifold witness,
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.
3 Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide.
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside.
Chorus: Great is Thy faithfulness.
Great is Thy faithfulness.
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided.
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me.

There is Power in the Blood

Are you washed in the Blood of the Lamb?

When we all get to Heaven

I’ll fly away

When the Roll is called up yonder

Has anyone here heard the song how far I'll go by moana? It is not at first glance a holy song but it speaks a different message to me. It brings me to tears because while she is singing about sailing to me it says instead the search for fathers heart.

Think of the song like this she sings about the light at the edge of the sea how it's blinding how it calls her how the wind on her sail stays behind her how everyone on the island is happy and has a role and how she can be satisfied to play along but the voice inside her sings a different song

For me that horizon is God, how blinding he is how far and deep and wide his heart is how I long to be there to dive into the ocean that is his heart how if I cross that line if I go there there is no telling how far I will go.
She speaks of the island the people there happy with their roles and her saying if she plays along she can be satisfied, to me this is the world that in this life we are beckoned to be in to be satisfied but a voice inside me sings a different song and the calling of the light of that horizon.
How the wind on my sail is the holy spirit moving me forwards following my heart.
I just can't help it when I hear this song I just cry because of how profound it is to me how deeply it resonates with me soul it is as if God knew how I felt made a song just for my hearts to voice it.

Hello again @holy999, there are many contemporary Christian songs that I love and know by heart too. Nearly anything by Michael Card (except his most recent songs), and many others too, like the video and lyrics of the one below (that takes an important look at Matthew 5:14-16).

Jesus said:

Matthew 5
14 You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden;
15 nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.
16 Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

Every secret, every shame
Every fear, every pain
Live inside the dark
But that's not who we are
We are children of the day
So wake up sleeper, lift your head
We were meant for more than this
Fight the shadows, conquer death
Make the most of the time we have left
We are the light of the world
We are the city on a hill
We are the light of the world
And we gotta, we gotta, we gotta
Let the light shine
We are the light of the world
We are the city on a hill
We are the light of the world
And we gotta, we gotta, we gotta
Let the light shine
Let the light shine, let the light shine,
Let the light shine
We are called to spread the news
To tell the world the simple truth
That Jesus came to save
There's freedom in His name
So let His love break through
We are the light of the world
We are the city on a hill
We are the light of the world
And we gotta, we gotta, we gotta
Let the light shine
We are the light of the world
We are the city on a hill
We are the light of the world
And we gotta, we gotta, we gotta
Let the light shine
We are the light, we are the light, we are the light
So let your light shine brighter
We are the light, we are the light, we are the light
Jesus, You are the light, You are the light, You are the light
We will lift You high
And shine, shine, shine
We are the light of the world
We are the city on a hill
We are the light of the world
And we gotta, we gotta, we gotta
Let the light shine
We are the light of the world
We are the city on a hill
We are the light of the world
And we gotta, we gotta, we gotta
Let the light shine
Let the light shine, Let the light shine
Let the light shine, Let the light shine

@Deuteronomy

Great is thy faithfulness is one of my favorites. I'll check out the song you posted about letting your light shine...

I recall a sort of jazzy/funk children's version of letting your light shine I'll see if I can find it.

Off the top of my mind.

So, let your light shine before men.
Let them see the works you do
Glorify the father above
So they may see Jesus in you.

A city set forth on a hill
a candle that shines in the night.

Try to place it enough for a search but I hear it in mind every so often.

Even that song "hide it under a bushel" "No!" I'm gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine
Only recall that one in snippets.

Anyone a children's song expert? :)

Oh @OP I didn't read through that fully...didn't realize it said that the Lord is our brother :(

I don't recall ever singing that, perhaps I posted a different version than I grew up with

Oh, be careful little eyes what you see
Oh, be careful little eyes what you see
For the Father up above is looking down in love
Oh, be careful little eyes what you see

What appears to be harmless glance
Can turn to romance and homes are divided
Feelings that should never have been awakened within
Tearing the heart in two, listen, I beg of you

Guard your heart, guard your heart
Don't trade it for treasure, don't give it away
Guard your heart, guard your heart
As a payment for pleasure, it's high price to pay

For a soul that remains sincere with conscience clear
Guard your heart

The human heart is easily swayed
And often betrayed at the hand of emotion

You dare not leave the outcome to chance
You must choose in advance
Or live with the agony
Such needless tragedy

Guard your heart, guard your heart
Don't trade it for treasure, don't give it away
Guard your heart, guard your heart
As a payment for pleasure, it's high price to pay

Guard your heart, guard your heart
Don't trade it for treasure, don't give it away
Guard your heart, guard your heart
As a payment for pleasure, it's high price to pay

For a soul that remains sincere with conscience clear
Guard your heart
For a soul that remains sincere with conscience clear
Guard your heart

1 Thessalonians 4
3 This is the will of God, your sanctification; that is, that you abstain from sexual immorality;
4 that each of you know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor,
5 not in lustful passion, like the Gentiles who do not know God.

You are my shepherd in the wilderness.
Who shall I fear?
You are the God who goes before me,
My Rock and my Shield.
In troubled times You will provide
And I shall not want
You are, You are my God.
